Firmware 3.52: Xmax Katsu provides a new Exploit game!
Mainly known for his PS Vita hardware modifications, Xmax Katsu has provided us with a new (PSP) exploit game for the firmware 3.52.
Keep in mind that this is just a PSP exploit game, and has nothing to do with the Vita native Rejuvenate hack.
Xmax Katsu was going to release a new exploit game for the firmware 3.51, which got delayed due to various reasons.
Since his exploit is still working as of firmware 3.52, it was decided (more or less) that the exploit is going to be public.
The new exploit game is the game Puzzle Scape, which is available in most parts of Europe, Australia, New Zeeland and even Hong Kong. The game costs around 1,19€ and is ~90MB in size.
The game is a Minis, so you might want to be cautious!
Why you should be cautious is easily explained: As of firmware 3.10, Sony has restricted the available memory & functions for PSP Minis.
The Minis should only be able to allocate around 24MB of memory on a firmware higher than 3.10, due to these new PSP emulator changes. A similar thing happened with the firmware 3.18/3.20 exploit games and the firmware 3.30.
If you are still interested in taking this chance, then go ahead and buy this cheap exploit game.
If you are not 100% convinced, then please refrain from purchasing this exploit game, but keep in mind that if it is going to be something great, that it was your own choice to not purchase (and therefore miss out on) the exploit.
In the end you can test Xmax Katsu’s colour flasher (check the source), which is a proof of concept that it is possible to run unsigned code via said exploit game.
A VHBL or something similar has not yet been ported.

The methods been released, it’s been detailed how to make the modified whitelist, what to name it and even where to save it, but until we get direct access to the vita memory card we can’t save it where it needs to go.
Figure that out and even I can tell you how to set the whitelist up.

Will this xploit allow psps games?
If you read anything it’ll tell you that this is a POC. And even then it’ll never be able to run a PSP game due to reasons you’d know if you read the dam.n article.
Sorry, but I didn’t get if it is a psp kernel exploit or just vhbl.
It’s both, however ram will be limited and will lose about 8/32 MB so running ecfw might not be possible but no one is 100% certain on that yet.
so far it is neither. VHBL or eCFW might or might not be ported to this exploit.

well the usa isnt the only country but by far is the best when it comes to any PlayStation game being sold (amongst other things)on the PlayStation network. Europe blows very hard at ripping off its citizens even in video games.
Except for PS1 games. You have like heavy restrictions on them, while our PS1 games are “free for all”.

its the same as every other exploiit except no1 knows what exactly can be ported to it due to the exploit game being a mini and locking out most of the memory ram

buy puzzle scape with a ps3 and download it on ps3. Then, for a pstv, connect pc,ps3,pstv to same hub, have pstv use proxy vitablocker1.2 and transfert with content manager, for a vita launch qcma start transfert with pc then switch usb cord to ps3 and transfert from ps3 (qcma will do the same as vita blocker for the fw check thru usb)
And if you don’t have a ps3?

I’m happy enough with my VHBL bubble I already have on 3.51. I want to update for specific reasons, but I am staying due to wanting to keep the PSM Dev app.
stay on 3.51, rejuvenate will run NDS emulator eventually, while epsp homebrew stuck in the past.

Once the software that uses this exploit is public, I would say it could run most homebrew apps/games and emulators!
But there is currently no news yet if VHBL or some other software will be ported to use this exploit, but I will be very surprised if it isnt! I mean why would they bother posting the name of the exploitable game, if they werent planning to use it ;).
So in the words of Gollum: “Patience my love!”.
There would be some limitations though! Since its a Mini and not a full PSP game, any software that uses this exploit is limited to a certain amount of RAM…so some RAM intensive things might not work, but we will just have to wait and see what/if anything, comes of this exploit!

Oh btw do the coders of things like VHBL and such wait until Sony pulls the game from the store before releasing the exploit save game files (if they are ported)? or can it happen at any time?

Well hopefully someone is working on porting over VHBL or something else that will use this exploit to allow us to play homebrew software (homebrew being community made games, programs and emulator’s). In terms of risks, there isnt much to worry about! However the exploits generally only work for specific PS Vita firmware versions…in the case of Puzzle Scape, firmware 3.51 and 3.52 (3.52 being the newest)! So in order to continue to use the exploits/homebrew you need to keep your Vita on a compatible version (3.51 or 3.52!).
But you must know that Sony will release a new firmware version for the Vita, which will kill the exploit, so basically if you want to keep using the exploit, you can NEVER update your Vita! Once Sony releases a new firmware version, you will not be able to use the PlayStation Store/PSN on your Vita without updating, and updating will kill the exploit! So using homebrew comes at a cost of losing those features!
Sony will soon pull the game from the store so you cant obtain it until its patched and put back for sale (once its patched the exploit is dead, so you need to get the game BEFORE Sony fixes it!). As of now, Puzzle Scape is STILL for sale on the Australian/Euro PS Store, so you still have time to get it!
It doesn’t enable you to pirate/play downloaded games or anything like that, not that you asked…just thought I would mention it!
Is there a way to access the euro store if your main psn account is NA?
I think you need to setup your Vita to a Euro account, so you would need a separate memory card, as the Vita limits 1 account per card! And then once your Vita thinks you are from a Euro country (or Australia will also work), you can then create a Euro PSN account!
Its a fair bit of hassle tbh!
