This screenshot of Linux PS4 gives us details about the PS4 CPU
Lots of interesting stuff has been happening over the past few days since developer kR105 has bridged the gap between the PS4 exploits and fail0verflow’s Linux release, allowing all people with a PS4 1.76 to run linux on their favorite console.
Earlier today, fx0day shared a tutorial on how to run ubuntu on your PS4, and some people are now seriously thinking about giving SteamOS on PS4 a try, we’ll see how that works out.
People on twitter have asked what the cpuinfo data had to give from Linux, and twitter user @M15T4W3Z delivered:
There’s no groundbreaking information here, but this seems to confirm a lot of what had been revealed before: the PS4 is using an AMD CPU made of 2 quad cores, and runs at 800MHz.
This information can also be found on Wikipedia, just for those who would think there’s something fundamentally new here. but it’s still extremely cool to know that us, the users, now have a door to access some of the internals of the most popular console of this generation.
As for the name of the processor, DG1002FGF84HT, a quick google search returns only a handful of results, including this lengthy blog article in Chinese giving extensive details on the PS4 hardware.

its good to see how fast progress is coming for the ps4.
I would like to see some real benchmark running on the linux or ubuntu on PS4, so with this info we could compare it how it could real smote to run on steamos competition x sony ofw.

Now a question comes to my mind… could someone with Linux on its PS4 analyze how FW updates are being decoded? This would potentially bring the option to decode 3.50 FW and build exploits.
How would a person do this
How? Dump the (encrypted) flash file system, then decrypt using functions within the ofw kernel (sbl stuff afaik), then find the modules responsible for handling fw update. Finally decrypt 3.50 fw update. Release. 😉
or you could just take the hard drive out of the system frankly itd be no different
You know what’s sick, there’s someone on ebay selling ps4 update files, 1.76, 3.15, etc. loaded on usb drives to “save you the time downloading the update” or some *** like that for $20. Like really? Dude gets like 4-5 buyers a month too
