Alright people, Qwikrazor’s ePSP exploit on PS Vita firmware 3.36 and 3.50 is just around the corner, and today we announce the game you need to buy in order to leverage his exploit.
Let me use this article to remind you once again that this is not the most convenient exploit in the world, as it requires a second device. We have answered many questions about this limitation in a FAQ I posted a couple days ago, so please do read it. Do not go and buy the game without understanding the limitations that come with this release.
With that being said, this exploit will give you access to a full fledged ePSP CFW on your Vita.
Today we’ll only announce the name of the exploited game. The actual files will come in a few days. Historically, we’ve proceeded this way to add some doubt into Sony’s mind about the fact that the hack is real or not, in order to buy us some time before they take action. This has usually not been very successful, but for the sake of tradition we keep going with the same pattern.
The game is Pool Hall Pro, also known as World of Pool in EU
Yes, this is not a typo: a bug was found yet again in a game that has already been exploited several times before.
To my knowledge, the game is only available in the US and EU stores. There is no guarantee the exploit works on JP or Asia stores.
A quick note: if you’re on the fence, Qwikrazor has stated that the US version is more stable than the EU one. For those of you who have two accounts, or were considering getting a US account, now might be the time. You can buy US PSN codes at no extra cost even if you don’t live in the US, by following these simple steps.
We expect Sony to remove the game from their online store within 48h, as they usually do. Get it now if you want the hack, don’t complain later if you missed the window. Be sure to have the game downloaded and installed on your vita. Having it in your download list is not enough.

Try plugging your Vita in via USB, uninstalling it from device manager, and starting over. I don’t know why CMA hated me, but I had to do that before every transfer session.

You need to use queue trick to download any games from PSN website, it will activate your vita, since you have 3.36. If you have a FW ver lower that 3.36, you can activate using PS3 & qcma/opencma transfer trick. Your vita will be activated even the transfer failed.
Now when you say “full fledged eCFW” does that mean the whole PSP XMB, like TN-V?
eCFW as in “plays ISOs”.
XMB is TN-V only and only TN himself can update it to support 3.3x/3.50.

What does the XMB have to do with CFW? To my knowledge the XMB is Sony’s software, why would Sony make software for a CFW?
XMB is XMB, CFW is CFW.

It is used on PSP and ps3.
Epsp on psv does not have the Xcross Media Bar in the system. TN brings it back with his CFW.
Other types of CFW do not use the XMB.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have a Vita tv with an older firmware (3.2), would I need to pick up this game, or are some of the older exploitable games that are still purchasable on psn unpatched?
If you have PS# it might be possible to transfer the game with it otherwise I dont think it is possible.
I do have a ps3; I’m just wondering if the older exploits on psn were patched or if they still worked on older firmware.
Sony patches firmwares, not games. So they still work. I’d recommend you to go for any of the 3.18/3.20 exploits

So what’s the point of 3.36 and beyond? Not sure why most Ppl didn’t just stick with 3.18. Things will get very interesting if the WebKit gets used only 3.18-20 will work unless they find a new vulnerability. If u want a one day vitasploit then stop updating ur damn vita get a ps3 to download your games for it. Think of the 3ds scene only 4.5 and lower could be hacked for a while now its 9.2 but Ppl update and cry BC there’s no support. Just putting it out there patience is a virtue and the reward will be worth it. Besides how many of are Vita’s are paper weights lmao.
they probably already have another vurnability for the webkit exploit, they are just not releasing it to the public yet so they can build something usefull out of it and learn more about the psvita
If the webkit has already been used to pull some modules off the Vita (as per that post on ARM assembly) wouldn’t that be the extent of it’s usefulness? What I mean is that it seems like once an exploit is found in one of those modules, it may not even use the webkit to access it, depending on how it works. I don’t know much about it though, this is pure speculation!
they can still try to get more out of it, maybe they find via the webkit exploit other vurnabilities, who knows?

If you manage to get another device somehow, then yes.
The other games will be back on the store, most probably. How soon? I don’t know, but a PS3 might be required by then.
I bought the game anyway incase I get my hands on a PSP.
But if not, I’ll wait for any of the other games to come back.

you can’t use a ps3 as second device for this hack, u need or a psvita with an exploit already running on it to play the rol of injecting the code, or u need a psp on cfw 6.XX

It’s worth a shot. If it doesn’t work, it’s possible (though a bit involved) to update to 3.36 without going to 3.50.

You can use a hacked psp. If you need to, get one off eBay. They dont cost very much anymore.

If you only have one device you’ll need to wait till one of the regular exploit games is readded to the store. This list will show you what games would work.

I have a tip. if you live in the US, buy a used psp from game stop. They give you 7 days to return it. I did this today and i will return it as soon as the exploit files are released.

I suggest you to keep your PS Vita stay on 3.36 or below. The difference between 3.36 and 3.50 is that…. if you upgrade to FW 3.50, you will need both devices “each time” you want to boot into the exploit. Stay 3.36 or below is correct. Read what above suggested. Perhaps you should also consider 3.18 (vita tv white, if you have black ps tv, 3.20) and wait for vita native exploit.
If you want to stay on the edge, stay on 3.18. That’s where all the native stuff is being developed. Also, if you have a PS3 you can get TN-V on this firmware. 3.36 blocks a lot of the features in 3.18, because a lot of stuff was leaked and released for that firmware. Go to 3.18, is my advice.

I believe thats why you need a hacked psp, so you can download the iso without the need to update it (torrents are your friends).
Your PSP will need to be on a 6.xx version firmware. Just follow this guide and everything will be fine.

I already had my ISO backup of this game in my hacked PSP years ago, and I am sure my PSP can join the multiplayer game created by my PS TV successfully. Do I still have to download this game via PS Store and install it on my hacked PSP? (Wondering if the version of game would make a difference.)
You need to have the game on the Vita/PSTV. The PSP will likely only need to run a custom app that injects the multiplayer payload.

Thanks for the great news (and for the Ninja Release before that). Still on 3.36, but I did get Numblast only on the EU Store… And now I want to use my US account as my main, cause the Psone games on the EU stores are crappy 50hz versions. And I just can’t stand to switch between accounts. The only thing that kept me returning on my Euro account was the Numb Exploit, to play Psp games that never came out on VITA, like Crisis Core, Type-0 or Valkyrie Profile.

Mmmm, so you need a hacked console with the game to start a multiplayer session and transfer the exploit files to the vita, mmmm call me a crazy, but if the game has that type of flaw, it should be possible to start a fake multiplayer session using a pc and some kind of code, anyway Im not a coder and I already got my vita hacked on the best version 3.18 waiting for an amazing web exploit or a CFW but in the meantime Playing on my 3DS with my CFW without spend any $ on flash cards.
Bought and downloaded on my Vita. Can’t seem to find my memory stick for my old PSP-3000, ordered a new one. Do you have to have the game on both systems, or just the Vita?

It doesn’t work on 3.18. Queue trick only works on previous FW eg: when 3.50 announced, 3.36 can use the queue temporarily. U need a PS3, if I were you, I’ll go buy any 3.18 exploit (read the forum) 🙂 cheers
What do you mean “nothing happens”? If you mean the hack doesn’t run, that’s because the hack won’t be released for another few days.
If you mean the game doesn’t run, then I have no idea what the problem is.
As for exploiting your 3.18 device, the recommended way would have been to get one of the “3.20 or below” games from this list.

This hack will probably need someone to design a specific payload to work on 3.18, so if the hack doesn’t work for you when it’s released, try asking on the forums.

Ah. Drat. I have no experience with getting downloads to work on 3.18 sadly, so hopefully someone else is able to help.
Do you have a PS3 to download it to, then transfer to vita?
i would also suggest Talkman Travel Tokyo ( loads TN-X fast) and XS moto ( needed for psx sound) if on 3.18.

I don’t understand if I’m on ark2, is there really a need to update to this, does it support ps1 iso’s better? With sound? What’s so special about the ecfw? Basically PSP total system on the vita but then do all the plugins work for it? What about ir shell capability?
If you’re already on ARK-2, don’t update. Nothing new yet, this just allows people on higher firmwares to run ARK.

You *need* a PSP, or access to a hacked Vita, for this hack. If you’re on 3.36 you only need it once. If you’re on 3.50 you need it every time you want to run ARK.
I forgot to mention, if you’re on 3.36, all you need to do is wait for one of the old exploit games to be returned to the store. Check this list for which ones will work.

I just bought mine using my PSN account on PC. I am now on the process of downloading the game via the “Download Queue Trick.” The trick works for me by following the guide, at least.

I doubt it. A significant number of console hacking scene devs seem to be rather anti-piracy (for various reasons), and so a release that *required* piracy would be quite frowned upon by quite a few of the folks doing the actual work.
Also, note how in the news about the hack that there was no mention of anything required by the hacked device other than having the device; whereas with the device being hacked, they specifically mentioned that it would need the game, and what firmwares the hack was targeting, which firmwares could use bubbles to re-trigger the hack, etc.
ill have to correct you, it DOES use a ISO file for the hacked device and uses a plugin when the game starts and you put it in adhoc host mode and the non-hacked device join then the malicious code will be inserted.

Apparently some games are just not available in some countries, sadly.
Best bet is to stay on low firmware and wait for one of the needed games to be readded to the store.

***, the online store won’t let me go through with the transaction. I added it to the basket, proceeded to the transaction, entered my password… then a popup window appears with a 404 error. Does anyone here have a way around this? I’m really adamant on getting this to work.

Changing browsers did the trick. I’ve got not idea why it didn’t work on Chrome, but it worked fine on Firefox.
Now I’ve got a new problem: the game won’t download to my Vita! It’s in the download queue, I’ve checked multiple times. I’ve also restarted my Vita multiple times, without avail. It won’t automatically connect to my Wifi, which worries me greatly. Does anyone here have a solution?

If it won’t connect to wifi, that’s a problem with your wifi setup. Worst case scenario, try disabling wifi security and see if that works. You can always re-enable it once you’ve got the game installed.
The thing is, it does connect to my wifi, but only when I’m doing something that connects to the internet, such as using the browser. This same problem was happening about a year ago when I tried it on a different game. Not really sure what’s going on, but I’m afraid that I’m gonna have to sit this one out.

Got a PsVita running 2.12 firmware and no PS#. Can I just update to 3.36 firmware, buy the game and run the exploit (I have a psp with custom firmware) ? Or should I stay on 2.12 and wait for something else ?
That would work, but you should probably stick with 3.18 or lower so that you can have access to the native mode exploit with webkit once they’ve got that all figured out.

Actually I bought Urbanix, Uno and Gameocracy by the past. None of these games are on my PsVita unfortunately. I was thinking buy a PS3 but never did it …

Sony only patches firmware, not games, thankfully; so as long as you have a firmware version equal to, or below, the one noted in the image next to the game, then you can use that game with the appropriate hack to get the eCFW/Bubbles running.
Note that downloading the games on lower firmwares is the hard part, as Sony does occasionally update how PSN and the store work, but if you can get the right game on the right firmware, you’ll be good to go.
Since you already have some games bought on the store, I’d recommend trying to download one of them with the “add game to download queue” method before buying any other exploit games, to make sure that that method still works.

And, of course, if you can’t get Gameocracy to work (which would allow you to stay on 2.12), I’d recommend trying 3.18 before updating to 3.36.

So my next try will be update the firmware to the 3.18 and then try to download one of my bought game. If it works, I think I will buy World of Pool.

If you’re able to download games from 3.18, I’d recommend getting any of the exploit games listed as “3.20 or below” rather than world of pool. Those will be easier to use, as they don’t require using another device to trigger the hack. Especially since there are a few demos that would work, and so you won’t even have to spend any money.
I’m now on 3.18 firmware. I tried to download games but It failed.
In addition, on the ps store I cant find the demo.

If 3.18 didn’t work, then try updating to 3.36. You should be able to connect to the store with the VitaUpdateBlocker:

The only change from that tutorial is that you should get “vita_update_blocker_v1.2.exe” instead of “VitaUpdateBlocker.exe”
That’s how I was able to get the game on my 3.36 Vita.
One minor note, after opening the store, I had to disable the proxy on the Vita, and then return to the still running store app in order for the download to work. It may take a little while for the download to start, so be patient and wait for it. If it gives you an error, just try again and it will probably work.
Just to reiterate:
1. Setup the update blocker.
2. Connect to wifi with the update blocker proxy.
3. Run the store, and go to the page for the game.
4. Disable the proxy from the Vita (not by closing the app on your computer).
5. Return to the *still running* store app.
6. Purchase and download the game.
7. Make sure the game runs.
Sorry it took so long for me to reply. Hopefully the game will still be available long enough for you to get it.
Perhaps It’s better to stay in 3.18 in order to be ok when a native exploit will be ?
That’s up to you. It might be a while before any native mode CFW comes out, but since you’ve probably already got a PSP there’s not much reason to use ARK on the Vita instead of just using the PSP.

While an iso would definitely work, for kicks, I downloaded the game to my PS3 after getting it on my 3.36 vita, connected my 6.xx CFW PSP via usb, and the game copied over just fine.
Also played a game of pool vs myself… and I won/lost if you can believe it!
Connecting my 6.xx CFW PSP to my PS3 worked for me too.
