Dark-Alex is back, working on a PS4 Jailbreak
Update: alright people, this was, of course, an April Fool’s joke! There were several hints in the article, the most obvious one being that some bold letters in the article spelled the word “April Fools”. For those who didn’t know, the picture below was actually taken from one of Dark Alex’s statement on how to hack the ta88v3 PSP model, which was the “unhackable” hardware back in the days. Dark Alex is *not* back and is *not* working on the PS4 as far as we know. Hey fellas, I just got great news from alek, Dark-Alex’s webmaster: Dark-Alex has been secretly working on a PS4 jailbreak since the device was released last year, and he has been successful so far.
By leveraging the webkit vulnerability and finding an exploit that got him root privilege, Dark-Alex was able to run some minimal code to confirm he has access to the full functionality of the console.
The good news is, the exploit work on the latest PS4 2.50 PS4 firmware, and DA has a second webkit vulnerability for people above 1.76.
The graph below shows the basic behavior of the hack, on two versions of the PS4’s motherboard:
Now, before you jump out of joy, there’s lots of work before this turns into a full fledged CFW. But I wouldn’t be surprised if that release could happen exactly one year from now.

Every year we do an april fools joke and every year someone falls for it. I remember wololo once made a post saying he was leaving the scene where the first letter of each paragraph spelled out FOOLS, and last year we intentuonally added me to the group of banned users making it looked like I was banned.
Is my eyes tricking me or those letters are too bold to be true 😉

I’d say the tag alone is maybe not enough. I had almost decided to buy a PS4 for this when I read the comments mentioning the date.
