Playstation Vita System Software 3.60 is now available, VHBL already running
A new PS Vita System Software has been released a few hours ago and is required for using the online services of Sony, such as the PSN Store.
The new Firmware 3.60 does patch the Metal Gear Solid exploit, but it doesn’t patch a certain other exploit…
The new Firmware 3.60 doesn’t really offer anything interesting, if compared to the previous Firmware, version 3.57, it is just a normal ‘stability’ update.
Despite firmware 3.60 fixing the recent Metal Gear Solid VHBL exploit, which was a limited method of using the VHBL on firmware 3.57, it did not fix a certain other exploit.
I am of course talking about the Custom Bubbles that were created with Qwikrazor’s very own method.
As long as those Qwikrazor Custom Bubbles only require usermode access, like most Emulators & the trusty VHBL do, they should still work on firmware 3.60.
If they require kernel access, like the ARK-2 & TN-V Bubbles, then they will cease to work as of updating to the most recent PS Vita firmware.
Any other kind of Custom Bubbles, such as the ones created with Major Tom’s & mr.gas’ method, aren’t working on firmware 3.60 and didn’t work on firmware 3.57 either. They have been patched since quite a while.
Nonetheless there are still ways to run the VHBL & various Homebrews on the Playstation Vita, such as the Custom Bubbles that were created via Qwikrazor’s method.
We are of course suggesting you to not update your PS Vita, if you’re currently using any kind of eCFW or native Hacks. The only things, that are still working, are the usermode exploit Bubbles.

They’re still wasting time on not providing anything worth while to the Vita and had the nerve to name a “stability update” with 3.6? Just stick to home consoles Sony.
It was going from 3.57 to 3.60, cant see the big deal about calling it 3.60. The update is likley related to remote play with PS4.
Like I said, if it’s only a “stability update” with no actual features being released, then it would be better to call it 3.58.
Or call it 3.57,5 because it patches one gap but leaves out another.
Fair enough, but i cant see why it matters much. 0.1 increasements is usually for smaller bug fixes and such. We dont know whats changed in this firmware update.
Not trying to ask for anything here but would it ever be possible for qwik or someone else to update the pboot trick for the new kernel exploit? just curious.
Forget homebrew. Does this update fix the battery draining introduced with 3.57?
Apparently the battery draining was related to a PSN issue, and has since been fixed on their side.
When in 3.57, I had a crash that made me lost my LEGO Marvel’s Avengers savegame. It probably helps with these kind of bugs, who knows?
hope someone could release atleast a firmware spoofer or sumthing like that, I’m still on 3.18 and wanna play newer games like Project Diva X, nights of azure etc etc..
Aren’t we all, mate… My Vita’s on 3.36 with VHBL and Rejuvenate which I haven’t even used once. Heck, I haven’t even used my Vita in a year and a half!

It will, but the games I care about were released only in physical form (Japan-only titles). That’s why I am still unable to play them…

I’ve actuLly been away from the whole bit scene because its just lacking in new mAterial, just new exploits come out left Nd right which isn’t really bad Thing
But get to custom bubbles working now seems like a lot of work and with TNV it just floods your game menu with several dupes.

Nowadays I’m just using vita as a web browser to watch youtube while going to bed or some anime, movies online. Since I messed up the Vita exploit in 3.51 I’m just waiting until the vita is partially native hackable.

Really doesnt matter if you update. Someone is always going to find a loop hole somewhere, but i guess that doesn’t matter since no one wants us to play backup ps vita games here.

It’s looking like the highest you can go to retain all the best ones (TN-V, Rejuvenate, awesome new PS1 Loader by TheFloW) is gonna be 3.51 for quite some time, or 3.18 if you need the package installer. Personally I’ve kept one on 3.36 and another on 3.51.
Lame Sony. If you’re not gonna push the handheld forward in any meaningful way, let the homebrew hackers that are trying have their day and turn a blind eye to it, for once.
PS4 is getting all the love here , u can see the real deal update , that really improve or add something to it , thou this update are kinda lame , because most of the stuff out of box have them , and they are just introducing it , but i guess its ok , but for vita , is just removing stuff out of it , soon i guess that the only way we can operate with it is to connect it to ps4 only for a secound screen and only in some games 😐 seriously i dont know what sony is doing to this hand held , if u dont like it , fine then let it be , not destroying it completetly. we payed for it and we deserve the support and service
They have handful of arguments about how this is not a good time for their handheld because you may have to compete with smartphones and you cant behave like complete jerk due to competition. Since they cant milk it, dont care about gamers, they dont really support it that much standalone. though in japan support is a little bit better than this nothing.

If I got a dollar every time somebody told me that, then VHBL proves once again to be useful, I’d be rich. HBL has been around for 6 years now and is still the number one tool to be ported to a new ePSP exploit, can you believe that?
That is a very sad thing tho. psp hacks are almost the only thing keeping vita homebrew scene alive. To me, all hope is lost, as i write this on poopy smartphone, which i use more on everything, sadly gaming included, than vita, which experiences near death state. :c
Well, the problem is not VHBL itself, but the lack of a decent exploit for the Vita.
I mean, I know I can’t complain since you guys do this nonprofit, but as an VHBL user, I rly got tired about it. It’s not the first time I buy one of the exploitable games that keep being blocked meanwhile we keep getting force to update our system if we want to play the latest games.
And tbh it hurts to see meanwhile, systems like PS4 are already going further than the Vita in terms of hacking.

i have my ps vita w/ software 3.52 and i tried to jb it, i did every thing needed but when i open content manager to upgrade to the 3.52 – CFW virsion it tells me i need to upgrade system software to 3.60 and i dont want to upgrade to that virsion. what to do???

Why dont they make a hack for any PSP games i mean youll just put the hack file on that any psp game save files then you can play psp games or vhbl or whatever plz make it XD
because its kinda being sandboxed , u know , we are running all psp games and stuff inside psp emulator which dosent have access to core system files and stuff directly and also cant use the full potential of PS Vita , so basically by that we dont achive what we are looking for , we are looking for something native , that will gives us access to all hardware potential of the vita.

To be clear, if I have the bubble from a previous fw (ex. 3.18), I can upgrade to 3.60 to play the latest and greatest vita games and still enjoy old console emulation through VHBL?
I think ive found the best actual real life hack for the vita, it works pretty good. Last time I used my vita was like 2 years a go, now its full of life and purpose again. Anyway heres how to get the hack working. 1. You get a bunch of A4 fomat papers and put it near a window (The wind might start to blow them away, just hold them steady with your hand in the meanwhile) 2. Get your trusty Vita which is absolutely not dead and has still a lot of good games, especially those 3000 ported INDIE platformers from the year the 1987 which look all the same. Oh yeah and the JRPG’s dont forget em beauties! 3. Anyway…. Take the vita in your dominant hand with your other hand hold the papers in place. Slowly and carefully put the Vita on the papers and release your non-dominant hand from the papers. 4. Your all done! Enjoy this clever yet beautiful real life hack for the vita.

In general I’m rather upset with the Vita homebrew/hacking scene… There is nothing happening worth while with it. Don’t get me wrong the ePSP hacks are cool, but since i still have a CFW PSP 2000 I’m really not interested in these hacks. Rejuvenate is more or less a flop as I’ve heard next to nothing about it since the first few months of it’s release and obviously most of the reliable hacks are patched as of 3.52. Heck even then they are difficult to do and require way too much time and patience and for what? Oh boy I can play pokemon via an emulator that runs inside of the psp emulator on the vita.
I’m done. I’m upgrading to 3.60 and not looking back. I would rather enjoy the games that are out for the system than sit any longer waiting for someone to actually crack the Vita and get REAL CFW. I still have my 3ds to homebrew with but the Vita “scene” is dead
