PS3 Custom Firmware 4.78 Rebug REX/D-REX has been released
Korean developer Joonie from Team Rebug did it once again, he published today the Rebug CFW REX and D-REX for Firmware 4.78. This is not only a port of 4.78, with this release he added the XMB CFW settings which was developed by mysis. Now you got surely the question what are these “XMB CFW settings”?
CFW Settings v0.1 {xai_plugin) is an ultimate add-on for XMB, developed by mysis. This plugin is disabled by default, however can be enabled via REBUG TOOLBOX 2.02.09.
Features:
- XMB Icons for nice CFW tasks, available in Network Column
- Simply select and it’s executed!
- Rebug Settings – Toggle COBRA and Debug Menu Type
- Dump Tools – Klicense, File Secure ID, IDPS, Disc Hash key
- Service Tools – Display Minimum Downgrade FW Version, Rebuild Database, Check File System, Entering Recovery Mode (NOR Models Only)
- Advanced Service Tools – Entering FSM (!!!DO NOT Install FW while on FSM that may lead RSOD!!!), Remarry BD drive and RSOD fix
With those added, he also added support for the XMB Manager Plus. This Manager is multifunctional and allows you not only to install package files on your PS3, it also comes with a bunch of features such as a Download Manager. Like all Custom Firmwares, you can only install these if you’re already running a Custom Firmware, or Official Firmware 3.55 and below on your PS3.

Do what I do and just use Ferrox’s DB firmware. Has hardly anything patched besides the bare minimum patches needed to reinstall a full CFW. It’s like an uOFW of sorts.

before enabling internet i start up psninja and wipe history replace history and make history read only then i launch psnpatch and disable cfw then i enable internet and sign on like normal

Yes they got a supplier who offer DEX Firmwares to create full Rebug Builds
I know it is irrelevant, but it’s amazing how everyone is focusing on keeping home brew support on vita but when it comes to reviving the Vita scene, everyone backs up wants to revive the PSP SCENE!!!! If that’s the case, PEOPLE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO PORT NULL DC (DREAMCAST) ON PSP SINCE 2007!!!!! If someone wants to do something REVOLUTIONARY WITH THE PSP, HERE IS YOUR CHANCE.

It’s sort of amazing how the PS3 doesn’t have a softmod – I’m hoping something comes along, some day, because I don’t want to mess around with soldering and flashing.

If it’s ps3 that works with E3flasher, soldering is not required unless you mess up and brick your ps3 during rom-writing process (and also have a proper back up); in which case you have to solder some pins to keep ps3 alive during flashing the rom.
Although you still have to open up the ps3.

A softmod is a method of using software to modify the intended behaviour of hardware, such as video cards, sound cards, or game consoles in a way that can overcome restrictions of the firmware, or install custom firmware.
That is exactly what we have, CFW
How can a softmod BE custom firmware if it literally, by your definition, says that its a method to INSTALL custom firmware?
you can go directly from 3.55 to any custom firmware, therefore it is a softmod.
if you are over 3.55, you will need to hardmod to downdate or patch before you can softmod
How many days you think will pass before sony launch another OFW in response to the new Rebug CFW?

You should update to this CFW, Rogero is pretty outdated, has a few annoying Bugs and not so much Features like this CFW. And yes your’re on a CEX CFW.

For something that has sold over 80 million units, the number of responses on such developments only means the scene is dead. Either disrupt it or close the scene. Sorry for a strong opinion here.
People looking that wants homebrews and backuploaders are actually a minority incompared to the other.. That’s why sales of consoles and games doesn’t actually hurt whatever unsigned code there is available for game consoles/handhelds.
And also PS3 is pretty much really dead to Sony ‘coz of PS4..

I am having trouble playing back DVDs. I am on Rebug 4.78.2 D-REX (Debug) edition. Have enabled webman/Cobra mode and tried changing the region code in webman settings.
