Instructions, Files and key information about TN-V10, the Package Installer & game exploits for Firmware 3.18
Since we are getting a lot, and by a lot I actually mean a metric f#ck ton, of questions, whining and misunderstood statements, I decided to create yet another blog post.
Let’s hope that this will lessen the work of us people helping the community.
Keep reading if you have questions about:
Installing Homebrews/Plugins/ISOs/PS1 games/TN-V itself/PKG Files…
Updating, new Firmware 3.30, current Firmware 3.18 and much more…
Installation of ISOs, Homebrews, Plugins, PS1 games and emulators for TN-V
Okay, let’s get started.
At first, I’ve made some easy to follow videos for firmware 3.01, which can help you with installing ISOs, PS1 games, Homebrews, Plugins and other things for TN-V.
Following those is recommended, since it is basically the same at firmware 3.18 (And read the damn readme.txt file of the exploit savedata!).
I am just going to link this Playlist, so watch the videos, but keep in mind that you will have to use the folder for your exploit game, instead of the folder showed in the video.
In case you are unable to install any kind of homebrew at your firmware 3.18 Gladiator Begins exploit PS Vita, simply follow this smart trick:
Download PSPFiler 6.6 and grab its EBOOT.PBP file.
Rename the EBOOT.PBP file to RECOVERY.PBP, then add the RECOVERY.PBP file to your exploit savedata folder (next to h.bin, TN.BIN, FLASH0.BIN and so on).
If you now launch TN-V and access the XMB, go into the Recovery Menu (press Select and then start the Recovery Menu) and use the “launch /PSP/SAVEDATA/*YourGamesID*/RECOVERY.PBP” function.
This should start PSPFiler 6.6 for you.
With the help of PSPFiler 6.6, you are able to move files, rename files and even open .ZIP/.RAR archives, so you can use PSPFiler 6.6 to install homebrews, PS1 games, plugins, ISOs & CSOs too.
Pro tip: I would install PSPFiler 6.6 at first with the help of the recovery menu PSPFiler 6.6, so you will be able to run PSPFiler 6.6 directly from the XMB.
Homebrews and PS1 games go into: /PSP/GAME/
Homebrews and PS1 games have to be in the .PBP format.
Plugins usually go into: /seplugins/ and have to be activated via the vsh.txt (XMB plugins), game.txt (game plugins) or pops.txt (ps1 game plugins).
The line to activate a plugin is usually: “ms0:/seplugins/plugin_name.prx 1”
It is simply just the path to the plugin followed by a space and a 1 to indicate it is active, or a 0 to indicate it is inactive.
ISOs and CSOs usually go into /ISO/.
Only PSP ISOs will work as .ISO or .CSO. Dont bother with PS1.ISO files, those have to be converted to .PBP to run them.
Questions about current firmware 3.18, upcoming firmware 3.30, TN-V files and VHBL
In this part I will answer questions related to the firmware 3.18, firmware 3.30, TN-V, the TN-V10 files for game XY and the upcoming VHBL release for firmware 3.30.
At first the VHBL: Firmware 3.30 will be most likely postponed due to the kxploit release. It will also patch the kxploit. This means no TN-V for firmware 3.30, stop asking!
If firmware 3.30 is available, it will only be possible to use the VHBL at said new firmware, and that will be possible via a new game we will release after firmware 3.30 is available, via the well known ninja release method we usually use to release things.
Next, TN-V files for MyStylist, Spave Invaders Extreme, Skate Park City, Zettai Hero Project, PawaPuro (3.15) and so on.
We are currently working on these files, just be patient, wait at your current firmware with your current exploit game. You just have to wait, thats it.
All those games are now able to run TN-V at their respective firmware limitation (e.g. Z.H.P. for 3.18, Space Invaders Extreme for 3.15, and so on), you just have to wait until we finish with the files. When we are done, we will release the files via Zload.net and also here, at wololo.net.
And do us a favor and read the damn readme.txt, instructions.txt and how they might be called, files. They should be able to answer most questions regarding your specific exploit game.
Currently running firmware 3.18 – No exploit game 🙁
For those of you, especially my australian friends, that were unable to get either the Z.H.P. – Zettai Hero Project or the Gladiator Begins exploit game, for whatever reason, I have to tell you, do not worry.
It might take a while – to be exact until the release of firmware 3.30 – until we release another exploit game, but as long as your device stays at firmware 3.18, you will be able to run the TN-V eCFW at your device.
After firmware 3.30 is available, we will prepare a ninja release for a new exploit game, I will just call the new exploit game the 3.30 game.
When the ninja release has been finished, we will publicly announce the 3.30 game and people will be able to get the 3.30 game with their firmware 3.30 PS Vitas and they will be able to run the VHBL at firmware 3.30 via the 3.30 game.
If you are asking what this has to do with you sitting at firmware 3.18 and waiting for another exploit game, keep reading.
If you use the new 3.30 game at a firmware below 3.30, it will be able to run TN-V with said game.
So if you firmware is between 1.00 and 3.18 (including 3.18), and you are using the upcoming 3.30 game, then you can run TN-V.
If your firmware is higher than 3.18, for example firmware 3.30, then you are only able to run the VHBL via the 3.30 at your firmware 3.30, since firmware 3.30 will very most likely fix the kernel mode exploit (like I’ve said above).
There is also a high chance that firmware 3.30 will fix some private exploit games, like it has been the case in the past, and those once private exploit games, that are now blocked by firmware 3.30, will be made public, so you can use them at firmware 3.18, since they only work for up to firmware 3.18, due to firmware 3.30 blocking them.
I hope you understood everything, and I know that I’ve repeated myself in some my sentences, but I did this to stress certain things, since they are important.
The Package Installer – How, what, why, …
What & How:
In the End I would like to talk about this special application that the package installer is.
It is a hidden application that can be accessed at a retail PS Vita, and allows the installation of foreign PSN store content, as long as the content is DRM-free.
It can not install: PSP demos, full PSP games, full PS1 games, full PS Vita games, any kind of PS2, PS3 or PS4 content.
It can install: PS Vita demos, PS Vita applications and other DRM-free content – Regardless of the PSN store region!
To get access to the PKG Installer yourself, try to use either the Zload.net version of the email script, or register yourself at Wololo.net/talk and use that version of the email script.
If you can not get the email, try to look into your spam folder, check if services like gmail block 3rd parties from accessing your email content or simply use another email address / email provider.
If pressing the email inside of the Email app will return an error message, instead of launching the PKG Installer, you might have to update your firmware, since the method to invoke the PKG Installer might has changed between different firmware versions.
Why now?
SKFU has found various entries to invoke the PKG Installer and decided to release one for the public. Check his blog for more information and different IDs to try to invoke different applications.
The Package Installer is not the only thing hidden inside the PS Vita.
How to install PKG Files?
I assume you got the PKG Installer running at your PS Vita, and you just need to know how to transfer PKG Files from your PC to your PS Vita.
In case you did not manage to open the PKG Installer, scroll up, re-read what I wrote and check the videos.
We need 2 things to successfully install PKGs at the PS Vita: A DRM-free PKG (e.g. Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f 2nd demo, eBook Reader application, etc) and Codestations QCMA (for Windows, OS X and Linux).
Download the demo version or the application to your PC and download the QCMA version for your operating system, be it Windows, Mac OS X or any kind of Linux.
Install QCMA and keep in mind that uninstalling the Sony CMA (& OpenCMA) including the PS Vita driver might be necessary for QCMA to work.
For the uninstallation of QCMA you will have to remove the PS Vita driver too, if you with to return to Sony/OpenCMA.
Refer to the thread linked above if you have any kind of problems with the installation of QCMA.
I assume the installation of QCMA was working and you also got one or both of the linked .PKG files.
Start QCMA, right click the QMCA icon that should be somewhere in your system tray and then go into the settings.
At the very bottom you can see something that refers to packages. That path can be changed but you can also keep it like it is.
You just have to know that your .PKG files will have to be put in that path, so QCMA can find them and you can install them via the Package Installer.
Be sure to right-click the QCMA system tray icon and refresh the database after you’ve added or removed files, since QCMA can not do this on its own (yet).
This wasn’t necessary with the Sony/OpenCMA, but it is with QCMA. You will get used to it.
If you did everything right, you should be able to see the .PKG Files listed inside of the Package Installer application and the installation of DRM-free content should be successful, e.g. the Miku 2nd demo or the japanese eBook reader application.
Some finishing words
I do know that qwikrazor87 and Total_Noob did the most work here, by programming the kernel exploit and creating TN-V, respectively, but I do wish to express that this ‘community service’ I am doing for you guys is pretty exhausting.
Having to tell people everything ten times is very stressful and I hope that I could help you folks with this article and the videos I’ve made at my youtube.
In the End I wish for the incredible amount of duplicated questions to lessen, if not disappear at all, but we both know that this won’t happen, so I will keep it at lessen.
Enjoy running the TN-V10 eCFW on your PS Vita, be it via an older firmware like 1.81 or with the most recent firmware 3.18, and have fun with foreign store content via the Package Installer.
Note: you can donate to Qwikrazor87, the person behind most of these exploits, here.

I thought I’d point out that if you sign in with wololo talk account and use that link the email worked first try for me.
Can sombody post a link to uk app Tag,please? Thanks for the article. It only took one try
fo me yesterday. The instructioons were good. I want some uk apps
There are two exploits for the Vita, but none available in Brazil psn….the life is cool 🙂
você devia ter criado a psn americana jovem, por causa de mais conteúdos.
Rapaz eu até tenho uma conta americana, porém não a uso pq meu conteudo ta na BR 🙁
So does this mean that we could install PSO2 on our US PS Vita? Or does that have some sort of DRM…
“It can not install: PSP demos, full PSP games, full PS1 games, full PS Vita games, any kind of PS2, PS3 or PS4 content.”
It’s written …
It’s not an unreasonable question becuase PSO2 is a free download.
I never said it was unreasonable, I just said it was written 😉
So, if I read this correctly, then the files for said exploits are not yet available. Guess I’ll pick up Gladiator Begins before it’s wiped off the store. Pretty cool, since Gladiator Begins is actually a pretty fun game. Maybe now I’ll actually be able to try King of Pool. It was probably fine for me to actually play and save the game before, but I couldn’t be too sure. For now we just wait, correct? Well, keep up the good work, guys. There’s at least a few somebodies out there that appreciate this.
I’m not sure if I understand exactly what you mean. TN-V10 is already working on Gladiator Begins exploit. A few posts ago from the Z gave the link to the files.
All free DLC and free Vita content that isn’t applications are signed with the account you downloaded them on, so its impossible to install free DLC and PSO2, Toro’s Friend Network etc.
Also I got a Japanese PSP demo to install (Danganronpa) but booting it tells me to redownload it, I thought that PSP demos just refused to install.
Can i use The Package Installer without the e-mail app?, because i’m on the 1.81 (urbanix exploit) so i don’t have it, there’s a way to do it with the browser?
Sorry for my bad english.
Unfortunately you can’t. Try to update your firmware to 3.18 (and grab the gladiator game too if you want to use TN-V) then you’ll have access to the mail app and thus to the email script
yeah throw browser
got fixed in firmware, idk, some firmware
really wish all of you people asking the same stupid already answered questions over and over again would just read it only took me 5 seconds to get tn-v10 for firmware 3.18 running on my vita and another 5 to test out the PKG installer…..ALL of the information needed is already given so JUST READ
can someone of you play cspsp online? it stuck at logging in for me :/
Did you know that AcidSnake just released a sh#t ton of exploits, 300 MB worth about 21 games, and 1 more kxploit while you was typing this? I see another blog post on the way.
Sony is having it’s period in a long as$ time.
Just copied across the gladiator begins save hack. Opened it up and have ended up with the “blue screen of death” pressing start didn’t restart my vita so i turned it off now it wont come back on. I am very new to this can someone please help me ASAP. Thanks.
Scrap that it fixed it but in the recovery menu it fails to install the 6.60 files, any ideas guys. Thanks for your time.
Did you rename the 6.60 pbp file as 660.PBP? This is the most common issue.
Its only amount of time that we will soon use the package installer to install psvita games,ps1, and other homebrew-hopefully this will lead to a kernal exploit on the vita
Everything is working, got psp and homebrew games running. Question though, is there a way to make ps1 games fullscreen with TN-V?
I finally got the e mail via my wololo account last night. And it says if I can read this message then the method has been patched? I wake up and you post the tutorial again? Is this real? Is it still working? What am I doing wrong? Fw 3.01
Did you open the mail with the email app ON YOUR VITA ?
“If pressing the email inside of the Email app will return an error message, instead of launching the PKG Installer, you might have to update your firmware, since the method to invoke the PKG Installer might has changed between different firmware versions.”
But it is known to be working on 3.01 FW
What’s your mail address ?
I know we cannot run PKGs we don’t have a license for, but what about games we do, again using crash bandicoot as an example, we install the PKG for crash bandicoot 1, to the vita, If we try to run it will it send me to the pan store to update license and since I own it will it be playable?
when i try to add plugins and themes correctly and exit recovery menu i get Blue Screen Of Death. does any one else get this or no
Broose I thought it might be a FW issue? I received the email. I opened it on my vita. I repeated the process on my vita. But still no luck. The email reads if you can read this email it is likely that it has been patched my email is freemyvita@gmail.com
Thanks broose for the help.
Try it again now
Wow. Am I the only one here that didn’t know that there were a kexploit on 3.18?
Probably. There’s about 3 posts on the front page about it.
Well i still wait for the mail on my 2 emails…. (Yup i search in Spam folder)
@PraizDaiz <- – – How did you install ps1 games on TN-V? i've been looking around all the forums and youtube videos…. the only thing i saw was this "Ps1 Loader" !
@ Arthanis, me too dude, i’ve gotten every ninja release except for this one. Did i miss something? I know i wasnt flagged for anything
There was no ninja release for the 3.18 exploit because it’s due to the leak of said exploit by the author, qwikrazor87 himself
I do not mean this in ANY bad way, but you can read the related article here : http://wololo.net/2014/09/12/damage-control-emergency-kernel-exploit-release/
NVM it was an emergency release. Well Damn
was the pkg installer patched,
if not could someone email me: tommyt1974@hotmail.co.uk
Keep getting an error reading 660 files
You should download the eboot.PBP then rename it to 660.PBP. Install that to the Gladiators begin savedata.
I did that, it still gives me the error.
Got it. nevermind
how did u fix it? it didnt work for me
Does anyone know how to use the Tekken 2 Ps1 Loader yet? i have the game but don’t know how to run it. !! help plz !
is this qcma works only with wifi connection or not?, and is this work 3.01 fw?
I am having trouble getting homebrews and ISO’s to work even though I am following the video guide. The stuff don’t show up in the XMB screen. Any help please.
so according to this chart patapon will be ecfw enabled?**
Can’t get Homebrew to install. I can get into PsPfiler from Recovery, but can’t find a way to install it from there.
Im having the same issue. The homebrews from the zip files dont show up on my vita. Through recovery I can open filer but dont know how to install it
Patapon 1 no exploit files?
Give it time.
Good things come to those who wait. 😉
Hoping to hear which one was the “good” one, that was being reserved for 3.30………… although Sunday night is looming over here. 🙁
I think Wololo said it was Patapon 1 and 2 that was going to be used with 3.30. But now Sony will patch the exploit FOR SURE in 3.30.
I bought Patapon 1 and Tekken 2 on my Aussie account (as Gladiator Begins wasnt on the Aussie store), and I got Gladiator Begins on my US account…which I think im going to use as my MAIN account from now on. Many games on the PSN that arent available on the Aussie store, AND they are cheaper lol! Us Aussies are always getting sc*** with Technology related stuff :(!
Though the poor buggers in Brasil get sc*** price wise EVEN MORE then us Aussie blokes 🙁
I had test NPXS10000 to NPXS10041 most APPs can’t run
Monster Hunter 3rd no run!
I can confirm that my theory does NOT work, pkg files of PS1 games will not install PERIOD, but I found that certain PSP demos could, mainly lord of arcana demo and naruto shippuden kizuna drive demo, but CANNOT run, these are demos that don’t generate a license file when installed on a PSP and I think that’s why the vita will install them but it will not run for that same reason the vita NEEDS a license file to run it and the pkg needs to not be able to give a license to install so I can say PSP demos do NOT work at all to run.
a question .. the game Patapon 1 and 2 runs VHBL or ECFW ??? would like to know before upgrading to 3.18 and make the purchase .. because in the list of exploit that enables ECFW appears in another post mentioned but it was for 3.30 VHBL.
another question. the game “Fieldrunners” which they say is a “new exploit” is ECFW or VHBL and if I could run for TN-V so upgrade to 3.18 and buy the game … please
Hi guys, I have a question. Do you know if the psx games are still playable without sound? I tried ff8 but ther’s no sound.
