SKFU releases ★ Package Installer Unlock on the retail PS Vita!
If we look back at the various Gamescom videos I’ve uploaded, we could see that there is a special Application installed at the developer PS Vitas:
The Package Installer.
The App actually exists within the retail (that is your normal everyday PS Vita) PS Vita, but it is hidden.
If we use the following method, we are able to actually access and use the Package Installer application ourselves!
At first, how the heck can we access this hidden app?
Well, simply follow this easy video and you should be able to use the Package Installer at your own PS Vita.
No time to watch a video? Well, visit this website, enter your email address and press continue. (Note from wololo: people with a /talk account can also directly go here)
Next open the Email Application on your PS Vita, set up your email that you’ve used in the step from above, if you did not do this yet.
Open the new email you should’ve gotten and press the start button on the picture inside of the email.
If by black magic, the Package Installer application should open and you will be able to use it… Kind of…
The Package Installer has basically 2 ways to transfer content: Via host0:/ and via the CMA. Problem: The retail PS Vitas do not have a host0:/ and the normal CMA can not transfer packages.
How to solve this? Well, simply use the QCMA, made by codestation, which is capable of transfering your already saved content and additionally has a PS Vita firmware update function and a function for transfering packages, if you have access to the Package Installer.
Does this mean free PSP/PS1/PS Vita games?
Wow! Stop right there! It is not as easy as you think.
The Package Installer is only capable of installing DRM-free content, which basically means you can not install any kind of content, that requires you to pay for it, e.g. full PSP/PS1/PS Vita games.
Any kind of demo applications, regardless of the PSN Store region (!), can be installed… As long as it is a PS Vita demo.
Pure applications like NicoNico, Netflix and the eBook Reader can also be installed, since those do not require you to have a license for them.
PSP demos can, unfortunally, not be installed via this way, otherwise a free PSP demo exploit could be, potentionally, possible. Aww, bummer!
Some might think that this is useless, some others might think that this is great, since demos like Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f 2nd can now be played at any kind of PS Vita, regardless if they have access to the japanese PSN Store or not.
In the end you have to know yourself if you are going to use this or not.
I would like to thank SKFU for his work and dedication to the PS Vita, even if he hides a lot of things from the public, the things he releases are always a stunning surprise!

NO, the game has in-game purchase and are linked to PSN id so no you can not install it. Though I read on a comment yesterday that the update patch downloads.

hotmail doesn’t work i can confirm. get a gmail account, get talk account with that, setup that gmail account on your vita and send the mail from wololo’s link, that is it.
That’s weird, I have tried like yahoo, gmail, and hotmail for the last 12 hours with hundreds of attempts and still nothing. I think the generator is broken or only wants to work when it wants too.

This how I made it to work compose a email(I used yahoo, i dont know if others work) to your self. Now write anything on message body for example *** and highlight with left click with the mouse then right click over it and select inspect element(Q), a window will pop out with something highlight now just copy and paste this script on it:

a question, you can use an exploit in Patapon 2 demo, since it does not work because it savedata demo, this has the option of loading savedata (cof, translator)

I couldn’t get this to work with Hotmail (has to be manually configured as POP3) but with a Gmail account it works.
When using Hotmail, the email shows up as source code, while Gmail shows the clickable picture that opens the email.
I noticed Gmail is configured as IMAP, maybe it has something to do with this.
So I guess… if sfku could actually tweak the package installer… and be able to bypass the DRM or licenses of every PKG whether bought or free, It could actually become a hacking tool… but I think that may be hard knowing that every PKG downloaded from the playstore by a specific person already has its entitled owner… (sighs)… but I still do hope it could become a very big help for everyone 🙂

but… what if a full game would be able to turn out as a trial game?
How are you supposed to tweak any piece of software? You cannot do so without breaking the digital signature, thus causing the software not to run. Only Sony has the secret keys to sign their software.
I messed around with this for a while, and was bummed to notice that once you go offline with your Vita, all your emails disappear even if you downloaded them to your Vita before (I guess technically you don’t download anything when using IMAP).
This was a huge letdown for me as I keep my Vita blocked from the Internet, and I don’t want to have to unblock it whenever I need to use this package installer. So I came up with a solution…
I installed dovecot and postfix on a machine on my LAN in order to run my own IMAP server that I proceeded to set up the PSVita to connect to.
This works rather well, for some reason the picture that’s supposed to be in the email doesn’t show up, but if you click the white nothing-content of the mail, sure enough the package installer runs 🙂 I tested all of this while my Vita had its internet access completely blocked off and it’s working the way I hoped!
