Do you want to test the PS4 firmware 2.50 right now? – SKFU can grant you this wish!
Important note: Some people on external sites are saying this could brick your PS4, or that this could install some sort of “backdoor” on your PS4: those statements are false and based on nothing. The technique below does not install anything harmful on your PS4, it points the console to the official (but hidden) PS4 2.50 file, hosted on Sony’s servers. This is the exact same file that Sony is sending to their beta testers.
Sony has published an official changelog of the upcoming PS4 firmware 2.50, which will be released in near future.
Some users are already running the beta (preview) firmware of version 2.50, which is only available to the MVP members of Sony, or is it?
Developer SKFU has published a method which allows any person to install the beta firmware 2.50 onto their PS4, as long as they are going to follow SKFU’s tutorial. This basically consists in finding the PUP file and tricking the PS4 into downloading it through SKFU pr0xy.
Keep in mind that a beta firmware is prone to have flaws, and that you are unable to downgrade your PS4 back to the most recent (public) firmware, which is 2.04.
It is also worth to mention that the Remote Play feature, the one that lets you use the PS4 screen on your PS Vita (TV), requires the PS Vita to run a firmware that has not been released yet (a firmware higher than 3.36).
This pretty much makes it impossible to use this feature, until Sony publishes the public PS4 FW 2.50 and a new PS Vita firmware alongside it.
From SKFU:
- Get any SKFU’s Pr0xy server (wololo.net)
- Start & setup the Proxy Server on your PlayStation4
- Redirect “http://feu01.ps4.update.playstation.net/update/ps4/list/eu/ps4-updatelist.xml” to “http://zload.net/ps4/beta/ps4-updatelist.xml”
- In case your from another region, change “/eu/” to your regioncode!
- Search for an update on your PS4
- Download, install and enjoy 2.50 Beta 🙂
- In case this does not work, try the installation via safemode “Update using Internet”. If you have setup the proxy already, it also works in safemode.

1st?
u jumped the queue!
You are funny Z hehe
Not working with us region.
“The update file cannot be used with the PS$. (SU-35941-2)” Sadly this is correct.
Change “feu” and “/eu/” into “fus” and /us/”.
still not working… just throws out errors on US console.
but http://zload.net/ps4/beta/ps4-updatelist.xml shows for the EU region, don’t we need a different one for the US region? doesn’t work for US here either
For some reason, I’m in the UK region (even though I live in the Netherlands). It doesn’t work for me either. I get an SU-30697-5 error, even in safe mode. I tried to cook up my own XML file, but that didn’t work either; it gave me an SU-35941-2 error, which I assume must mean something like “invalid XML”. Am I right in assuming the file is actually the same for all regions, meaning the file size cannot be the problem?
I somehow got it to show up in my downloads. I put the update on my flash drive and attempted to do it in safe mode but got an error. When I rebooted my PS4 the update appeared in my downloads and installed. Anyone in the US who wants the beta, try this method. I got it to install.
SO it under notifications after?
for me it was. my ps4 rebooted and i got an alert that 2.50 beta was downloading.
@asdf or you could just reboot your ps4, it worked for me 🙂
with the way sony has been handing out ban;s for random stuff lately… im a little weary of this. still neat trick tho!
I got the SU-35941-2 error code with a EU PS4. Same with recovery menu…
Here’s what I did. (US) Start up the proxy program but not the server yet.
Use this as the source
http://fus01.ps4.update.playstation.net/update/ps4/list/us/ps4-updatelist.xml
And this as the target
http://fus01.ps4.update.playstation.net/update/ps4/beta/list/us/ps4-updatelist.xml
Run the server, and on the PS4 set it to the proxy’s server.
Turn off PS4, and reboot into safe mode
(download the beta update and have it in your thumb drive)
Once in safe mode, update via thumb drive giving you an error when done.
Restart the console through safe mode (don’t remove thumb drive) and it’ll start downloading on the console.

UK:
Try this. This works in the US and might in the UK. I changed the us codes to uk so just copy and paste.
Start up the proxy program but not the server yet. Use this as the source http://fuk01.ps4.update.playstation.net/update/ps4/list/uk/ps4-updatelist.xml And this as the target http://fuk01.ps4.update.playstation.net/update/ps4/beta/list/uk/ps4-updatelist.xml Run the server, and on the PS4 set it to the proxy’s server. Turn off PS4, and reboot into safe mode (download the beta update and have it in your thumb drive) Once in safe mode, update via thumb drive giving you an error when done. Restart the console through safe mode (don’t remove thumb drive) Credits to flyingcloud11 for in-depth instructions.
This worked for me but if you… set up your proxy i.p on the console.
and then turn the console off, follow the above steps in the http(s) rules menu and then start the proxy.
it should automatically download huzza
^ 😀
reddit
try this for US, its the direct link for the pup
here
Finnd something interesting,..? I’d love to have someone show it in English
Anyone from EU got it working ? I checked the reddit link and only US gamer managed to install it.
Am I the only one that read this properly?
“The technique below does not install anything harmless on your PS4”
Don’t you mean it will not install anything that is HARMFUL not install anything that is HARMLESS? As we want it to be harmless.
This worked for me with Charles Proxy :
1.Once you setup Proxy Server go to Charles Proxy
2.You will see a tab http://f**01.ps4.update.playstation.net ( “**” will be your region code )
3. Now go to this link in your browser http://f**01.ps4.update.playstation.net/update/ps4/beta/list/uk/ps4-updatelist.xml (Replace ‘**” with your region id)
4. Save the xml file from your browser to your computer.
5. Now in Charles Proxy go to http://f**01.ps4.update.playstation.net > update > ps4 > list and right click ps4-update.xml then Map Local > Choose the xml file you downloaded and click ok.
6.Boot your PS4 in Safe Mode go to Update > Update via Internet > Choose Agree to Download. Once it says Downloading, after 4-5 seconds cancel the update and restart your PS4
7. A notification will say update added to Downloads
Hope it helps 😀
I got 2.50 beta firmware to install for US after I edited the xml for the US region, and then uploaded it to my own server. The link is here – http://test123.x10host.com/ps4-updatelist.xml
Just put that in SKFU Proxy if you’re in the US region. You should get a notice pretty shortly after writing the redirect that it’s downloading. After it’s done downloading it should install just fine. Note, it doesn’t seem to work from the System Update menu at least for me.
Hmm, actually it seems to be stuck on 0% loading so maybe I spoke to soon. I’m gonna try a reboot and a few other things to see if I can get this working.
Ok got it this time. This should work for US region users. Have the SKFU proxy setup on your PS4, and use the redirect with this link – http://test123.x10host.com/ps4-updatelist.xml
Then, boot into safe mode. Choose System Update, and Update from Internet. This worked for me at least.
Lol, forget what I said it’s still on 2.04. Yea, this doesn’t work for US for some reason.
I did one for the UK one and it worked. thanks for the hosting site 😉
http://maxspot.x10host.com/cgi-bin/ps4-updatelist.xml
Good news, i got it working with SKFU’s xml file following the tutorial on reddit.
Thanks SKFU and wololo.net for this little “exploit”. 🙂
got it working now.

Run the server, and on the PS4 set it to the proxy’s server.
check for software update and you will get an error saying it cant be used on the ps4.
restart the system and the update will then pop up in ur downloads
WORKS FOR USA
I can confirm this. I know I’m not known in the community but it does.
After I tried to update through the settings I shut the PS4 completely down, when I turned it back on it started downloading automatically.
I can confirm this too. Followed the said steps, and the update appeared in my downloads upon PS4 restart.
Is there any downside to this?
I guess I stay on the release channel once I don’t use the proxy anymore? – Just curious if it will update to the non-beta 2.5 once its released.
One important downside is that Remote Play with the Vita is not possible until an (as of yet unreleased) Vita firmware update is installed.
I managed to it!(I’m in Europe)
It’s great if u guys wanna try a BETA!Specially considering you can try the Suspend/Resume function, why is REALLY useful. However,if you can’t handle some glitches when browsing the UI(Like missing pictures, glitchy loads…) dont try it!!!!
Why not downloading directly the pup on PC then update PS4 through USB ?
I’ve tried every method, every variation posted for target and source posted here, and on Reddit, and I cannot get this to work in the U.S., at least not all the way.
The beta update downloads, then goes to “⚠️ Cannot Install” when the download finishes. Tried normally, and in Safe Mode.

For anyone having trouble with SKFU’s Pr0xy server (like I did) try using PSXDownloadHelper instead, that worked for me (In the US) using this .xml:
here
For US PS4
Use this as the source

make up your mind
From the UK and got it to work with Charles Proxy.
Redirect to
Host: fuk01.ps4.update.playstation.net
Path: /update/ps4/beta/list/uk/ps4-updatelist.xml
You will get errors in safe mode but then after I logged in, then held the PS button and signed out. After signing out the update started. Took me half an hour of faffing around before it started.
