So we have to use update blocker to not update? (First)

    • wololo

I’d say for now just turn the wifi off?

    • anonanon

Make sure you have the “Download Update File for System Software” option disabled, and you shouldn’t have any issues unless you manually choose to update.

System->Auto Start Settings->Download Update File for System Software

But yeah, to be on the safe side, keep it in airplane mode while not in use.

    • Reeker

Vita Update Blocker works fine on 3.51.
Just tryed it 5 minutes ago.

  2. Debrielos

Thx god i made today acc on twitter xd

  3. Anubis2048

And I bet 300 dollars that this is going to be the only update in months, unless some new exploit is released… Sony doesn’t give a *** about the Vita anymore, I think they should just give up and let us crack it open.

It’s not helping when the only updates in the last 3-5 months have been only to patch exploits because Sony wont do any other *** with their handheld.

Can’t wait for this “method” of running homebrew without dev keys.. Although I do have my own private keys of my own, the idea of not needing one in the first place is beyond appealing to me, and probably a lot of other people too.

    • Fox

Yeah, I think at this point the Vita would sell better with native hacks. I dunno what they’re thinking.

      • brentt

they are forced to patch these exploit, they are obligated to do it, otherwise no PSV developpers would make games for it+ the devs could get them to court if they don’t patch these exploits, they need to protect the game developpers and their games,
now i know we aren’t in the kernel yet and we only have acces to homebrew, but that is the first step to it, eventually someone will open up piracy ….

        • mkss

“they are forced to patch these exploit”

          no.

“otherwise no PSV developpers would make games for it”

          false

” devs could get them to court if they don’t patch these exploits”

          citation needed

“they need to protect the game developpers and their games”

which don’t matter if they don’t sell any consoles

“now i know we aren’t in the kernel yet and we only have acces to homebrew, but that is the first step to it, eventually someone will open up piracy ….”

Maybe, but it’s a risk Sony takes by allowing their device to be on the market. And theirs a risk pirates take by choosing to pirate software instead of buying it.

    • DrRetro

Sony didn’t give up to remove hacks at one reason: they don’t want illegal copies on the Vita.

We all know, that at the moment only Homebrew is possible, but it is possible that illegal copies comes in the future with this hack as basis. There are enough “Hackers” that didn’t want only Homebrew on the Vita.

And for me it is clear: I want Homebrew, yes, but I also want new games from japan for my Vita.

    • Wiseguy

The reason they can’t let it die is because there will be many vulnerabilities to get into ps4 hacking scene remotely usinga vita should it go unnoticed. They’re only trying to keep their main console safe!

  4. tangra87

I wonted to see something on he store , and I saw that it requare an update , so I went to see in settings wath update is this and when get out of it I saw that there is something downoading!!!! 127mb (or something similar ,not exacly sure any more) and I stopped .It is great that they dont have legal rights to update our sistems without asking.

  5. fool

Is there a way to update to a specific firmware? I haven’t gotten my vita yet, but do have the PSM thing on my download list on PS3 (did I miss the boat completely on this?)

    • raul

      Check forums tutorial section.

    • Dustin May

I was able to use Charles Proxy to switch the download package for a Vita game with the package for the PSM Dev Assistant. That was a couple weeks ago so it may not work anymore, but you might seek a tutorial for doing that and give it a try.

      • Dustin May

Also you can install a specific firmware by downloading the .pup file for the firmware you want and installing it via USB drive in recovery mode.

  6. tangra87

    im in Spain

  7. rclr

I wish sony would update their xperia phones that fast, like how they update their gaming consoles ._.

  8. Patches

Figures im fn *** i use remote play i dont want to update and miss out on the native exploit hopefully a fw spoofer comes out first if not very soon

    • ch3wt0ys

Remote Play exists for Android phones, yes? What’s to stop anyone from reverse engineering the Android version and creating a application using Rejuvenate for the Vita?

I would not update for Remote Play, it seems like something easy to bypass or recreate using Rejuvenate.

  9. Smoker1

So if you are on 3.51, are there any already released TN,VHBL or Ark Exploits out there? Are there any plans to Announce any?

    • Padre

Good question.. isn’t there a exploit for 3.51/Pool Hall Pro to run VHBL?

Thanks for the heads up Yifan & Wololo

      • Smoker1

I know there is some JP Region Exploit that requires a Demo which is a VHBL Exploit. But dont know about NA Region

        • Padre

Yeah, I missed the JP free demo.. it got pulled before I could get to it. I’m almost positive the PHP exploit was not patched on 3.51 though

          • Smoker1

This requires a 2nd Device either PSP or Vita correct? Might need that info when it came out and the Files.
            6.20 PRO-C2 on the PSP?

          • Padre

No, I think this one was just a straight save game exploit. I’m looking for it as we speak.

          • nope

Second device is needed and no it’s not patched

          • David

Yep, they took the Japan tokiden demo off the store around on May. I didn’t know until last week.

          • Smoker1

Wololo Link to the PHP Exploit?
They did have the JP VHBL Demo in the NA Region. Has there been any talk of it working on that?

  10. bad1z

im glad i managed to update from 3.01 to 3.51 and get the PSM Dev Assistant (and get terraria installed) before the update was pushed

  11. The monkey

So I have psm on my download list but I missed the window to download it to my vita…. Is all hope for native homebrew lost for me? On 3.18 ( using ePSP in the meantime while waiting for browser exploit to turn something up.)

Probably no work around for the fact I missed the download window huh?

    • raul

It couldwork with PS3 and charles proxy trick

      • The monkey

I don’t think its even clickable. I’ll have to double check next time I go to my friends house ( my ps3 currently ylod, ridiculous that ps4 can’t do it).

Tried using Charles proxy for vita psn store. Didn’t work.

Any guides for using it on ps3 in terms of downloading apps?

        • brentt

DON’T UPDATE !!!!! you saw what yifanwrote ?: “Even if you can’t download/use PSM DevAssistant, hold off on 3.52 for now!” HE HAS A SOLUTION FOR YOU WHO DONT HAVE THE PSM APP !!!! just keep op 3.51 or lower!!!! he probably cracked the drm-lock open or something so you are able to pkg-install it !!!! and i’m sure he has an exploit on 3.51 for pkg-installer !!!

        • brentt

        • AliceTheGorgon

The short version is that you tell your PS3 to use your PC as a proxy server (port 8888), with Charles proxy running on it. Then you have your PS3 start downloading a game, send it to background downloads, and pause it.
On Charles proxy, you find the URL of the .pkg being downloaded, and right click -> “map local” to replace it with the .pkg for the dev assistant. (You can find a mediafire mirror linked on the forums somewhere).
When you resume the download on the PS3, it will start over from 0% after a moment or two. When it’s done, just transfer it to the Vita (both systems will still list it as whatever you started downloading initially at this point).

  12. Notwololo

Well, damnish… At least I just picked up jet set radio before the update, but I won’t be able to use PS Now anymore 🙁

  13. sakao

Well, sorry sony but this time I’m not updating !
Waiting patiently for PSM+ instead :).
Thanks to all devs for their hard work so far!
Btw, can’t access to “some details here” link (not authorised) but I’m not a regular, so I guess it’s normal.

    • sakao

On a side note they should do like nintendo: no online playing for those who are banned but still access to the eshop and able to buy games (9.2FW). At least they still have some money…

  14. ZeRo_Bahamut

I’ll be staying on 3.51 aswell, I was wondering though, is there anyway to sync new gained trophies without updating/logging in to PSN?

  15. dgf149

Quoted from the psm devportal news:
“For those developers using PSM Development Assistant/ PSM Development Assistant for Unity, we kindly ask you to stop using the application and delete it from your PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita).”
I’m dying of laughter right now lol
Here is the link if ya wanna check it out:https://en-support.psm.playstation.net/app/answers/detail/a_id/347

  16. RON

We are only adding additional features to it , and not piratizing any PSV games. T.T

    • jay

That’s what they said when people started hacking PSP.

And look what happened, most pirated console ever. Trust me alot of selfish greedy people out there who only wants this to pirate game, pathetic

  17. Branko

There is a tutorial how to bypass this update and use the PS Store and never to fear of updates again. http://wololo.net/talk/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=43196#p391026

  18. deathblade200

considering I can’t play toukiden or freedom wars online now because of the required update this psm+ thing better be worth it

    • Reeker

      Man, try Vita Update Blocker.

      • deathblade200

even if it does work its only a temp fix and will stop working soon so I’m tempted to just say *** it an update as most likely this exploit is for the most part going to bring emulators to the vita and I can already emulate perfectly on my Nvidia Shiled Portable

    • lolzoar

Yeah, you’re on 3.51 so you can just use VitaUpdateBlocker to get access to PSN on your Vita. Use it while you can because when they release their next firmware update (whatever version it may be) you will not be able to use the blocker any more.

If Sony was “evil” they would issue another compulsory patch update to weed out those who were still on 3.51 using the blocker with PSM Dev installed 😀

      • nope

Nah they’ll just wait a week and update the certificates so no one can use it anyways like they always do.

  19. Jamx

Well, there goes the ability to remote play my PS4 with that PSM Dev installed Vita.

  20. AliceTheGorgon

The “some details here” link for PSM+ requires special forum access, just FYI. A lot of us probably can’t read it.

  21. gui

Thx god. i have 2 psvitas, one 3.51 psm dev and other 3.30 hacked. XD.

  22. itsAs0ny

“Please stop using and delete PSM Development Assistant / PSM Development Assistant for Unity…We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.”, Sony says.

    https://en-support.psm.playstation.net/app/answers/detail/a_id/347

No thanks and I don’t understand so fxxx off.

All sony’s doing for years is remove features, block homebrews and *** their user off.

  23. Internally_blazed

For some reason I can’t access that part of the forum, where it says click here forlet you run Rejuvenate without a publisher’s license. Any idea why?

    • AliceTheGorgon

It’s just info about that feature, at the moment, not the actual release, but yeah, it’s blocked to me and a bunch of other folks too. Probably a minor oversight that will get sorted out soon.

  24. ChrisHighwind

Sony, I love you, but are you trying to make the Vita nothing more than a dust collector? You stamp out any unauthorized attempts to breathe some life into the thing without using it as anything more than dumping grounds for indie titles and third-party Japanese games.

  25. num

I believe that with the psm dev other ways and new flaws are known. future think new exploits may be made without the psm dev.

  26. huz84

3.51 Psm dev on pc Psm when look YouTube

  27. doubtrust03

if you don’t have PSM app. or any PSM thingy like me can i still get any of these by downloading it using pc then transfer to my vita or any kind of trick or something like that?

  28. Niceneasy92

Hey, I’m trying to read the extra info about psm+ on the forums through your link but it says I’m not authorized. I’m signed in. What gives?

  29. meysam25

i will not update but plz guys we need to test new hacking .
i dont have key plz ting about us

  30. dreassic

I foudn it i got the msg it downloaded the update, it didnt update yet tgo, how do u remove the update file?

  31. Runehasa

Do we know exactly what the Rejuvenate hack is going to do for us over all yet? I am at a cross roads if I want to update my vita to “rejuventate” my remote play capabilities. I guess what I am asking does this have the same limitations of the past hacks where it only opens up the options to play PSP and or Emulators or is this something different with more potential. I have a PSP right now that does everything all the past vita hacks does and it does it well. If this new Rejuvenate hack can possibly open the door to Vita backups though I would be willing to wait on whatever firmware forever.

    • Dustin May

From what I understand, this exploit will allow homebrew to utilize the full power of the Vita, unlike past exploits which just allowed the Vita to run PSP software. With Rejuvenate, we can anticipate homebrews that use the Vita’s touch screen, etc., as well as more powerful emulators.

      • Dustin May

That said, I don’t think playing backups will become possible; at least not on this exploit.

  32. Asmith906

Can I still download my PSM games? I wanted to download Chaos Rings does this render it unplayable.

    • Dustin May

You should be able to download any Vita games to your PS3, then you can use QCMA to transfer them to your Vita using the Content Manager without needing a PSN connection.

  33. Unfør

Damm!t, I wanted to play J Stars online (at least not in japanese).
    Why $ony?
Anyway, a lot of thanks to the scene to let this console run something new 😀

  34. Obito

This Rejuvenate thing, isn’t it a dead end road? I mean, noone is now able to download PSM, and noone will ever be, so, what’s the point on making a “Vita scene” of it? Only 10 people will use it.

    • wololo

That’s actually a good question, and I have 2 answers:
      1) There are thousands of people who managed to get PSM installed on their device for the purpose of the hack. Not only 10 🙂
      2) People running the hack on 3.51 will have a better chance at investigating the device, potentially finding flaws in future firmwares. This is how the PSP was constantly hacked.

      • jay

Is there anyway just to enable homebrew but not piracy? I don’t want this to be like PSP where every single game dev including indies drop developing for it because it was hacked for piracy too much, also i want to thank the developers who made games for Vita when others don’t and support these devs.
Alot of devs from PSP time did not make games for Vita because of the huge debacle in the past which their expensive years hard worked games hardly made any money and actually lost money. IF devs see they kept Vita piracy-free this long im sure ALL the devs will come back to the new PS Vita 2

        • Josh

If someone finds a way to pirate vita games and use them on the Vita, it’s their choice to release it or not…
          We can’t stop them.

        • Anon

Read up on what Rejuvenate is and what it isn’t before posting whatever that flow of conscience was.

Also, you seem to imply that Vita has anything worth pirating which hasn’t been on sale for at least a year already. Rest assured, if a game was worth paying for, everyone interested has already bought it by now.

Vita game market is less than completely dead only in Japan, and if no fun must be allowed for us waitu piggus in the west to keep the domestic market that way, then so be it.

Why do you think Nintendo doesn’t care about rampant piracy on the 3DS?

  35. gamegard

Great job guys keep going like this and for Sony we all must show ..the middle finger

  36. thao

What the point Sony let us do these since you guy barely has game for the vita or something new….hoping for the ff7 remake on ps vita too

  37. Giovanni

Well that sounds bad, Sony seems to stay strict with their holy Vita. If I understood well, I can safely update to 3.51 , but not to 3.52. Problem is: I want to go to 3.51 and I’m currently on 3.15. The fact that the Zload severs are down makes it impossible to do so. Does anybody know which Game forces me to 3.51 or any other way to get this update done?
Would be helpful…my Vita was not used quite a while.

    • Dustin May

Find a download for the 3.51.pup and install it via USB in recovery mode.

      • Giovanni

I already have the .PUP file (PSVUPDAT.PUP) , but in the tutorial to do it via the Recovery Menu you must have all 3 Versions. Anyway, Where do I have to put the file when I try it?

      • Giovanni

I edited the xml properly and hope it’s gonna work. It is in progress. Thx

  38. Aramaru

Funny how quick they are to pull useless updates when blocking something is involved but improve functionality updates are where ? My crappy browser could use extra memory and some improvements as watching videos on youtube, since they killed youtube app is sometimes really instable pain in the ***.

I too am loosing multiplayer in Dragon’s crown which i did not finish yet and in DOA but I really lost any trust in sony long ago so I will put my trust in Yifan and hacking comunity, if working on PSM could lead to better understanding of console and potential new hacks, maybe one day i’ll live to see better browser and dlc region free Vita and other usefull stuff. Ah… it would be amazing if some good PC games could be ported to vita :P.

  39. str8upAHASSHOLE

Sonys security dev team took a big dump in their undies knowing that this exploit has good potential. This site needs to keep track of who works for sony so you can send them a virus or have them download a file thinking its the exploit and crashes the tools they use.

    • wololo

Yeah, err, no, we won’t do that. My goal is to run software I own on the device I own. Not to end in jail

    • deathblade200

can’t tell if you are just stupid or a major troll….sony is doing nothing more then protecting their device from piracy which if I was them I would be doing the same thing…oh yeah I want my vita hacked but not for piracy I want to see its full potential I want to see if its performance can be boosted via cpu or cpu settings… I want to disable that auto brightness setting in games and I want to be able to decompress games such as borderlands 2 to make them run much better I already own over 100 games on vita and the last thing I want is piracy and online “hackers” ruining a good thing
