Man that’s sad. End of an era.

  2. So, Z, how do we put games on the PSP legally from PS now that we cant download them via wifi? I’ve never done it any other way.

    • The Z

Either use MediaGo via your PC, or use a PS3.

Otherwise, put the stuff into a folder and then into the /PSP/GAME/ directory.

      Licenses go into /PSP/LICENSE/

    • RealPlayStationGamer

PSP doesn’t support PS Now, only Vita, PS3 and PS4 do.
Where the heck did you get the idea that PS Now was supported on PSP?

  3. I’ll admit its a minor inconvenience because now you have to download games through PS3 or PC then transfer them to the PSP. This wouldn’t be a inconvenience at all if the Vita supported the full library of games the PSP can play both PSP & PSX not just PSP and -some- PSX Games.

considering that sony doesn’t care too much about their vita i think this is a stupid move on their part. sure, if u kill the original vita will be the only one, but no one wants the vita as much as the psp.

  5. Frank

They should put all the PSP library into PSN for the Vita. Some games like Crisis Core was never released on PSN though. They should release them right after this change.

  6. taronish3

Finaly day came when it happened for good.

  7. Kryptek

We gotta say though, the PSP had a GOOD run, I guess Sony is finally starting to give up on it, hopefully they start doing more to the Vita! 😀

  8. Dero

Knew this day was coming. Hope this doesn’t affect Psp users to bad.

  9. reprep

as always, homebrewers are always with us, unlike sony. There is now a new plugin that lets psp go users use a DS3 with full button config (R2,R3,L2,L3) and right analog support.

  10. Will Lewis

it feels like yesterday that I held a PSP for the first time. time slows for no one!

  11. Aramaru

Those are sad news… I’ll think thrice (twice before) now before buying digital games in general but… Is this confirmed for all regions ? I have Japanese PSN account for my PSP and Vita and I didn’t receive any Sony notices except for advertisment scrap. Perhaps this change affects only US and EU regions.

    • PSPcfwDUDE

The JAP store will probably last longer due to much more releases coming to the PSP compared to the US/EU regions, but I don’t think it’ll last long.

  12. PSPcfwDUDE

End of an era indeed. Not much of a deal really, since downloading from a PC is much faster than the PSP’s relatively slow WiFi. I kept seeing a “The PSP store is moving to…” picture on PSN and I knew this day was coming. Still gonna use my PSP as a primary multimedia player, aswell as for gaming 🙂

  13. Filippo

Just make sure anyone has bought and download every existing game so to make sure we’ll never lose anything.

  14. oo7

    +1 for CFWs and ISOs

  15. jlo138

At least you still have access through a PC or PS3. I always used the PC for that anyways. But I’ve backed up all my games and licenses to an external HDD just incase changes ever happened and plus it’s more convenient and faster when adding games.

One day they will drop support of those games on their server and you’ll lose everything if you don’t back them up. Be prepared people. Don’t think they’ll host the games for you forever.

  16. NNNRT

Man! What the heck is happening to Sony?! Whenever I entered that PSP Store I thought “look how awesome the PSP still is.” Well, whatever. 😥

  17. bakasupreme

Well this is unfortunate, my GO’s USB slot doesn’t work correctly so I can’t move data to it from my computer.
Damnit still actually buy PSP games from the store :/

    • DS_Marine

Use the web browser to install a FTP client in your Go and use it to transfer stuff (assuming you have CFW)

      • bakasupreme

        Alas not.
I’ve been trying to figure out how that pspdemo site puts files into the correct folders, but I haven’t had much luck.

      • bakasupreme

Ah! I Just had an idea. I could buy a M2 card and reader, move the EBOOT’s over on my PC like that and put it in the console.
        This will work, right?

  18. TheHollander

It saddens my heart to see it finally end… But I hope, that my PSP’s will live for a VERY long time… I never leave to goto places (like g’mas, or in-laws, not grocery store, etc), without it… My daughters use them… my wife, and I STILL link up and play games with each other… This device is TRULY amazing, with the thing we can all do with it… And, I hope that development, and modding it, will continue to happen (even though it’s slowed down), for years to come… im glad that it has been “opened” up, and I was able to bear witness to it all… Thank you all, for making that happen… But its sad to see, that it is offically over with Sony… (sorry for my little “rant”… I just fell in love with this thing from day one!)…

Here you go; a cookie for a great speech and also to encourage you. We all will miss the PSP Store ;(

Someone give this man another cookie.

    • Kira Slith

A second cookie for the inspiring speech…
The PSP will live on in the hearts of all gamers, Long as we live, so will the PSP. LONG LIVE PSP!

Great News!!!!! we need the psp to be put to rest in order to attain more interest in the vita, the psp was a great device and it could have achieved much more greatness if it wasn’t plagued by piracy, piracy is the reason the vita is plagued by a small library of bad games. Let’s move on, support Sony and get the vita back on track to beating the competition!!!!!!!!! Btw psp users including myself still have access to our psn games just not directly from the psp…..that is really not a big problem! If you can put on custom firmware, you can definitely get your psp games and ever heard of eBay?? Psp games be CHEAP!!!

  20. Dr.Lost

    vita lover

  21. Dr.Lost

well the guy who made that speech, hollander, is that kind of person you want to buy em a drink.
    PSP FOR LIFE

  22. NeonAera

Better pick up some good digital PlayStation titles before they are gonee….!! 🙁

  23. Captain Esude

I wonder now since this is going to in effect, that Sony might allow psp games to enter the store of the Vita. They had accidentally let people download any game that was bought a few months ago, I wonder if they will make that permanent next update.

    • Stiffeno

PSP games are already on the Vita store, there is a section for them…at least there is on the Aussie/Euro PSN!

      • Ricky D

He’s talking about the complete PSP and PS1 libraries, not the partial ones listed as compatible and directly downloadable to Vita

        2 different things

        • Stiffeno

Oh yes I see! I myself have been waiting forever for Fight Night Round 3 to come to the Australian Vita Store! If Sony adds the entire catalog I will be cheering haha!

          Fingers crossed >.<!

  24. 66rpg

so,can we hijack it to the pc site in the future? Or modify it’s host then using like ftp.

  25. Ars3king

Maybe this move is just for the vita ‘s cwf, cause if u are in the 3.01 or below,u can still download game to the vita without the stupid “upgrade”, while after it,there are no legal way to do this. I think the next step is an update of cma, what sony want is totally make a hacked vita offline, for if a vita’s online feature lost, it’s really a ***!

  26. Davey

See … one day this will happen to Vita. No more downloads. Ever. Exactly why I buy all my games on cart.

  27. 007

Digital downloads are great however having to depend on just a digital file sucks. I miss the day games were stored on ROM chips in carts. They were reliable and less worrisome

  28. Thrawn

    NOOOOO00000000000ooooooooooo….. *fades to silence*
Shieks… this was somehow suspected to happen but honestly I had hoped they would drag out support for one more year.
What a miserable year…. first the nds *still cries tears of blood*…. then games for windoof live and gamespy network… now the psp…
Next thing to loose “store & network” access will be the Wii. Then the PS3 and Xbox 360.

  29. piotrekhenry

What about PSN Patches for UMD’s? Those require PSN access and can not be downloaded via PC/MediaGo.

  30. lollypop

hurry greasemonkey-db the psp psn store

  31. 123asd

Never try to use a psp connect to psn, that’s useless since psp can run iso without psn

  32. JCK07115

It would be nice to have a repository…for all those PSP titles… 🙂

  33. VitaADDICT

Sad news but at least can play with vita to resistance retribution PSP online,
Cmon bros we need more people playing online -.-

  34. Raquel

NOOOOO!!!!!!!! I still use my psp go, I still use the psn store even with CFW…. Why Sony why?!?!?!?! Not everyone has a psvita!

  35. lollypop

anyone up for a $10 dollar contest on the monthly tutorial contests ?
    the stake is simple
    u have a week time
code a pc-browser that the psp-store thinks its a psp
use temper tamper greasemonkey to clone store and spoof said titles
    write a tutorial about it.
    tahts’ it ! lol

  36. Charles Fasano

I never received an email about the PSP Store closing. Not in my spam folder either. I have no issues receiving other emails from Sony about my purchases. What gives?

  37. Smoker1

Will there still be work on improvements on CFWs? For example making the PSP 3000s and the Motherboards that can not be Permanently CFWed Permanent?

  38. SsJVasto

Should we start reverse-engineering the PSN store to include a “PSP Homebrew Network” to replace it? (Included in CFW)

  39. Telgardrakore

Well I guess this means CFW and ISO’s are all thats left for the psp and sony refuses to let us download most psp games on the vita. Guess all thats left is hunt for UMD’s or thank god for piracy.
