How to: Run all PS3 games on a PS3 with a non working Bluray drive (by karimbol)

If you have a PS3 running a CFW, you probably know that in order to play some games from your internal HDD you must have a game in the disk drive otherwise the game will not launch.
Through this tutorial, you will learn how to run all ps3 backup games without having a game in the disc drive. This should help people who have a broken ps3 bluray drive.
For this tutorial, your game must be already copied to your internal HDD, and you must have a USB device connected (external hard disk or USB key used to create a fake bluray).
This tutorial is tested and confirmed working on cfw 4.46 Rogero.
- Download IRIS MANAGER : https://www.mediafire.com/?gsyde859lk7d6xx
- Install Iris Manager to your PS3 by putting it on a USB and then install it using the “install pkg files” in the games tab in the XMB.
- Launch Iris Manager.
- Press “start”, then click “Tools”, click on “Without BDVD Controller” to move it to “Disc-less payload”.
- You will be returned automatically to XMB.
- Launch Iris Manager again then on the icon of the game press “select”, choose “Mount BDVD” for BDEMU and “On” for ext/dev_hdd0/game.
- “Save”
- Launch the game.
- You will be returned to the XMB and you will have 2 bluray of your game, one called “GAME” and the second called “the name of your game,” launch the second.
- The game should launch normally now (if your game still does not work, try putting ext/dev_hdd0/game “OFF”).
Attention :
- Make sure to not emulate games with Multiman before, otherwise there will be a conflict!
- Never remove the last emulated games.
For CFW 4.50 Rogero : you can install the newer version of Iris Manager which recognizes the external hard drive and is able to directly launch games. Operating the tutorial is still the same except that you can now put your backup externally. Here is the link : https://www.mediafire.com/?8s4dacb8mbzkhls
I hope this helped, enjoy.
great! rogero? how about other cfw … please confirm… thanks
I had great experiences with Rogero 4.46 Cobra. (i guess the non Cobra one is just as good)
But i moved on to DARKNET 4.65 Cobra to be able to connect my Vita to my PS3 and there’s also various other 4.65 CFWs (cobra or non Cobra).
But for the best compatiobility/functionality i thin Rogero 4.46 is awesome!
I really recomment at least to look into Cobra CFWs, i really love to mount Backups directly from XMB using webMAN. Its just faster and more comfortable than starting Multiman, mounting the game, going back to XMB….
This works with rebug 4.78.2 rdex just tired it and it works great. Thank you so much for this I been trying to mod GTA 5 for the longest and just because my drive was not reading I couldn’t do it but now I can thank you .
so how to install ps3 cfw then …
hmm
tnv psp for ps3 cfw then ?
for witch game ?
Its like this whole ordeal and chances are you dont have the right model or firmware PS3 anyway. I sure dont.
To install a PS3 CFW, you need to be on OFW 3.55!
Since you’re most likely on a higher OFW, you need a Hardware flasher (arround 50-60 bucks) to downgrade.
Also need to have a compatible PS3, Super Slims and some later Slims are not compatible.
i had natural cfw once … works like ***
means below 3.55 just install 3.55 kmeaw
but still long way from hacked
just a backup manager
i then proxy tricked updated to ofw store patched
in other news
could somebody from the pseudo.tv plugin for xbmx
develop a pseudotv plugin of channels playing
for the media imported in plex.tv
or in short pseudotv plugin for plex.tv mediaserver and dlna ?
hidden advertisement of plex.tv
Nice Dood!
too old instruction.everyone from ps3 users knows this already 2 years
when I download the PKG file and put it on a flash drive, and plug it into my PS3, I get the USB extension on pictures and videos, but not under GAME. So I can’t launch it. Whassap with that?
I would say this is a bit outdated.
The tutorials are just adding more confusion then actually helping people.
Also the better approach for some with a broken BD drive or Logic board would be one of the noBD CFW’s
The offer for you to become a blogger here and push more up to date tutorials out there still stands 🙂
Thanks, Very busy at various other places right now. even more so then when we last spoke. Now I am basically the only guys at two of the sites writing news and then i started my own site with a few friends psx-place.com so I am extremely busy in that regard.. but could change in weeks, months …. So hopefully that offer stands for awhile 🙂
