July contest winners announced + August tutorial contest details
Alright! It’s that time again! It’s time to end last month’s contests and begin August’s contests. I will save the best for last, and provide information for Wololo.net/Talk ‘s Monthly Tutorial contests.
As some of you may know, a few months back Wololo decided to create tutorial contest for each platform in the forums. His idea was to bring more content to /Talk while rewarding the people providing original content with US PSN codes. Since then, it has grown quite a bit and even the recently created 3DS forums are getting some love.
Nowadays Wololo gives out $60 each month in PSN codes, with an extra bonus for the tutorial that has the most votes across all platforms for that month. It really simple to enter, all you have to do is post original content that you made in the tutorial forums for the console and then reply on the sticky thread where I will judge it and decide whether it is worthy to enter. Now, with that little introduction out of the way, lets get to this months contests.
For those that do not yet know the rules, here they are:
- Your guide/Tutorial can be any guide/Tutorial related to the Vita
- Your guide/tutorial must be original content and not previously published on other sites
- If submitting a previously posted tutorial it will need to have significant updates to qualify
- Do not make new accounts just to vote for your own tutorial. That’s also a violation of the duplicate accounts rule here on /Talk
- “Tutorials” such as this one will not be accepted, Put some effort into it or don’t bother at all
Now, please not the following two new rules:
- Before entering, be sure to read this guide on making tutorials
- You are only allowed to enter with one tutorial for each console. eg. you cannot have two PSVita tutorials, but you can have a PSVita and a PS3 tutorial. You will be able to choose which enters if you make two in the same console.
On the first one I have to apologize to Wolfmade for not adding it to the rules sooner. I was suppose to include it in the July contests, but completely forgot about it. For the second one, this is something that I believe is not fair to the other participants. Really all this would do is increase the chance for you to win and collect $10.
Now for the threads in which to enter!
- PlayStation Vita – $10
- PlayStation 4 – $10
- PlayStation Portable – $10
- PlayStation 3 – $10
- Nintendo 3DS – $10
Now, I’m sure at this point that the few of you that read my articles are counting the number of words in this article to see if it’s a record on this blog.. But you would be forgetting that I need to announce the winners of last months contests! So put up your calculators and I’ll try to get it through pretty quickly 😛
In the PS3 section, it was a pretty easy victory for karimbol’s tutorial on Running all PS3 games without a working BluRay Player. He received 9 votes where the second place tutorial on Safely going online with a CFW PS3 only got 2.
For the PSVita section, the winner was alexrivera’s tutorial on Remote playing with a Vita and a 3.55 CFW PS3. He also got 9 votes, while second place was a tutorial on Downloading content faster from the PSStore
The PS4 contests had about the same results as the previous two as far as number of votes. The winner was natemir’s tutorial on Changing the DS4’s battery to make it last longer which, again, got 9 votes. The runner-up in this section was also similar to the runner-up from the PSVita section which would be a tutorial on Increasing PS4 download rate.
Last but not least, the PSP section! The winner was gokumert’s Use your own music in GTA: Liberty City Stories which got 10 votes overall. The second place tutorial was one on Creating a merged file of Final Fantasy Type 0
You may have noticed that there was only 1 participant in the 3DS forums. That means jovita85 wins automatically with his tutorial on Changing the upper LCD screen on a 3DS. All these users mentioned so far will receive a $10 US PSN code from Wololo for the exception of one that got an extra $10 code. This is the one that got 10 votes in the PSP section.
So, congratulations to these winners and good luck to all future participants and a big thanks to josh_axey for creating that image for me 🙂
Note from wololo to the winners of the July contest: because of my vacation, sending the PSN codes for this month got a bit delayed. Smoke will send them to you shortly. Apologies for the delay!
why there is no xbox 360 thread ?
How dare you mention that “Junk” on this wesite! 😉
Lol it stilla game console
It is quite annoying that the July contest poll was not announced here on the wololo.net/ homepage. I wasn’t aware that voting had started until it had ended. I usually visit the poll thread via the voting article that is written here. For instance:
May tuto contest – http://wololo.net/2014/06/01/may-2014-tutorial-contests-have-ended-vote-for-your-favorite-tutorial/
June tuto contest – http://wololo.net/2014/07/01/june-tutorial-contests-have-ended-time-to-vote/
I guess it was because Wololo was on holiday around the ending of July but it really messed up the publicity for my article :/
Indeed, since I went on holiday and smoke was busy with private life, we forgot to write that announcement.
