So yea the PSNow app is up (at least in NA) for Vita and Vita TV

 

For those unaware of PSNow it is a game streaming service where you rent a game for a set amount of time and can then stream it to any PSNow certified device, Which as of this post is PS3/PS4/Vita. SCE has plans of enabling it for some phones and TV’s as well.

Now thats cool and all but there is one glaring problem that SCE seems to ignore, The pricing. See as of right now you can rent a game (Killzone 3 for this example) for $2.99 for 4 hours , I don’t know if it’s 4 hours from purchase or of game time but yea that sucks.

Update: I can now confirm that yes the timer does indeed keep going once you start the game for the first time, I played Killzone 3 up till the part where you need to run from Visari’s palace (after the intro walking around bit) and stopped to play me some Minecraft, a few hours later and the game says it’s expired. Thats a big no no SCE :/ [Sarcastic Note from Wololo: Were you also expecting the 90 days offer to be 2160 hours of gameplay? That’s basically 4 years of video game time for me!]

The other renting options are 7 Days for $5.99, 30 Days for $7.99 and 90 Days for $14.99.

These prices might not sound bad to some but it seems outrageous to me, I could buy Killzone 3 for the price of the 90 day rent. PSNow really should be a subscription based program either included with PS+ or as a standalone sub with maybe an add-on option to PS+ so it costs less if you have both.

But how is the actual service! You yell at me, Well unfortunately my interwebz sucks so I do not have that 5Mbps that SCE recommends but I rented Killzone 3 to test things out anyway.

A bit of loading latter and….

For those of you that have played Killzone 3 then yep no lag at all on that opening video, In fact there was almost no lag at all, Damn does she stream beautifly.

And now for what happens if you press the PS button!(plus some more pics from my phone since PSNow disables screenshots!)

Honestly other than that stupid pricing scheme I have nothing but good things to say about PSNow, Killzone 3 played perfectly with almost 0 lag and even when there was lag it was only for a sec which fortunately it was few and far between, Now that was Singleplayer campaign so what about multi right? Welp it is a tad laggy for me but overall it is very much playable.
