Total-Noob’s response to latest TN-X debate about The Z
As you might remember, TN-X was released last week. From what it seems, Total-Noob doesn’t want The Zett to use TN-X.
Today, a thread titled evil function was created which included some reverse of TN-X. Code seems to wipe out the memory card (the parts where PS1 emu has access to) when certain conditions are met.
The Zett says he got red screen and the PS1 Emu froze in the first version of TN-X.
I contacted Total-Noob and this is what he says:
My files has got two checks
The first check will not harm, only give a red screen
The second check happens if the first check is somehow disabled
So it formats the ms
So it was The Zett’s responsibility to use a modified one or not
The untouched one does not format anything, only give a red screen
Even Dark_AleX did this
Back then when you modified the files it bricked your device
He also says it is only The Zett who is blacklisted.

TN didn’t want Z using his works, but Z insist on using it by modify TN’s works. Basically Z is a shameless person.

No. The moral of the story is TN has no morales and would deliberately insert malicious code into a product released to 100’s (likely 1000’s) of people because of a petty squabble.
It’s all well and good to advocate TN’s actions when they don’t affect you but if one of the already numerous bugs in TN-X executes the code on your device I doubt you’ll be so accepting. This malicious code is relatively untested and the first stages are executed every time you run TN-X. Pray one of the numerous freak bugs that are present doesn’t trigger it on your device.

True that. It’s pretty childish to insert malicious code just to keep somebody out…. But into software that 1000s use? Man, TN is a *** for that. Any bug in the code could easily execute the command to wipe all your data.
Watch TN post about how unlikely it is for it to wipe all your data, and that The Zett deserved it.

The Z really contributes nothing to the scene but criticizing and moaning and promoting stuff that he had no part in the hard work for.
As a programmer myself, all respect goes to TN for actually creating the content that the community gets to benefit from.

As a programmer myself, I see value in people like The Z who relentlessly promote the work of programmers, host it for free on their servers, etc… You’ll probably learn the value of that along the way, although I see the same type of comments from programmers in their mid thirties. It seems the “light” comes to programmers around their early forties, that they are not the sole contributors to their software’s success.
TN has done some great work and he deserves credit for that. If you ask him personally he can confirm that I never forget to thank him for his work. But he’s also done some pretty bad stuff, and this includes this. In particular to your comment, TN has not created 100% of the stuff he puts in his custom firmware, and he’s not the best when it comes to giving proper credit. So if you blame that type of thing on the Z, fair enough, but the exact same can be said about TN
I agree. However the promotion should be done on a different twitter account where we don’t have to see those side comments.
I believe Rasputin did something like this, so we didn’t have to see his Political views (Which are actually enjoyable lol.
The scene used to be about contributing and sharing great ideas. Not flaming and malicious code. Maybe someday.
By no means is TN a god. But his work deserves some appreciation.
My main account is still where i post a lot of stuff, political, console news and even make people ***.
My other accounts just auto tweet when i post something on one of my blogs, but back before i had any sites of my own, everything was posted on my main account.
TN’s work is appreciated, but what he did has no excuse.
Just for curiosity, I’d like to know who else’s work is in TN’s eCFW.
For starters, anything TN has done is rehash of stuff that DAX, davee and others have done before, heck his first TN-HEN on 6.20 was mostly davee’s work. The kernel exploits are not his (actually I think only ONE public kxploit has been his) and let’s not forget full PSX sound would still be his dream and not a reality had it not been for qwik and I finding AND proving the existance of PSX exploits, before that TN himself said that the PSX emulator was native and not inside the PSP emulator, crapping on everything ColdBird had said about PSX emulator, it turned out CB was the one right, not TN.
90% of the scene right now is work others have done that TN has simply put together into one package, yet no credits ever come out of his mouth.

I personally look at all of TNs work and coding and most of i can find any many other work. I find coding copied from m33 directly in some of the older TN firmwares. like acid said. he just recycles old coding and borrows coding from others.

you do realise he has had help with most of his “creations” So what about the credit for all the other people who contributed to it? I actually respect Z a bit more tbh because TN does alot of immature things such as this. Explaining why a lot of progress isnt being made in this area of the scene.

I don’t really care about what’s going on between them, or the morals involved in this, I just find “intriguing” how someone can excuse himself to his public in some degree by mentioning names of people who did worse stuff on the past.
first of all wen alex did this is was not for this reason, back then you had people trying to rehash firmwares as their own and even sell them, so it was a safety precaution.Any real half-decent programmer in the scene could fix it. But m33 being the best psp firmwares of the time, people were trying to steal the coding and reuse it for the wrong reasons.
Honestly Zett needs to learn to stop running his mouth.

Yes, the Zett is a troll, I think no one’s denying that, even himself. But going as far as putting some malicious code (which could have bugs!!!) in a tool used by thousands of people, just to get revenge on one guy… talk about “over the top” action here.
I find it truly repulsive any dev would do something line that, I say that as a dev too. He is old enough to die figthing in an army, he’s no child.

Well, IMHO, I guess that your work is your work, and your petty personal vendetta should be out of it. If you work developing software and hate your boss, it doesn’t justify to put a time bomb on the company software.

Both Zett and TN should be ashamed of themselves for letting this petty squabble progress so far. This is little more than a childish hissyfit. Zett should learn from this that there are consequences for what you say on the internet and that the person you are voicing your opinions about are real people with their own wants, needs and agendas, which will often conflict or at least disagree with your own. TN should learn that people will always be *** on the internet for no real reason and to respond with anything other than total indifference only leads to these sorts of situations where you both lose. You should both apologise to each other and put it behind you. This whole situation has done nothing but hurt both of your reputations, but simple sincere apologies will go a long way to mending that and setting good examples for the communities you both belong to.
I completely agree with you. One thing is to prevent The Z from using your work by showing a red screen, I can definitely agree with that and would have no problem, but deleting his stuff on purpose (and putting users at risk if there’s a bug somewhere) is just pushing it too far, for a 19 year-old guy like TN this is 5 year-old behaviour. As it stands right now, TN is no different from the Gateway 3DS flashcart bricking consoles on purpose.

First of all, reverse engineering is not illegal in all countries, secondly The Z didn’t reverse engineer anything, he used software that was advertized as doing something and ended up doing something completely different, this software in question potentially destroys data that The Z PAID for (legit PSP/PSX games), so yes he could sue TN and probably even win.
Like I said, TN behaved like a 5 year-old here and didn’t even think of any possible consequences.

I can’t understand people defending TN here. There’s a lot of other things TN has done that deserve praise and such, but this is not one of them. It doesn’t matter how much you like the guy, he released what is essentially a virus that could malfunction and potentially affect other users, not to mention he purposely destroyed another person’s properties.
There is absolutely no defense here, there simply isn’t.
Not to mention this *** is what has driven EVERY developer interested in the Vita away: Brian Balling, Josh Axey, hykem, for the most part yifanlu, and a bunch of others.
Have self-respect for yourself and demand that this s-h-i-t doesn’t happen again, the least thing we want is for the Vita scene to become the 3DS scene where hacks only replace Sony’s DRM with another form of DRM.

The bug is meant for 1 person in particular. It will not effect other users. The Dev who made this knows how to use the code in order for this function not to happen to other users. For example i am using a usa ip address but i am nowhere near the usa but i feel the need to not leave any footprints.
Its a choice the dev can make and that is that.
You must not understand code or understand that code can have bugs, this act against TheZ could have affected many people.

Well this seems to be a personal matter.I don’t think any of us(besides TN & Z) should be commenting since we are not them won’t understand what sort of spark the been through. I have allot I could say about TN and The_Zett. Sure what TN has done is VERY over the top, but at the same time how much abuse could you take without retaliation? It was clear from the colorful language TN used towards The_Zett on Hackinformer, he considers him a bitter enemy. I don’t distespect cooks at a resturant for fear of spit. The_Z should have considered this. At the same time however spitting is never morale. Enemys tend to throw morality out the window however. I try to show respect reguardless and I DO respect both TN, and The_Zett. So please don’t take this as a smear campaign, because I’m not taking sides. I watch The_Z’s videos and use TN’s works.
