      ban’ ^^

      • NakedFaerie says:

WHY do MORONS always post “first”??? All that does is make them look REALLY stupid and childlike. They deserve a ban.
Dont ban their user ban their IP. They deserve it.
But we’ve been saying this for years and you still get idiots posting “first” posts. I guess they will keep doing it until the admins do something about it.

Wololo, Make me a “first” admin so I can ban them. 🙂 Thats all the power I want to ban anyone who posts “first” posts.

        BAN :-W

  2. I wouldn’t call this native, yes it uses the Wii U’s exploited browser, but the Homebrew isn’t actually on the Wii U.

    • Hykem says:

It won’t take much more time before this becomes native, but yes, right now this is just taking advantage of the WebKit exploit (just like VitaPong).
Since we’ve finally exploited the kernel successfully, expect to see a native version of this quite soon.

    • Relys says:

All code is being ran directly on the Wii U inside the browser process. This is different than VitaPong.

    • Marionumber1 says:

By your logic, comex must have never really hacked the Wii U, since he did it all through the browser. This is all C code: the webpage is nothing more than a trigger for the exploit.

      • Reading comprehension fail ?
I did not state the exploit is not native, i stated that if a game is not on the device, then the game is not native.
No where did i say that using a browser does not hack something, no where did i say that this is not, was not an exploit.
But it stands to reason, even for the dumbest ***, if the f*cking game is not stored on the damn console, then the damn game is not a native game >.<
Try learning how to read or at least try to learn how to understand what someone says.

        • Saying that, from what Relys has posted, the game is stored, at least temporarily on the Wii U

        • Marionumber1 says:

Your definition of native was both unclear and ridiculous. Most people would consider native to mean running in Wii U mode, and what you said was sufficiently vague to give me no reason to think you believed otherwise. Never did I see a mention of the game being stored on the console, until your last comment. Try learning how to explain what you mean, or at least don’t act like an *** when someone misinterprets your vague comments.

And nice job implying the author of the browser exploit and kernel exploit is dumber than the “dumbest ***”.

From what i understand, this isn’t native, or native just as VitaPong. It depens on how you look at it. But the good news is, it will be native (native like totally running on the console) in a few days. Thanks for the clarification Hykem.

    • Relys says:

This is running entirely on the console inside of the browser process (e.x. if I unplugged my router it would continue to function). This is different than VitaPong which relies on a PC host to actually run the game code.

I have a couple of Wii Us. One is for my daughter, and the other is for my wife and I. They haven’t been removed from the box yet and hooked up, so I don’t know what FW they’re on, but they were the Deluxe Editions bought on Black Friday in 2013. I didn’t take them out of the box yet cause I need to get a couple of Skinomi screen protectors first. Also a full body skin for my daughter’s Wii U maybe. I’m sure the FW is good for this due to it’s age and never having been updated. But until the native hacking takes off (which I expect to be pretty soon, and really cool when it peaks) I’m more interested in the eCFW available for it, from the Wii emulator being built in. I didn’t really like the Wii much though. It was the control/controller that I mostly didn’t like. The Wii had some amazing titles though, among the tons of shovelware. But the Wii U was done up proper imo, based off what I read and know about it. It is sorely lacking in 3rd party support however, sadly due to poor sales. I think that’s likely due to a lot of people’s opinion of the Wii, it not having the power of the PS4 or XBO, poor marketing (I just saw my first Wii U commercial the other day), and many people I think probably just don’t get it. Hopefully things turn around for it. Either way, and also for what I paid for the deluxe edition, I’m very happy to own the Wii U, and I gotta make a point to order those screen protectors soon.

  5. Relys says:

Well, I would say this is a bit different than VitaPong. It looks like VitaPong is restricted to ROP on the vita and the actual game engine is running in javascript on the PC host.

What we do on Wii U is use the JIT area to bypass DEP. I then clean up the web browser process that is running and completely overtake it. Sure, I’m still restricted to the permissions that the web browser inherits (no sd card access, only ROP on other two cores). But, I do have access to all of the Wii U libraries and pretty much anything else a normal process can do. So, I would argue that this is in the same category as Ninjhax on 3DS since I am getting true unsigned execution within the sandbox.

I would like to see something like a priiloader for the wii u.

    • Relys says:

We’d need to pwn the bootloader for that. boot0 has been dumped, but boot1 is still a mystery. 🙁

  7. Quade321 says:

Really is a shame the homebrew scene is so lacking on the Wii U. Cool someone finally did something with it. Now the only problem, I don’t have a Wii U and I doubt I can find one on firmware 5.2. xD But oh well, it’s enough to know that something is happening.

  8. NakedFaerie says:

This is a great step in the right direction. NintenDOH aren’t doing much with the WiiU and it sounds like they will be replacing it shortly so all thats left is a backup launcher and full homebrew with kernel access.
I dont see any game companies making games for it except for NintenDOH themselves so its a dead console as NintenDOH only make *** games.

  9. Wii Emulator says:

It is truly a great and useful piece of information.
