Community Poll: PS Vita Custom Bubbles – Double the Bubble or Spare & Retain?
In the last few weeks we have told you that developer Qwikrazor is going to release his very own kernel mode exploit, but also his very own Custom Bubbles, for the PS Vita system softwares 3.5x.
This means that you can enjoy an ARK-2 eCFW Custom Bubble on your Playstation Vita, as long as you can follow the requirements.
Depending on what the community decides, Qwikrazor might delay his own Custom Bubbles, and replaces them with Tom’s & Mr.gas’ own Custom Bubbles…
Custom Bubbles³ – Cubic Bubbles
If you have read the previous article, which involves a huge upcoming release for the PS Vita firmware 3.52, then you might have noticed that this release includes a variation of Custom Bubbles.
Major_Tom’s and Mr.gas’ Custom Bubbles were patched as of PS Vita firmware 3.50, but they have another functional method which works on firmwares 3.50, 3.51 and 3.52, thus brings back the ability to use Custom Bubbles.
If you still cannot see the problem, let me explain it to you in very simple words:
Overlapping Bubbles.
If we consider all possible Custom Bubbles on the Playstation Vita, we will end up with 3 different ones. The first batch (by Major_Tom & Mr.gas), which was released for system softwares 3.36 and below, that stopped working as of version 3.50.
The second batch, the upcoming Custom Bubbles (by Major_Tom & Mr.gas) for Playstation Vita system software 3.5x (3.50/3.51/3.52), which will work on any Playstation Vita system software, as long as it is version 3.52 or below.
The third batch, (once again) upcoming Custom Bubbles (this time by Qwikrazor87) for the Playstation Vita, which in theory should survive at least one major Firmware update.
The current problem is, that we would have 2 upcoming Custom Bubble releases scheduled, which would overlap in firmware compatibility. Both of these upcoming Custom Bubble releases would support firmwares 3.52 and below, but only Qwikrazor’s will most likely work for one additional firmware update (after which Sony will also patch Qwik’s Bubbles), assuming Qwikrazor publishes his Bubble Method.
In an easier world, one would simply say that we keep Qwikrazor’s Custom Bubbles on ice, until a better point in time has been found to release them. Why keep Qwik’s Bubbles instead of Tom’s/Mr.gas’? – Well, Qwikrazor’s Bubbles won’t be patched in the next PS Vita firmware, while the ones of Tom & Mr.gas will almost certainly be patched.
The Community decides:
We have unfortunally told you that you will need a PSP exploit game, and a compatible (random) base PSP game for Qwikrazor’s Custom Bubbles to be installed and for them to work.
While this information was mostly correct, it has become obsolete, due to Major_Tom’s and Mr.gas’ own Custom Bubbles, which require neither.
The Custom Bubbles of Major_Tom & Mr.gas do not require any PSP exploit game and they do not require any PSP base game (as far as we know), which in the end would make your purchase of a base & exploit game – both planned to be used with Qwikrazor’s Bubbles – pretty much useless.
The base game is the smallest problem, since most of you did not have to buy a new random game, since most people should already own at least 2 PSP games, which happens to be one random one and the other one most likely an exploit game.
The problem is that we have told you that you will need one of the exploit games (compatible with your PS Vita’s firmware) for the Custom Bubbles to successfully work. This still applies if we plan to release Qwikrazor’s Custom Bubbles, and your money will be well spent.
On the other side this would be a huge waste of Qwikrazor’s Custom Bubbles, because Tom & Mr.gas are going to release their very own Custom Bubbles anyways, since their Bubbles will be patched in the next PS Vita firmware, while Qwikrazor’s Bubbles should survive at least one firmware update.
Shall it be choice 1 or choice 2?
We currently have 2 choices, that might affect you:
The first choice would be, that we are going to release Qwikrazor’s Custom Bubbles for the very next Vita firmware, just as planned, but this would mean that Qwik’s Bubbles will be patched in the following upcoming firmware.
The second choice would be, that we are not going to release Qwikrazor’s Custom Bubbles, because Major_Tom and Mr.gas can provide their very own Custom Bubbles as a replacement.
While choice 1 seems to be the morally correct choice, choice 2 seems to be the more logical one, to waste as few hacks as possible.
Why did I say morally & logical? Let me explain it.
A few people have spent some money on PSP games (exploit games), which were a requirement to use the Bubbles (Qwik’s). If we simply say that – “there won’t be a release of Qwikrazor’s Bubbles, but you can have these free ones instead” – then people are naturally going to be pretty mad, since they have “wasted” their money on “useless” PSP games (which cannot be used as exploit games in a future firmware).
The logical part would be, that it would be a waste to release Qwik’s Bubbles, if Tom & Mr.gas are going to release their very own ones anyways. This would be the logical choice, to preserve Qwik’s Bubbles for a later, future firmware.
As you can see, choice 1 would leave people without any “loss & harm”, while choice 2, despite offering the same as choice 1, would leave people with a “loss & harm”, to a certain degree. They would have wasted their money, because we said so.
As you may have noticed, I am writing this article with a pretty biased opinion. Of course people are going to be mad if they have spent some money, that they didn’t need to spend, but I am a friend of the logical world, and the only logical decision would be to keep Qwik’s Bubbles, and substitute them with the ones from Major_Tom & Mr.gas.
In the end it is your – the Communities – choice what happens. We can waste both Bubbles on firmwares 3.5x, and be done with them; or we can postpone Qwikrazor’s Bubbles and keep them for a later firmware.
Regardless what you choose, a few people are going to be either mad or incredibly salty, but nonetheless you guys are getting some Custom Bubbles for firmware 3.52, one way or another.
Please give us some feedback via the Comments section, but also via Twitter (@Qwikrazor87 – @The_Zett), so we can evaluate what you guys want us to do.

why not wait and see if sony will really patch mr.gas and M. Tom bubbles method on next firmware. They might release it soon and usually there’s a big testing period before release so who knows.
I Vote Choice 2. PS. I bought the PSP games but i’m not mad 🙂
I agree with The Zett. I have bought a psp game for bubble but “wasting” quick’s bubble is not wise since we already have a working bubble.
That’s my opinion.

I say save the qwikrazor hack if possible.
Yep. Let’s keep it up our sleeve.
Save the cheerbubble, save the world.
A biased articule, yes, but in the best way. Let’s keep Qwik’s bubbles for later and be happy to have at least another choice for the time being.
Save qwik’s method. Even if someone bought a game, they still get a bubble. PLUS a new PSP game to play.
As one of those who bought Pool Hall Pro I’d say – the second choice is the right one.
I’d say save it till after an update but that’s just me
As in save the good exploit and find another that’s what I mean.
I’m on 3.18, so this isn’t really relevant to me, but even if I had bought a “compatible” game already… Waste not, want not. Bubbles for tomorrow! Think about the children. :p
I think most of the people will be like myself. I bought PHP, was annoyed when it was found to be nearly useless, and was happy when a method to use it was going to be released for custom bubbles.
I honestly don’t care as long as a method comes out. Since the new method that doesn’t require anything will be getting patched for sure, it makes no sense to waste the exploit that might be useful again in the future.
Release the better, but soon patched, exploit and save the other one for future use.
The way i see it, it was always a gamble when you choose to buy a game, even when a respected and trusted source tells you. You never know what could happen. Something could cause the devs to not release. Something unexpected could come out of nowhere. It was always a gamble.
The question you have to ask (if you bought because of this) is not ‘should they release or not’, it should be ‘Does my meager purchase mean more than everyone else?’ Was your small purchase too heavy to dissuade you from going ‘well, it’s better if we wait so others may benefit’?
Choice 2 is the obvious one. If you feel that’s in error because you spent a small amount of cash, you need to give your priorities a hard evaluation.
There’s no reason to release both now. Save Qwik’s hack for later. We know that Sony will be patching or removing the email app for the next update, so release that whenever its ready. Since Qwik’s hack requires an exploitable game, there’s no reason to have this debate IMO.
If you already have bought psp game you are not wasting it right. It can be use when qwik releases his bubble. You are just delaying the use of it, am I understanding it correctly?
Depends on if the particular exploit it uses is patched or not. The known exploit will likely be patched so it’ll be “wasted” in that sense, but you’ll still have the game (which as anyone will tell you, you should only buy the game if you want the game itself, any exploit that may or may not come out for it should be considered a bonus), and the Pool Hall games are apparently very exploitable so there’s a decent chance another exploit could be found again. For the initial install that is a new exploit would almost certainly need to be found. If you mean the base game for other bubbles after the first one that will likely work as soon as an exploit is found/released
Wrong. A current exploit game, e.g. for FW 3.52, will not contain an exploit on a future firmware, since this future firmware fixes the exploit.
The game will just be a “plain old normal game”, hence the “wasted money” part.
This. Nobody has wasted anything yet, and there’s no need to waste qwik’s bubbles now. People would have to buy the same game they’ve already bought for them, so there are no losses whatsoever, unless you get really pedantic and say that they could invest those $5 in stock market in the meantime or something equally stupid.
How is this even a question.
There’s no reason to release both now. Save Qwik’s hack for later. We know that Sony will be patching or removing the email app for the next update, so release that whenever its ready. Since Qwik’s hack requires an exploitable game, there’s no reason to have this debate IMO.
Qwik could also not release his exploit in a way that it is only compatible with the new firmwares – that way there won’t be public bubble releases with overlapping firmwares.
You would be wasting a whole heck of a lot more than five dollars worth if both methods were released at once. I might be sounding a little pretentious, but money is aplenty, and exploits are few. If you could afford the $200 entry fee to the Vita, the cost of a meal at McDonalds is not something to fuss over about.
While the bubbles serve the same purpose, with of course the additional features of Tom and Mr’Gas’s exploit will have, will it allow running of psp backups? This is not what’s clear to me.
I would much rather we keep Qwik’s method, because, even the first choice is not really much of a moral choice. Yes some people went through the trouble of spending their money already, however *whichever way it goes they would still be able to use custom bubbles, and people for the next 3.5x or whatever firmware would have a chance at it as well*
TL;DR Logical method #2 please. ^^
I vote for saving the exploit.
Much base, much exploit. Qwikrazor might have given too much information about his exploit, and it might patched regardless. His saying it won’t get patched doesn’t mean it won’t Q_Q. I votes for saves exploit but stills.
Second option.
I bought a few psp games for the exploit, and I also say choice 2 would be the best decision. I am not mad I want the vita nailed down and hacked as much as possible, save it for later firmware and let’s enjoy the free bubbles.
Choice 2 nuff said
How about the PS1 Bubble? That would be awesome!!!
Here’s another vote to save Qwik’s bubbles. No reason to waste an exploit.
Save qwik’s bubble for future firmware is the way to go.
When people buy an exploit game they should keep in mind that things might change in the future, plans change and we should make the best use out of what we have.
God save the Qwik’s hack!
No one can get mad at u…….think logically……doesnt matter if anyone dislikes it….ur being logical
Choice 2….:D
i go for the smart choice save the Qwik’s bubbles, i spend a few bucks already but i think it worth it saved for later
choice 2, save the exploit if possible 🙂 THANKS for the hard work PS VITA DEVS!
the 2nd choice is the best choice.
I mean with Sony going to great lengths to make sure the ps vita is a miserable machine with these useless updates
it’s best to keep a ace around..
Sounds all logic to me, save the qwik bubbles for next fimware.
Good post!
Yet another vote for CHOICE TWO. Let us waste no exploit!
We should definitly save Qwiks bubbles.
Why have two methods at the same time?
Definitely keep Qwikrazor’s exploit safe for later. There’s no point in releasing it right now if Mr. Gas’s and Major Tom’s method has so much overlap and will probably get patched out in the next firmware.
I say choice 2, those who bought a PSP base game by now will be able to create teir bubbles anyway, they do not loose anything. The promise of custom bubbles will be fullfiled and they can hold their PSP game for when TomTom & Mr. Gas exploit is patched. Not doing so will be selfish and they loose a real option for another bubble creation method in the future. Which in perspective is bad for everyone.
I’ve aready spent 4$ for Pool Hall Pro, but I still want to save Quirk buble for upcoming firmware, for the greater good. So, choice #2, please.
Hold off until 3.60 fw is released.
If Tom’s & Gabaas’s EML bubble trick is indeed patched, we would use it (personally I’m waiting on Qwikrazor’s).
If it isn’t, it survived the firmware update. Then releasing Qwikrazor’s kraken would be a sound choice.
Don’t be too hasty now, evaluate the update patches first before deciding which is logical (*** usage of moral *facepalm*).
Soo, suppose im using the MajorGas (awesome name right?) bubbles. And I dont have an exploit game, to obtain vhbl what steps would I take, without wasting money on an exploit game…
Whether someone bought a game for the bubble or not doesn’t matter much. Either way they get a bubble. If they bought a game they get extended bubble use in the future when Qwiks bubble is released.
