What are those VHBL/TN-V bubble thingies on Vita firmware 3.35???
So, you might have seen a few people on twitter, teasing you with a VHBL or a PSP XMB (understand: TN-V) bubble, running directly from the Vita live area. Yeah, I’m talking about you, The Z 🙂
So, tricking the Vita into somehow installing VHBL or TN-V is now a thing. There’s more: it apparently doesn’t require to buy any game. This was already discussed a few weeks ago here, but Qwikrazor explained that the method used here is novel.
Wow, let me fast rewind here. A PSP exploit, that doesn’t require a game purchase, and that runs on Firmware 3.35? This sounds like a pretty big deal! Check the video below from The Z to see for yourself.

I know some people think we’re “past” the psp emulator hacks, and that it’s high time the scene moved to native hacks (which, as you know, is also a thing), but, forgive me if I say that this looks pretty awesome, and gets me excited.

Several members of the Vita/ePSP scene are in possession of this trick/hack, which was apparently devised by Qwikrazor87. They are all pretty secretive about the whole thing, and there is no mention of a release at this point. Which I understand. This looks like it could lead to even more exciting things than “only” VHBL or TN-V, and it also looks like a “once in a console’s lifetime” bug that Sony would instantly patch.
The rumors say that this is related to signing some PSP packages, and somehow tricking the Vita into installing some code that contains a PSP exploit, leading to running VHBL/TN-V. Sounds pretty awesome, but I must admit I am surprised that this does not seem to require any purchase.
As the Z and Qwikrazor told me, there is no plan for a release of this thing at this point, but it shows that the scene still has some tricks up its sleeve.

You actually do need to buy/have an exploit game in the first place, but after that you won’t need to use the exploit game again. Any of the leaked exploits will do on 3.35, as long as you bypass Sony’s new *** for 3.30+, ioopen/createthread patches.

Except for Zettai Hero Project and Go! Sudoku, since those were patched in firmwares 3.30 and 3.35, respectively.

Seriously man, who’s *** do I need to suck to get a VHBL bubble on my vita? I’ll do anything if it means being able to continue Mother 3 & emulation in general on my vita again. Obviously except paying $200 for another Vita that’s under 3.35.

I love hearing things like this because the simple trick could be the biggest exploit later- this has high potential as a bootable CFW loader with the ability to stay on current firmwares.

so tn-v bubble works on only 3.18 but vhbl bubble also works on 3.xx+.If this is a psp exploit how could it turn into a native cfw loader.but then again anything is possible gonna wait n see if it’s get released
Because 3.18 kernel exploit is already patched. Unlike VHBL which is usermode only, kernel exploit start at user mode then jump to kernel mode, once kernel vulnerability is patched there’s no way around that.

Oh man, posting it here might not be such a good idea.
I mean sony is looking here frequently and by now they already have sniffed out the console ID’s of this hacking scene, they had more than enough time to do it.
So if any of this data (launch info + date stamp, crash info, memory manipulation info,…) flies onto the sony server, it will be investigated and well I guess fw 3.36 or 3.38 will patch it out.
And such a bug/exploit like this will definitely draw their attention to it.
The people who have access to this exploit aren’t stupid, I’d be willing to bet they’re running this on vita’s that they keep off the network, it’s been known for a long while that crashes and such produce logs, which Sony could potentially get their hands on. I doubt anyone would risk running this on a vita which they plan to take off airplane mode before it gets released.

Example: mobile phones in airplane mode are trackable, heck they are trackable even when shut off. Only cure is to remove the battery.
The modern scenes are so lame. I’m sure I’m not the only one sick of the whole “Look what I can do but you never will because I won’t tell you how it’s done” attitude that’s been plaguing the various scenes for years. Either share or keep it to yourself. Don’t be the kid on the playground that won’t share his toys
It’s less about the scene, than the fact that sharing something today means it is automatically patched. Sony did not have that level of control on the PSP, or earlier consoles. So obviously the way people communicate about their hacks has changed!

It would be a waste to release it now so soon after the previous kernel mode exploit, and only a couple of firmware revisions later.
Hopefully it will be released eventually though.

VHBL on FW 3.35, PSP XMB on FW 3.18? Those would make excellent Christmas Presents for my Vitas. But on a serious note. After you install PSP XMB onto your Vita, you can delete the exploit game or do you need to keep it there in order for XMB to run?

I read a lot about this yesterday on elotrolado, but i dont have the vita at this moment..
I know it’ll be a while before this goes public (like, when Sony finally kills the Vita) but damn, it’s impressive! I do wish I was in the circle of people that could do this, but oh well 😛
