    First!

It’s definitely propaganda for people using CFW and Ark to update 😛

  3. cross says:

si, suena como a trampa para que actualizamos no tengamos las burbujas tan facilmente

  4. DigitalChaos says:

    I think its too late

  5. TheTetrapod says:

Just let me know when I can hack my Vita without a second device. That’s all I care about.

    • totalNoob_vs_theZ says:

you never know, make sure you do not update. programmers always seem to find a way.i could’ve sworn my PSvita was 3.36 or so, then when i was ready to update to the latest FM i was like: let me check this thing one last time and bingo. i had 3.18.
funny thing is, even with 3.18 i was not aware that you can still DL exploited games ( i thought expl games could only be downloaded within that 24h windows before sony pulls it out)
well, long story short i found a site where it says that if you have 3.18 you still can DL the expl games. thats what i did and have my PSvita running TN- V and X
i really wonder if there are more people like me on 3.18, still waiting for expl games to come out….

    • AliceTheGorgon says:

Just wait until any of the regular 3.36 games are added back to the PSN store, and transfer them with a PS3. (Assuming you have a PS3).

      http://www.zload.net/bilder/PSVita/VitaExploitChart.png

Alternate methods are using VitaUpdateBlocker, or possibly the “downwload queue trick”.
Neither of those are guaranteed to work on later firmwares though, so if you’ve got a PS3 (preferably running rebug 4.70) then you’re set.

      • TheTetrapod says:

Sorry, but your assumption is flawed. My only other Sony products are my bluray player and my PSTV, which is also updated to 3.50. I did buy the pool game, though.

  6. SmashADBurn says:

    Lol, upcoming games?

  7. O-bake says:

“What do you think about this move? Will upcoming games take advantage of it or is it too late for Vita?”
Depends on what games are coming up. My humble guess is: none. So, I don’t care.

  8. Quade321 says:

Well, at least it’s compatible with all PS Vita systems, unlike PSP1000 -> PSP2000. No games used the extra 32MB of RAM. Did they really just put that in for Skype and other nearly useless system features? Anyway, maybe some developers will actually use it since it’s compatible with all PS Vita systems. Just like any other game, right? Gotta update to the firmware required before you can play it.

  9. wilfredo says:

yeah this new update toasted my 8 gb memory card
do not update people everything was fine until i updated

    • lolzoar says:

      What do you mean???

      • Sky Yuki says:

The new update have many issues
That happen or not happen at all to someone
The problem are listed as below
-Fail to transfer from CMA to vita
        -Crash on game startup
-Crash mid game (?) <This only happen to me once

        • Dero says:

Thats Strange. I’ve been playing my Vita alot since the update has been released and i have yet to run into a problem.

          • Crzo says:

This is like gamebreaking bugs, some people might finish the game several times and never encounter them, some people might run into several of them…

  10. MilesC says:

I have been seeing *** frame rates on the bubbles menu with a lot of things open. Even with games like luftrausers.(I had this when I had 95 bubbles on a 16 GB MEM card). I wish it could of been the same because the only thing I like about the UI is the smooth FPS. I could also see how the crash from standby reports are linked to this. Lets hope they make the UI use less RAM next update.

  11. anonanon says:

Was most probably reserved for additional system features, I don’t see this as I good thing, not at all. Giving more to games means Sony has given up advancing the software and/OR apps. Though I guess we don’t need anymore signs that Sony has given up on the Vita D:

  12. Gaze says:

I’m more interested in the Unity conference. Unity on PSV died with PSM for the most part. Wonder if it will come back…

  13. lmao says:

More RAM unlocked, i guess MH5 and GE3 incoming.. probably they introduced “gaming mode” switch to programmer so they can for psvita to turn off non-gaming feature/process when it runs a very demanding game.

  14. N says:

Why does everyone think the vita is “dying”? If it was dying, they wouldn’t be sold in stores, Sony wouldn’t be producing anymore. Just because something doesn’t have a *** ton of games, that doesn’t mean it’s dead.

    • Guest9987 says:

Except it does have “a ***ton of games”; Vita has more games(1100) than 3DS(650)/PS4(665)/XBOX ONE(464)/Wii U(597). All games are documented and legitimate, I would ignore anyone who thinks Vita has no games or even little amount of games; If Vita has no games, then the rest are non-existent on games.

  15. deathblade200 says:

this would explain why I had noticed Terraria and Minecraft Worlds loading MUCH faster…although I’m sure somebodies going to come in here saying a game MUST have a patch to use it…I don’t believe that at all I think games like Minecraft and Terraria already allocate as much ram as available to them (only when needed with more objects on screen of course)

    • theWizard says:

The only way they would be able to do that is through a function call telling the program how much memory is available on the stack. Even at that I would see this as being useful for rendering more objects on screen or higher res textures instead of a more iterative task like loading the game.

      • deathblade200 says:

its not only loading the game that was just one example you can have more objects on screen before it starts slowing down as well…my world in Terraria that use to lag because I have to much shiny *** everywhere now works much smoother for example

  16. Lennyvita says:

Not worth updating. Sony dont release many AAA games to take advantage of the extra memory.

If Sony was like Nintendo and had an extensive library of games and AAA games that take advantage of the memory. i would be all for that.

The only reason why I have 2 vitas is this site. The people here care more about the vita and its potential than Sony.

I will keep my vitas on 3.18. Sony has left the Vita to die. so offering 30% more memory is like putting a more powerful motor in a car without wheels. its still not going anywhere.

    the vita needs.

    1. AAA games – it is what sells systems, even the worst hardware will sell with great games.

    2. Reasonably prices memory cards- another article here i agree with.

    3. Fix the annoying small issues. Add DS controller support, Fix the PS4 remote play profile issue. build a hdmi out card to jam in the expansion slot (pipe dream)

    4. Advertise the vita, and Market it. I see the vita store shelves getting smaller by the week.

sites like this is keeping the vita alive and giving hope for the future.

Dont fall for Sonys 30% memory increase, it will just be wasted memory.

    • mixedfish says:

That’s just your opinion, if you think there are no games. I don’t play very much Vita but there are always 1 or 2 games every few months that has me interested. You can name all these ‘AAA’ 3DS games all you want, but to me they are mostly uninteresting Monster collecting type games with odd exceptions of a few JRPGs.

      • Lennyvita says:

I agree with you , There are plenty of great Vita games. most are now DLC and not AAA or physical releases but still good.

I dont own a 3ds. i just would hope Sony treated the Vita better having such great hardware and potential. if Nintendo had the hardware we would see many more games.

  17. asd says:

I want to know is this upgrade 30% to 665.5MB or just unlock 30% to 512M?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

    • Gikero says:

Physically, there is only 512MB system RAM. So if 256MB was being used for OS and extra services, and they freed up 30% of that 256MB, you’d gain an extra 77MB (rounded up) of addressable memory that could go towards games and apps.

I don’t have the slightest idea how the Vita allocates it’s memory, I just made up the 256/256 split for the example.

Translation for Brazilian Portuguese to be checked or not used at all done by fatman!

    • fatman01923 says:

Lol afff was beat to the punch! Oh well the translation on the site is better, at least I got some more practice in… Anyway I think its too late for the Vita to take advantage of this claim if it is in fact true. Tripple A games are just not being made for the Vita nowadays and I doubt we will see many games that would benefit from it. hehe my 2 cents.

  19. fvig2001 says:

Reminds me of the time I got suckered by Microsoft to update my XBox 360 when they added compression to games copied from DVDs and they removed the JTAG ability with that update.

  20. Ricky D says:

These guys constantly misrepresent specs. For all we know they’re talking about the game size limit being increased and not the RAM. Go look on the PS store at some PS2 games for example and see where it says that a partition needs to be created? They’re talking about a PS2 mem card which is nothing but a save file – not a partition. They don’t even know they’re own terminology

  21. woof says:

    No it’s not

  22. jake says:

So, why does my smartyfone have mucho gusto ram and my PS Vita not so much? Why couldn’t the screen on my Vita have been larger or doubled like the Nintendo DS? Sony needs to either go big or go home.

    • Gikero says:

The Vita had a good amount when it was released. It wasn’t the highest end device, but respectable. Phones have continued to improve while the Vita hardware doesn’t really change.

The PSP had 32MB of system RAM and a 333Mhz CPU, yet it easily out performed the first few iPhone generations because it was a specialized device. Just because a device has X amount of RAM or processing power, does not mean the game can utilize that 100%.
Some has to be allocated for OS and other services on the console.

As far as “going big”, I don’t expect another handheld from Sony.

  23. DavidTheTech says:

That’s why some times the main area where all of the apps are some times jitters a lot or when you download some videos then delete them the main area will jitter a lot until restart of the system

  24. gunblade says:

cool. Well I am getting a vita slim an vita tv next month. Going to update so I can remote play with the Ps3. Hopefuly I can get some new games. Maybe get anader ps3 so I can download more games.

    • gunblade says:

Hopefuly Sony dosent get a new update for the Ps vita before then.

    • Reprep says:

You don’t have to update to remote play with ps3. PS4 needs that. There is also not many remote play enabled games on PS3. If you have cfw on your PS2, it is a different story.

  25. 1 says:

Shows that “useless” firmware update might not be that useless after all =)

    • Crzo says:

I guess developers won’t start jumping to make AAA games just because of this… Useless firmware still useless…

      • 1 says:

They do in Japan in many cases. Maybe it wont have any effect for you personally, but its definitelly not useless, especially not for the developers.

  26. totalNoob_vs_theZ says:

not really thrilled about this thing. Vita is already very powerful, lets lower the price of memory cards and get some good JRPGs

  27. jkoiou says:

I believe the removal of some of the “original key features” such as near, has something to do with the extra memory. This stinks of a similar thing Microsoft did with the removal of the Kinext from the One.

  28. Jack Attack says:

All this confirms is that Sony is done with the Vita platform. It’s a wretched peasant to Sony. They’re done. As such, after cutting services and knowing they won’t be doing much more with it, besides patch for the boogeyman, they might as well give the memory to those that still do care. The few developers supporting the system in Japan and the indie developers out west.

Thank goodness most JRPGs on consoles suck and now most of them are going to PC, even if late. Sony is dead to me once the tap is cut on the Vita. I’m already skipping the PS4 now that most Japanese developers put their games on PC.

    Goodbye Sony.

    • Jay says:

      Pfft LOL
Is that why you see PC Port beggars begging all over Sony JRPG games?

Your PC won’t get Final Fantasy Xv, DISSIDIA, Type-0 and Kingdom Hearts 3, Star Ocean 5, Persona 5, Disgaea 5 and many more ALL only in Playstation! PS4 including the definitive editions and exclusives the really old gen won’t have 😛
