“PS4 Jailbreak” mysterious dongle surfaces. Is it for real? [update:confirmed to be fake]

Interestingly, just one day after we wrote about the latest news about PS4 Jailbreak (or more precisely, how nothing is publicly available – or even announced – yet), a random post surfaced on our forums, with the following cryptic information:

Cryptic, semi-random post by a user who just registered on the forums… this could be legit, but most likely experience tells us it isn’t.

Now, let’s have a look at the picture in question:

The picture actually looks as legit as can be. This looks like some sort of USB dongle, but what’s peculiar is that this picture yields absolutely no result on google. If this is a hoax, it’s elaborate enough: whoever did this didn’t just take a random picture on the internet, but actually went through the pain of uploading original content for that… (but I’ve done that too, remember when I hacked my PS3 with a ham&cheese sandwich?)

With that being said, GaryOPA (who’s indirectly involved with many of the dongle manufacturers on the PS3), specifically named in this post, told me personally he had no knowledge of this, or of any of the people he knows from the typical “dongle” manufacturers who would be working on such a thing.

This makes it likely to be an elaborate hoax then. But the question remains, of what this device actually is. Any ideas?

Update: well that was fast. Thanks to everyone who have looked for this, this turns out to be a USB key and has nothing to do with a jailbreak at all. The original picture can be found on this artsy website.
