3DS Firmware 9.5.0-23 released, possibly blocks exploits
The latest 3DS firmware was apparently released a few hours ago, and it is likely patching some of the recent hacks.
Official release notes are of course never precise when it comes to this kind of thing, and this update is no exception, stating this is a “system stability” release and that it brings “user experience enhancements”.
Smealum, of ninjhax fame, mentions this update patches the web browser specifically, and could be used to block the exploit used for regionthree (a hack that removes region locking on the 3DS).
looks like 9.5.0-23 is live ! patches web browser. not sure if it blocks the exploit used for regionthree yet but seems likely. DONT UPDATE!

This firmware might also be blocking the use of flashcarts such as Gateway 3DS or sky3ds, although that still needs to be verified and confirmed.
As always, you probably don’t want to update if you’re running any of these hacks, until things have been confirmed.
Sky 3ds can not be patched unless Nintendo either releases new hardware that blocks it or adds a update to the check system for game cards.
hopefully this also doesnt patch the pokemon qr code exploit… but still wont update just incase x,x

Anything using spiderhax is blocked. This includes VC rom injection, regionthree, etc. (If it /currently/ relies on launching the browser to execute, it’s fixed)

There was an exploit on the 3ds that allowed people to get hacked pokemon with a QR code.

This 3DS FW Update blocks the browser exploit:
Aka. “RegionThree”, “Pokemon QR Codes” and other Pokemon hacking stuff (RAM2Sav, PCedit, and so on).
Basically all the fun stuff.
In other news: They have yet to fix CubicNinja’s stage 1 exploit so that still works. For now, anyway. But in the mean time, it’s an open entry point into the 3DS.
