RetroArch PSP – Update V1.0.0.3 Beta 2
Last time we spoke of RetroArch was when the first beta of version 1.0.0.3 had been released. Although we are a little late on this, we’d like to announce an update that fixes some of the issues that were faced in the previous version. If you don’t know what retroarch is, then I’m sorry to say but you’ve been living under a rock. RetroArch is an open source, multi-platform frontend designed to be a fast, lightweight, and portable multi-system emulator. It has been making its way onto PSP very recently, while supporting a plethora of other devices such as Windows, OS X, Linux, Android, iOS, BlackBerry 10, Raspberry Pi, OpenPandora, PlayStation 3, Xbox, Xbox 360, GameCube, and Nintendo Wii.
Users, this is where we need you! The developers have stated that if these updates are proven to be stable enough they will consider adding more cores. Feedback or bug reports are highly welcomed! Feel free to let them know on their forums here, or drop a comment below, and I’m sure one of those eagle eyed lurkers will report after testing it themselves.
The new update has resolved the following issues.
– tempGBA now correctly saves sram to the correct folder (.sav extension)
– fixed an issue with tempGBA when loading compressed archives.
– pce-fast: fixed most graphical glitches and improved speed a lot. most CD-rom games now run close to fullspeed.
PSP 1000’s are told to use this version.
PSP 2000’s and newer (Slims) are told to use this version.
If you think you have what it takes to give the developers a little hand, make sure you do contact them on their forums. The source code for each system can be found here, in their master branch. Happy Emulating! 🙂
Lol PSP-2000 and older? that would be a 1000 I would just say slim models like the zip states. But ya there are newer models than a 2000 called a PSP-3000 LMAO!
Lol opps 😛
*PSP 2000’s and newer
I’m eternally grateful for the dev making it so GO’s can see both MS0 and EF0 at the same time, my charger port is broken and doesn’t transfer data so I’m stuck ferrying things around on a memory card 🙁
Give bubble exploit already aholes
Hahaha be patient bro. Dont worry it’ll be worth the wait…haha
I hope it’s never released because of rude people like you.
Patience is a virtue, and being rude just *** people off unnecessarily
Has anyone gotten it to run on the Vita yet?
And by that I mean eCFW and not native.
I’ve tried but it gives me black screen of death..then i need to fully shutdown my ps vita….tsk do i need to put the. Prx on the seplugins of the retroarch?
I’ve tried putting the kernel_functions.prx to seplugins and put the codes to games.txt still gives me black screen…i guess this onky works for real psp haha not tnv vita
Sorry the main PSP developer of Retroarch doesn’t own a vita. He has stated that this problem cannot be solved unless someone with some programming knowledge about the vita (and owns one) can help him debug it.
Tnx….I’ve never known about that hahha….to bad for vitas….
What systems can RetroArch emulate? Would it emulate GBA games any better (e.g. compatibility) than GPSP Kai?
As I stated in the previous article. It consists of the following cores.
– gambatte
– tempGBA
– fceumm
– fmsx
– beetle-pce-fast
– nxengine
– prboom
Hang on… Are you the Joel16 that used to work on that Lamecraft mod with Woolio?
Yes I am 🙂
brothers this is it …i cant take this anymore . they said there are other exploits apart from bubbles but still no sign of release.they are just shoving that they have something with them.there is no point in following this website anymore
Would you like some cheese with that whine?
lol, we desperately need an up vote system.
***, Joel16 is so right!
I apologize for the derail here, but the problem is with your unrealistic expectations. Exploring the firmware and finding useful code to exploit is not an absolute thing that can be given an exact time frame. Have you bothered to read the provided articles on the subject, and seen the convoluted framework they have to work with to produce the results they’ve achieved? Not to mention that this work is being done in their free time and at no cost to you. Patience, learn it.
