Remote play PS3 games to PSVita using a PS3 on CFW 3.55 – How to

Remote Play PS3 requires the latest firmware
In order to remote play your ps3 games to psvita you will need to be at 4.XX PS3 firmware because the ps3 will not recognize the Psvita at 3.XX and older firmwares. If you have a OFW you should not have any problem, but if you are using a CFW there’s risks of being banned.
In fact, on 4.XX PS3 firmwares you will need to connect both PSVita and PS3 to the same PSN account and being logged in on a CFW PS3 represents a risk of ban, and Sony will not only ban your account but also the devices related to it which means the PS3 and the PSVita devices and you will lose all access to PSN. I know that there’s many tools that help reduce the risk of ban, but the risk is always here.
Recommended Routers for Remote play
The following routers have been recommended by gamers for the best Remote play experience on your PS3/PS4 and PS vita. In general for Remote Play you are looking for solid Wifi performance and a good range, given that at least your PS Vita will be on Wifi, and potentially your PS4/PS3 too.
- NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 (~ $195)
- ASUS (RT-AC68U) (~$195)
- ASUS RT-N66U (~$110)
How to : Remote play on your older firmware PS3
The solution for this is to use older ps3 CFWs like 3.55 that will allow you to connect you PSVita to your PS3 as a mobile device without being logged in to PSN on any device.
On older firmwares, the PS3 will not be able to recognize the PSVita as a PSVita device but you will be able to make it look like another device that PS3 recognize for remote play.
This tutorial will guide you on how to use ps3 remote play to PSVita using a PS3 on CFW 3.55 (this works on any other firmware).
To enable remote play on your PS3 You will need :
- A PS3 CFW 3.55
- A PS Vita.
- A USB cable (supplied with PS Vita) to register the PS Vita to the PS3.
- Multiman installed on PS3.
- First, open the remote play PS3 application on your PSVita. It will tell you to go on the PS3 to Settings> Remote Play Settings> register the device and select the PS Vita.
- When you get to register the device, you will not see PSVita system in the list, so choose mobile phone.
- Link the two devices with the given code on your PS3 and put the code on the PSVita when asked to put it.
- On the PS3, go to Network> Remote Play, it will ask you to enable remote playback on the device to associate.
- On the PSVita go to remote play (yes again) and choose private network connection then press ok (on the message that appears) then the connection is made.
- Now go to Multiman, and start your game.
NOTE : You can change various settings as configuration keys via the little box at the bottom right on your PSVita.
Please note that not all ps3 games are compatible and not all of them can be remote played.

Is it possible to play ps2 games via remote play on you´re ps vita if you have a ps3 with the cfw and the ps2 emulator
well, it look like you can’t make any constructive comments. haven’t it occur to you to ask if he has a B/C console? there are still some owner of such systems, you know?
Yes it’s possible, there are tutorials for this on the web.
Isn’t this already like realllyyyy old ? I have known how to do this before even getting a PS Vita, it’s just pretty useless because the best games usually don’t work..
useless? see my video on youtube and than repeat again xD
Haha okay, where can I find your video ?
I tried doing this a while back with GTA V and GT6, but it always kept on looping the main load screen.. I tried Far Cry 3 too but it didn’t work either.
“useless? see my video on youtube and than repeat again xD have fun looking forever”
FTFY
I know but tnx) mirrors edge and borderlands 1 and last DMC work. The picture sucks and there are little freezes though.
There’s too much delay with remote play on PS3… Ps4 is much more smoother…
This is a good tut for anyone stuck on 3.55 but if u are in the 4.x.x range, remote play is active via the remote play setting in the ps3 settings. Most games work fine with remote play with minimal to lo lag but there are some games which don’t work at all (ex. Last of us). There are methods to changing the parameters to allow remote play on games that don’t traditionally allow it but some games still don’t work with that (ex. Last of us). Perhaps I’ll put a full tut upon how to do that soon. As for ps2 games via remote play, you need either a BC ps3 with a ps2 game in it or a full cobra cfw to allow that via multiman.
I forgot to mention that I am on 4.55cfw and currently playing on remote play in bed with no lag (Darksiders 2, just beat deadspace 2 this way). I haven’t had time to upgrade to a cobra 4.60cfw with my newborn and all
This is interesting…and yeah, there are probably reasons why most PS3 games won’t work vita Remote Play…mostly probably have to do with devs’s end to enable the it or it could be the incompatible remote play option some games have.
I have a fully Backwards Compatible PS3, will I be able to use PS2 games?
Here’s a list i found for working PS3 games via remote play: http://tech4idiots.org/2013/11/26/ps-vita-remote-play-games-list/
I have tried watch dogs and dirt 3 and they work via remote play.
Sorry but there is many mistakes in this tuto.
First of all, you start in saying « In order to remote play your ps3 games to psvita you will need to be at 4.XX PS3 » This is wrong and you proved this yourself after because the tutorial is on a 3.55 PS3.
The fact is on a 3.55, like you say, psvita isn’t recognized like psvita, so the trick is to use mobile device mode. On 4.XX, psvita is recognize like psvita. The main difference between this two things is the graphic quality is not very good with mobile device mode, unlike in psvita mode. Moreover, compatibility is a bit more big on 3.55 with mobile device mode than on 4.XX with psvita mode.
Secondly, You say : « on 4.XX PS3 firmwares you will need to connect both PSVita and PS3 to the same PSN account » this is totally false ! You may remote play through private network OR ad-hoc mode. Internet mode (wich need PSN logging) is just the third mode
Finally, If there is some cool guys who can read my topic and help me to connect psvita and CFW 4.XX PS3 for remote play through wifi router without using internal ps3 wifi card.
My topic where i need help is here:

I am on CFW 4.XX.
The remote play worked over Private Network… Is there any chance for banning my vita? Or ps3?
The vita is connected with wifi of course, yet my ps3 is not connected at all and
PSN ID is signed only on the vita
Any risk? Thanks…
Something I noticed while trying to remote play GTA V, was, that the game starts up fine, but it changes the controller 1 to two, and the Vita to 1, which makes sense. Now, because the game doesn’t recognize the Vita as a controller, it just ends the connection and (usually freezes up).
I think this is the reason why most games don’t work, and some will, because some will let you play with the Vita controls, or don’t change the DS3 as if it was the 2nd controller.
If we can find a way to keep the DS3 as controller 1, or make it so that we can use the DS3, while in remote play, we might be able to use the Vita as a main( or extra) screen, or may be able to fully play it haha.
Just my two cents 🙂
I want CFW on my CECH-3001b but it’s not possible at the moment 🙁
Wololo, please make tutorial PS3proxyserver for downloding games on PC in OFW! please! xD
I am on CFW 4.XX.
