Gateway 3.2 Ultra Public Beta is out
Gateway did it again. Here comes another update to Gateway flashcart, Gateway 3.2 and I must say I am really impressed with this update. EmuNAND 9.7 support for old 3DS and booting Gateway without depending on Cubic Ninja or Zelda: OOT for New 3DS are the biggest features of this update.
It has been sometime since the last 3.1.1 update of Gateway. It seems Team Gateway was working hard on this update. Also I have some suspicions that Team Gateway is “borrowing” (cough, cough) some stuff from 3DS Devs on the scene.
Gateway 3.2 Features
First big feature is 9.7 EmuNAND support for old 3DS. It has been known that EmuNAND support 9.6 and higher for new 3DS is very hard. It was suspected that Gateway was delaying EmuNAND support of >9.5 firmwares for old 3DS, to gain time to success EmuNAND support >9.5 on new 3DS and release both together. It seems that is not the case. Rx Tools has EmuNAND support >9.5 firmwares for old 3DS for sometime. So Gateway is a bit late for this feature.
Second big feature is multirom menu for New 3DS 8.1 Japanese region support. First batch of Japanese New 3DS series has 8.1 firmware. It is known that Gateway has some problems with this firmware like the problems with multirom menu etc. This update fixes these problems. It is possible to update a 8.1 firmware New 3ds to 9.0/9.2 manually but it has a risk of brick if you don’t know what you are doing. So, this feature is appreciated for the Japanese New 3DS users from the first batches.
Third feature is the best feature for me without a doubt: System Settings 4.5 support for New 3DS! Yes, you guessed it right. This will let New 3DS owners use the MSET exploit we know from 4.x series old 3DS. It is the fastest exploit available, it doesn’t need internet connection or any retail game cartridge. You just choose the DS profile in System Settings and voila. Also you won’t even need the blue card (which is blocked on new 3DS anyways unless you install a DS flashcart whitelist hack to your sysNAND.) This is possible via installing an older version of System Settings to your new 3DS. Think of it like semi-downgrading. You only downgrade the System Settings part of your console to 4.5. As this needs some stuff installed to your sysNAND, double check everything before doing and keep in mind that even little, you always have a risk of brick. This (using MSET hack on a new 3DS) was also demonstrated via 3DS devs before.
Also, keep in mind that latest safe firmware for Gateway is 9.2 on both old and new 3DS just like most of the major hacks/exploits out there for 3DS.
Hope you like the new update, I did. SOURCE
Cool 😀 thanks for info
I have always wondered if these cards work on the 2ds considering that it is supposed to have the same basic functionality as the 3ds.
I also noticed no comments and thought about starting the flame war for fun….
yeah, it works on 2ds too. Same firmware restriction (max 9.2) applies.
Thanks for the info
Wasn’t expecting anything for awhile, great news!
I believe not, you still need CN or OOT for this as per instruction, you just don’t need to use it “frequently” anymore..

From now on, New 3DS users can rejoice that they no longer need to constantly use Cubic Ninja or Zelda Ocarina of Time
Just follow these simple steps:
4) Boot into the Gateway menu with your preferred entrypoint (Zelda or Cubic Ninja)

…
Though I’m just basing on instructions, correct me if I’m wrong..
MSET exploit itself doesn’t need game cartridges. That is what i said in the article. The need for Zelda and Cubic Ninja is one time only (unless you play DS games) for installing the MSET exploit and i am nearly sure that it can be replicated by DS flashcards or web installers.
you mean, I can still instal MSET exploit on N3DS without CN or OOT entirely? I only have DSTwo as my DS flashcard, will it be possible?
You still need a way to exploit the N3DS for the one time install. If you plan on playing DS games the MSET exploit gets uninstalled and will need to be reinstalled after every time you play a DS game
^^This. At least for now.
First. This isn’t that cool.
Never mind.
Good, no one likes you or your opinions anyways
Neverminding. And you were fifth by the way. Epic FAIL. 😛
Can’t wait for my Gateway to come in the mail even more now.
Ive been thinking to buy a 3ds for while.. so if I buy gateway flashcart I can play downloaded games?
You’d need a 3DS (or New 3DS/XL) that’s at or below firmware version 9.2.0. I got a New 3DS XL about a month ago from Gamestop, but they’re probably getting rarer. AFAIK, there’s not way to check the firmware before buying. You could get a used one and ask to check it before buying (firmware version is in the settings menu), but they might be updated already.
You’d also need to get either Cubic Ninja or the Ocarina of Time official cart once to set up the exploit mentioned. They haven’t found a way around the initial requirement yet.
It’s also impotant to note, you can also use a sky3ds to access gateway by loading cubic and the correct oot rom on the sky, it’s more expensive but this is an alternative route considering there will be *** all cubics and the correct version retail oots out there now.
gbatemp has a list of firmware versions for new 3DS. You can check it without opening the box.

lol are you sure about that? there’s no way to install the exploit without Cubic ninja or OOT? lol I guess you never heard about the Spidertools exploit for the browser.
That exploit is only on the original 3ds and 2ds not NEW 3ds.
Anyone get the mset thing working on a New 3DS XL?
Fisrtly, the “DevMenu.3ds” file was nowhere to be found in the 3.2 download.
I tried installing the cia with bigbluemenu, but it said it was invalid.
I hunted down a copy of devmenu from an old post about the 3DS 4.5 firmware, the cia installed, but there was no change in the settings menu in either sysnand or emunand.
I’m out of ideas here.
Yes you need to find DevMenu on the googles.. You need this, because BigBlue doesn’t install the .cia.. Also, if this isn’t working for you, you may want to check if you installed it to the emuNAND vs sysNAND.. the way you can tell, is if you’re in emuNAND check the settings to see if there’s an option for Super Stable 3D calibration.. If not, you downgraded emuNAND..
You probably want to get a separate card to install the files to, and boot Gateway menu using sysNAND, downgrade, then switch back to your emuNAND microSD. If you already fudged your emuNAND settings menu, get 3DSNUS1.9 download the 0004001000021000.cia .. this is the 9.5 system menu that you can upgrade back to (i did the same thing on both my N3DS and N3DSXL, but resolved it)
Confirmed it works on US N3DSXL and EUR N3DS. let me know if you have any questions..
Thanks for the very informative post.
OK, ***, you posted what I said about using a spare MicroSD. Does work best. Read on the GW Forum that if you want to bypass the EmuNAND, hold Up when pressing A on the GW Menu. Yeah, that did not work. tried it 2x. Finally I just said the heck with it and grabbed a Blank Card and did it that way. Works like a charm now. Saw this and did a dance in my head. LOL
It took a bit of fiddling, but that was it. Thanks! 🙂
glad it helped! I jumped all over this when it came out, and rushed in too quick to realize what I was doing.. luckily it wasn’t permanent and was easily fixable 😉
Works PERFECTLY…….after you get it done and over with. Process can be a pain in the butt. To make things easier, if you have a spare black MicroSD lying around, use that to get it going, then afterwards, go back to your usual MSD. Now can use only the Red Card to Load GW 😀
Is it only Japanese New 3DSs that support it?
No all regions. Japanese New 3DS with 8.1 firmware had some compatibility problems with Gateway. They were solved with this update.
I think they were delaying for a batch emuNAND update, but it took too long, so they released.
Yeah i guess so. It was meaningless to wait in the first place.
Good veryyy good!!
BE WARNED: There are some reports of this Update not working for some and they are doing everything correctly. DevMenu just gives a Blank Screen. Everything else works perfectly up to this point.
