Confusion around the PSM Dev for Unity Rejuvenate announcement
Update: It seems TomTomdu80 and Mr.Gas have ways to solve the issue of installing PSM Dev for Unity on firmwares 3.20 and above (including 3.51). Scroll down for details, and stay tuned for more!
Yesterday, YifanLu announced that the PSM Unity Dev Assistant is also vulnerable to the Rejuvenate hack. The PSM Unity Dev Assistant is a separate app from the PSM Dev assistant. The PSM Dev Assistant is the one people had been advised to download initially for the rejuvenate hack.
Additionally, the PSM Unity app is more promising than the PSM Dev app, because it does not require a usb connection (the connection can happen over wifi), which means it could be compatible with the PS TV. To make things even better, that app apparently does not have any DRM, meaning it could be installed without a PSM Developer license (reminder: the PSM Developer license is *not* the same thing as the publisher’s license).
The problem is, that PSM Unity Dev assistant is gone from the PSN store. I have asked around, and I am not getting a clear answer to the simple question: “can people on firmware 3.51 Download and install the PSM Unity Dev assistant today?”.
I opened a thread on the /talk forums to gather answers to this question. you can check it here. For now, my understanding is that it is not possible for people on 3.51 to get this app now. If you have it installed on your PS Vita or PSTV, good for you, you’ll probably be able to enjoy some of the scene’s offerings in the weeks to come. If not, stay tuned while people look for a solution (and you should look for one too! Just because the situation isn’t clear doesn’t mean solutions don’t exist.)
Bottom line is, if you know how to download and install the PSM Unity app today on a 3.51 Vita, we have thousands of users here who would love you to share your steps 🙂
On a side note, I received a couple complaints from people, blaming me personally for the confusion that was generated around this release, and asking for apologies. I want to emphasize first that I did not drive this release, I am just reporting the news as we get them from the hackers. Secondly, it was discovered only yesterday by YifanLu that the PSM Unity Dev assistant was also vulnerable, and I posted about it within minutes of Yifan’s post. I assume that the discovery was triggered by the fact that Sony removed both apps from their store, implying that they both had a vulnerability. It’s not like hackers or myself knew before yesterday that the exploit was there as well.
We’re trying our best here to be as clear as possible on the steps to take to get access to the hacks. But at the end of the day, we’re getting the same information you’d get from the hackers themselves, their blogs and twitter accounts. If you feel the information we delivered was less clear than what people like Yifanlu have explained, then fire at will.
Update: tomTomDu80 announced on Twitter that him and Mr. Gas have solutions to this problem, and they will publish these solutions sometime soon. Stay tuned!
. @frtomtomdu80 The upcoming release will more likely allow you to do so.

For what it’s worth, I do not have the PSM Dev for Unity app installed on my PS Vita either. Just sayin’… it sounds like a safe course of action for the future is to download every single free app you can find on the psn store, just in case.
Are you looking for ways to install the PSM Dev for Unity? Did you find a way? Discuss in the comments below!

what about the 3.36 tnv user… btw first!
3.36 should allow package installer over the webkit exploit, but I think it hasn’t been implemented yet. http://wololo.net/talk/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=43142
Congratz! You won the oscar for being the 1st comment.
Well it sounds like very few people would have it anyway so I think people would probably release homebew that would work for the original psm dev assistant hack so as not to have an extremely limited audience, unless a workaround is found.
Since the .pkg didn’t have drm, I think the point was that it’d be easy to install. Anything with webkit, for example, could use the package installer feature, and anyone with a PS3 could probably use charles proxy (or maybe the standard “install .pkg file” option on a CFW PS3) to install it even if it wasn’t in the download list.
jeeezzz………..how long till some cool homebrews and a final release of rejuvenate hack
If you know a quicker way to bypass all the problems the scene is currently struggling with please show us the steps 🙂
But yea i feel you.
I am currently looking at used vitas, since i dont own one yet. It seems to be the right time.
Just wait a week. I am also eagerly waiting. 🙂
a little more i belive
There is allready a working emulator! Sure nothing fancy, but there is progress. Things take time.
Already? Holy *** that was fast. The dang SDK’s only been out a few days.
Exactly! Yet people complain that there’s not allready a working ps4 emu for it or something. BTW this is where i read about the emu. I tried it out and it’s working great. It’s a good start! http://hackinformer.com/2015/06/23/xerpi-ports-chip-8-emulator-psvita-rejuvenate-updated/
cool, thanks for info
why isn’t the pkg installer being used to install either of the apps, im sure a pkg is lying around somewhere
That’s how i did it. However, on Firmwares above 3.20 the package installer method (via E-Mail app) has been patched. Afaik there are still other ways to use package installer, but those are not public.
Well, they’re going to be made public soon
Psv 3.18 via pkg install
back up for 3.51
Geezzz,.. this people always complaining about something. Don’t know how to wait, it’s not like all the devs here have a plenty of time.. it’s not like a copy and paste or drag and drop hacking a console it takes so mucj time to write a code and this kids are here asking for “apologies” -_-
you are so right
And what an apology can do for them at this time. Nothing!!! They’re sc*** anyway. Jeeez they only want to inflate their egos, shame on them!!!
Agreed!
Yifan lu,i very very love you!!
There will be no psp game this time :(:(:(
Hi I have the application and license
I get error (-2138107640) saves 0x808F1108 check failed entitlement how to fix this
good for me i had this app
what version for psm unity is needed for 3.18?
1.05 downloads in the forums
what about the update blocker? it is currently spoofing 3.51. if we could change this to spoof 3.52 we should be good to go. i already take a look to the source code of it but my python skills arent good enough to see where it need to be modified.
I’ve been hoping that this would work. However – updateblocker 1.2 is supposed to check what the latest vita firmware is, then spoof it to devices lower than that.
Even when mine spoofed 3.52, I was still presented with an “udpate required” screen on the vita.
IIRC, Sony changes some security certificates or something occasionally, and so the update blocker needs to be manually updated to work with the new ones whenever that happens. Unfortunately, they weren’t silly enough to just ask for only a version number from the Vita.
If I find a way to upload the package, couldn’t we use the CharlesProxy swap method to get the app on a PS3? Then use the CMA trick to install it on vitas below 3.52? (I have Psm dev on my PS3 currently)
I’ve tried that already. Once I was ready to transfer from the PS3 to Vita, the Vita complained that I didn’t own the software and wouldn’t let me install it.
Screw the ppl who wanna b****. Wololo you do an awesome job. I happened to download the unity app just in case. Glad i did now.
yh me to lol i didnt even know it existed until i read someone asking which dev app to download, as soon as i read there was a unity version i downloaded it straight away about a week ago,
i have a question i have a slim vita on 3.5 and my 3g phat is on 3.51 i need to update one for ps4 remote play, i figured i should update my slim and keep the dev apps on my phat because if the vita homebrew scene kicks off someone might find a use for the built in upscaler and mystery port ? what do people think ?
I do have it installed, cause I didn’t want to take any chances. Pretty much just based on luck I suppose. I don’t think it would be much help to anyone though. Does anyone know if I can back it up via QCMA though? I only have it on my VITA, and would like to copy it over to the PS TV if it allows me to. We are all on the 3.51, as of now, so I’ll be careful to keep my VITA off the internet for the time being.
I don’t know much about the technicalities of the scene, but if there’s any general way that I could help, without compromising myself, please let me know. Whatever information would help you guys. Seriously, you rock! I love my VITA already! But I’d be happy to love it even more with some homebrew/classic emulators. And you know…More PSTV support would be nice.
If nothing else you could just swap the memory card between the Vita and PSTV, assuming they’re on the same PSN account. Although you can backup the app to QCMA through a Vita, I don’t think PSTV supports wired transfer through USB, only through wifi, which would require an update to use. Again, you could just backup to Vita on a different memory card, and use that card on PSTV.
So I(m fine if I had downloaded PSM for Unity when I had to install PSM Dev Assistant on 3.51?
I saw the screenshot of the Zed having it in one of his tweet so I assumed it was better to install it too.
I did the same!
I think it’s time to start hunting for bigger memory cards.
Eh guys? i got a backup with PSM DEV and PSM DEV for UNITY…. for 3.18
i’ll put them in a google drive for you guys.
be right back
here you guys go, let me know if i need to post it somewhere else.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-YSW6I2t0y3c2Q5TmREM3ZyaW8
If it’s a backup of the Vita from one of the CMA programs, that only works on your own Vita. The backups are encrypted.
@True – we cant use ur backup unless we all have ur a/c passwd n activate our vita using ur logins. Thanks for sharing anyway. I think what we need are (2 releases) i) new pkginstaller exploit and ii) unity.pkg + updateunity.pkg for 3.18-3.52
Good luck guys.
yeah i noticed 😉 but on the-zet’s twitter is a link to a working pkg file
nvm i deleted it, they already got a better one…
Yea. I updated from 3.18 for Dev assistant losing tnv. Sounds like I could have had the best of both worlds. Oh well. On to newer and better I guess. I appreciate all the hard work that goes into this. Thank you all so much.
So will people that are on 3.18 able to download this?? So you got 3.18 truefawkes and was able to get unity on it? Please explain.
via the package installer . . .
If you’re on 3.18, you’ve got access to the package installer (not sure how it works, as I’v only got a 3.36). With that, you can just install the .pkg file with that (look around on the forums and/or google for a download link).
i already had it on my ps vita when 3.18 came out.
just never ever touched my vita after that
Atm my biggest fear is, that there will be new Vita games that i want to play, but requiere 3.52 or higher.
You got 2 ways!
1. Stay on 3.51 and enjoy cool homebrews 🙂
2. Update your vita and enjoy games 🙂
Then buy the new ps vita games’ cartridge instead or import cartridges
I was expecting those to be restricted aswell. Isn’t that the case?
Almost certainly. Even the PSP had that restriction, after all.
okay, so what if someone uploaded the folder that is the psm dev unity app (PCS….), and then we can try to delete the licence and replace it with one that is registered with your psn account from a random app and then transfer it via openCMA. I tried this method with some psp dlc that would not transfer.
So I’m on 3.15 and want to be able to use this future methode and make use of as much other vulnerabilities of the vita such as the package installeren. To what firmware version should I manually update?
Stay, if anything update to 3.18.
Start with 3.18. There are lots of ePSP exploits for it, and it also has the ability to install .pkg files (apparently there’s a flaw in the email app, but I’m not familiar with the process), so you can install the unity dev assistant on it easily.
I was planning go update to 3.18 because I got an error installing the pkg on 3.15 (not sure why). But I think my usb cable is busted because it took a while before it started working and now it just won’t reconize my vita (I have tried everyting). Too bad the package installer doesn’t work through wifi.
Updating to another firmware is also pretty hard at the moment because zload is down :(. I just got to buy another USB and of that does not work wait for zload and update.
When rejuvenate was released last week, I purchased a brand new ps vita, updated it at 3.51. I had already obtained dev license and publisher license before that. So I just picked both psm dev and psm dev for unity in my download list and installed them. But I stupidly deleted psm dev for unity. When I heard it would be good to have it, it was too late since 3.52 was out. So I kept the vita with fw 3.51 and in airplane mode all the time and attempted charles proxy + qcma trick. I had to update ps3 to 4.75, then find a big demo to get in background, then a second small vita demo to get in background (pauses automatically because of first big download), select first pkg with ‘map local’ in charles, pause the big demo, etc twice. That way you obtain both pkg on ps3 disguised as vita demos. This url (http://www.psdevwiki.com/ps4/Template:Media_Services:PSM_Development_Assistant_for_Unity) allows you to get the 1.00 pkg and the 1.05 upgrade pkg (for 3.15+) or 1.06 upgrade pkg (for 3.30+). qcma trick worked (need shutdown vita completely first in airplane mode, then select the 3.30 protocol in qcma setting, and keep pc and ps3 connected), i could transfert the 2 demos consecutively from ps3 to vita through qcma trick to obtain psm dev for unity 1.00 then have it goes up to 1.06. (see other tutorials for qcma tric and charles proxy trick)
I guess on fw 3.18 it would work the same but with pkg installer it s even easier to just install the pkg (you just need to send to your vita 3.18 a specific email to start it). The problem is that the install of both pkg is probably rejected if that product is not in your download list first (happens when you get dev license i guess, or worse : if you installed it before or allowed ps vita to refresh the download list at least once before)
Anyone got the pkg for PSM Unity or a link?
Google “I’m looking pkg for psm”. Page two of the thread. Apparently the .pkg is still up on Sony’s servers.
Someone’s also got a lower version that should work on 3.18 if you need that.
Thanks I’ll update my PSTV to 3.36 if needed. I have a CFW PS3 so should be easy. Both of my ePSP and ePS1 exploit games have hacks for 3.20 as well as 3.36
not expect everything easy by Wololo, to risk a bit, I not only downloaded the psmDev but also unityDev.
Got PSM Dev, PSM Dev for Unity installed on my Vita with a PSM approved account and keys. I guess it’s safe to say that this Vita is ready for everything?
Well, it might not do well in a volcano or something, but other than that, yep. Congrats on being prepared!
Got Unity 4.3.4.2 working on my 3.18 Vita via Package Installer. Yipppeeee ! I followed this tutorial link ” http://wololo.net/talk/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=43219&p=391189#p391189 ” .
NOTE: I don’t have a license or PS Dev Assistant installed but only Unity. I had some difficulties in the beginning though as the stupid qcma didnt start…. I had to install CMA, then uninstall it and so much *** just to connect Vita to PC, heck took me about 2 hours just for this. Rest was just 5-7 minutes.
With dev app and unity on 3.51 ! I m just waiting 😉 Without licence…
And about the PSM Dev Unity Update package for 3.18 ? Because we need the package update 1.05 of Unity for 3.18fw and only 1.06 is linked on the web (1.06 run only on latest PS Vita firmware).
😉
Google “I’m looking pkg for psm". Page four of the thread. It was apparently asking some of the people to update to a version that wouldn’t work on 3.18, but it was cancelable.
Goto Yifan Lu blog of the annouced PSM Unity hack. In one of the comments, his got the link to some wiki that has links to the PSM Unity update pkg for 3.18 and 3.3 firmware.
Wololo has to apologize to absolutely no one ….If someone needs to apologize here , it is those who asked wololo for it …Man!! he didn’t beg you to visit his blog and read his articles after all…This is what happens when you do good thing to the people ….
Good thing I have 3 vita’s one on 3.18 the others both have psm and unity installed on them haha I’ll use one to keep the psm and unity on while I update the other to keep up with the online play
lol, some people got no shame. Wololo shouldnt apologise for anything. He is doing his best to keep people informed. He should be praised, not blamed.
I don’t post often nor do I agree completely with people on here but don’t get mad at the fact that it was said several times by several members and visitors of this site to download both dev apps to be on the safe side if you didn’t and you’re mad now then it’s your own fault
Sony patches their systems so quickly after a post on wololo that I’m beginning to wonder if they’re subscribed to your RSS feed…
He’s on to us
installation successful on vita 3.18 via PKG Installer 🙂
You don’t have to apologize for anything. It’s their problem for not looking up the information.
I made sure to download the Unity app just in case before it was removed. In my account and my other one. 😀
what is the latest version of psm unity for 3.18 i got it installed on my ps vita tv but its updated ,, so is it ok if i transfer it on my ps vita 3.18 too?
oh i dint read so there was a pkg never mind then
hi guys i need some one to share there publisher licence with me please.i really need it.it is alright to share
Lucky me! I had it because I was making a pam game!
