EML Generator: Write directly to the PS Vita memory card!
Our good friend Mr.gas and his french colleague TomTomdu80 (also known as Major Tom) just released yet another brilliant piece of software for the Playstation Vita.
Thanks to their EML file generator and a neat E-mail application trick, it will be possible to write files directly to the PS Vita’s memory card!
If you think we could already do this, then you are wrong. This allows you to write to the ux0:/ directory of the Playstation Vita, not the ePSP’s ms0:/ directory, which would be ux0:/pspemu/ by the way.
While it is nice to be able to write directly to the Vita’s memory card, one might ask oneself what this can be abused for? Well…
Let’s say you can unlink a memory card from a specific firmware, which enables you to swap memory card without being forced to format the memory card or update the PS Vita system software.
In theory this should also enable you to unlink the memory card from your PSN account. Those are just a few extras functions, to be honest.
The main part of the EML file generator was pretty much to enable you guys to install the PSM Dev for Unity application (necessary for Rejuvenate), which has been removed from the PSN stores, and is therefore unavailable… Or is it?!
Go ahead and check out the following video, that Mr.gas recorded for us:
As you can see, it is possible to simply install update files (and DRM-free applications) via the E-mail application in combination with the EML file generator. This should also be possible on firmwares that cannot use the PKG Installer (3.30+) anymore.
