Hoping that sony will take a look at vita firmware again after the exploit released!

  2. spaze invadarz

Hello there, I just wanna ask before installing TN-V on my PSV/PSV TV..

Can you still play vita games(retail, download) after you have installed the exploit?

    • anonanon

Some (Not all) Games have a firmware check, which checks to make sure the vita firmware is above a specific firmware, otherwise the game wont run. So if a kernel exploit got released for 3.15, and you stayed n 3.15 even after new firmware updates come out, you’d eventually run into games that wont play on 3.15.

Also, you can only access online features of the Vita when on the latest firmware. So once a new firmware comes out, and you don’;t update, you’ll be unable to access the PSN store on the vita, and would have to use a PS3 to transfer any digital games to your vita.

      • Bass2style

possible to use the PC to download/transfer the games ? (with the content manager or so)

  3. Mr Fwibbles

    spaze invadarz, yes, you can.

  4. ivo

    great nexus news!
spaze invadarz u can but u must use ps3 proxy gui to acces store …
so u could/can stay on lower firmware with an xml bypass …
and ur pc must be on ofc …

but kmode what about vmode ? vita jailbreak mode ?
can we ever expect a cydia for psp or psvita ?

  5. UnLuck3R

hope KOP exploit can be fix

    • The Z

KoP was already exploited 3 times:

      Pre 3.00
      3.00
      3.01

There wont be a 4th exploit in KoP.

      • JCK07115

Haha, I laughed at this comment

*JCK gives The Z a cookie*

        • qwikrazor87

I laugh at you because I was the one who exploited it three times.

          • Dmaskell92

            I thank you again.

          • JCK07115

Just to clarify qwikrazor, you laughed at me or with me? I found what The Z said funny, I was in no way mocking him or anyone (which turned out to be you) that exploited KoP.

          • qwikrazor87

I laughed at you because I was under the impression that you were laughing out of disbelief. xD

          • JCK07115

A misconception, I see. Obviously, regardless of the fact that I didn’t get the KoP exploit, I believe that it is possible for it to have been exploited thrice because it did happen because there were flaws in the game. I am a growing programmer, I don’t scorn other programmers, especially experienced people in the scene like you, @wololo, @The Z, @Acid_Snake. I love programmers, legit! hehe

            It’s JCK07115 \o/

          • JCK07115

            @Dmaskell92 shut up hehe

          • JCK07115

@Dmaskell92, please scrap my joke-insult. According to this comment of yours down below on this page:

“JRPG’s paved the way. I have yet to play a JRPG that feels like another, or lacks in story. Kids today just want mindless, online, shooting games, and all without that useless, well written script I seem to enjoy more than human interaction.”

you’re old (somewhat). I didn’t mean any disrespect hehe.

  6. shai

can i use this hack to play psp games on fm 3.15 ps vita?
if so, how can i get this hack?

    • JCK07115

Didn’t you read this part of the article,
“Our forum Developers acid_snake and qwikrazor87 have found such a kernel mode exploit, one that is still working up to firmware 3.15, which enables the usage of the TN-V eCFW at firmwares higher than 3.01.”

      OR this

“Will this ever be released? And if this will be released, when? Are the 3.1x VHBL games able to boot TN-V, if this gets released?
Those are currently questions that are asked a lot, since having an eCFW at the most recent firmware is a lot better than just having the VHBL, which is still better than having nothing at all.
I can not answer the first two questions myself, but maybe qwikrazor87 and Acid_Snake are willing to answer these questions.”

      OR this,

“Now we play the waiting game. Stay tuned!”

Always read the whole article, sometimes it has the answers to your questions.

  7. zzz

what about the loading file size(I think it was around 30MB or so) limit with psp mini’s?
AFAIK, current vita firmware limits PSP emulator from loading files larger than a specific size if psp mini game is used.
did they somehow find a way around?

    • qwikrazor87

The file size limit for minis (with no net functions) is 24 MB, doesn’t matter what size the eboot is, this doesn’t affect normal PSP games or minis that use net functions.

    • The Z

Thats why I said “most games”.

  8. gunblade

So like for two player games can Probly jus hook up a ps3 or pstwo controllers.

  9. Josh

Sweet! I hope my old eploit game will end up working with this. I cant aford a nother game! Lol

  10. Blaze

So if I download Space Invaders on 3.15 I will be able to run TN-V in the future??

    • jonas

i don’t think you can download it anymore, but if you already have it, than you could run tn-v in the future

  11. ss4gogeta069

This is awesome guys!!! Now we just need a US exploit game for 3.15!

  12. jonas

nice work guys, i’m finally be able to play my bundled copy of borderlands 2 when this comes out

    • Dmaskell92

It will only work as long as the firmware is current. Sony will update and leave you with only the proxy method. Then Sony will update again, and the proxy method won’t work either. So either buy another Vita, or play Borderlands 2 for a week if you’re lucky.

      • ErnieBall

even if a new ofw gets released you will still be able to play the game. Just not in multiplayer.

        • jonas

that was what i was aiming for, and don’t really care much about multiplayer anyway, so as long as they don’t change the required minimum fw i’ll be good

  13. sfertyui

I can use my arcade darts or have to buy a special game? Can not make a port?

  14. Draven

This is why I own two PS Vitas. I have finally managed to escape the endless cat-and-mouse cycle between homebrew enthusiasts and Sony. Probably cheaper in the long run, too, as compared to having to buy a new exploitable title every time Sony updates the OFW, and having to choose between having PSN access, or access to my homebrew.

    • tinostar91

I still don’t quite understand the concept of having extra Vita just for the sake of (butchered down) PSP emulator when a real PSP is much cheaper anyways.

      • arcthelad

I’d guess it’d be for the sake of having another analog. Works wonders for playing some specific titles.

And definitely worth the extra bucks though.

        • Draven

The second analog is the number one reason. The sexy, sexy screen is a close second. heck, I won one of my Vitas out of a claw grab machine at an amusement park. Took three tries, and cost me three dollars.

          • Ratman

I agree. The Vita library is still small and my main reason for the wonderful work these programmers are doing, is to play everything in the beautiful screen with dual analogues. Also i couldn’t play on the PSP analogue stick without my thumb hurting after just a few minutes. On the Vita i am in heaven….somewhat haha. The difficult decision is how long will i be on the Custom Firmwares before the need to play a Vita game requiring an update, if one comes out for me. And secondly for me is if the PS NOW will affect this decision. I wonder.

      • Jackattack

Yeah, cheaper in every capacity. Looks worse, plays worse and is overall a worse experience.

Of course with the new Vita screens that gap is lessening but still. Most PSP games look gorgeous on the Vita. As it stands, a decent used PSP is only half as much as a used Vita. 50 vs 100. Not really that big of a deal…

  15. sniff mode

    the psvita hack is nearest

    • JCK07115

No, just a new kexploit for it (the vita); this is going to provide an emulated PSP custom firmware for the Vita. A native exploit for the vita itself is uncertain at this point.

  16. Buzzcut

So, is NA going to get a usermode exploit before this is released?

  17. JCK07115

    This made my day \o/

  18. SIM sk

Why do you hide your Vita when wesaw your MAC adress for lik 2 seconds xD

    • qwikrazor87

he’s hiding the game icon up top.

      • Faiz

So why do mac addresses matter,do they make you hacked or something? Ive always wondered

        • JCK07115

The mac address is a unique number that each device connected to any network interface is tagged with. It is similar but not the same as an IP address, similar as in they are both unique identifiers assigned to a device on a network but they have different functions. Yes, it can be used to hack your device but I believe it’s only if you are within the same local area network. Same as an IP address. A public IP address is useless to any hacker who is not connected to the same wifi network because it is that wifi network that identifies the IP address you are working with. A private IP address on the other hand (which can be gotten by typing IP address in the Google Search bar) is not to be shared; give it out and well hope the person you give it to is not tech intuitive. So it doesn’t really matter, unless you have a hacker friend you don’t know of (hehe :/). But I guess it became a stereotype when someone made a PSP tuto, someone else would do it and …

  19. I think Sony is cooking up something big for the vita

    • Ricky D

You’re mistaken. Sony has abandoned the Vita entirely except for indies and JRPG imports. It’s not an opinion or rumor, they’ve come right out and said they won’t be supporting it with first party games

      • hinata

You’re making it sound like a bad thing that the Vita library will have a lot of JRPGs instead of generic military shooters and interactive movies.

        • Jackattack

Except, you know, those JRPGs pretty much suck. It was one thing when JRPGs were inspired and different, always trying new things, but now it’s just the same ***. Especially if it’s Anime based…

          • hinata

Considering that Child of Light was the only good RPG I saw out of western developers in years I highly doubt the quality of western RPGs are any better.

          • Dmaskell92

JRPG’s paved the way. I have yet to play a JRPG that feels like another, or lacks in story. Kids today just want mindless, online, shooting games, and all without that useless, well written script I seem to enjoy more than human interaction.

          • Ratman

I’ve played one or two JRPGs and they are very well written most of the time. But sometimes i feel the style begins to look similar on a lot of them, not all. But they are amazing a lot of the time. I don’t really mind what genre the game is as long as it has a polished deep immersive story and gameplay worth playing that story for. If they can do these for the Vita i’m happy.

They have indeed stopped AAA titles for Vita for the most part but as someone who plays mostly on Xbox consoles, i don’t mind the PS1/PS2/PS3 remasters on the Vita. Gives me the opportunity to play some of the games i couldn’t play at the time.

Only time will tell on how the Vita develops. It gives a good opportunity to the Indie or less fortunate developers to get their games on this device which is nice, but we can only wait and see. That being said it would be nice still if Sony were cooking up something big for the Vita still, game wise or something else.

    • synapze

More like a mild simmer that never comes to fruition lol.

    • The Z

Yea, that one Icon change was HUGE!

      3.18 is a joke.

  20. ponxpunks

    boom panes!!!

  21. ss4gogeta069

Guys, I have to say major kudos. I’ve been waiting for someone with a lot more brain power than I to come up with an exploit so I can have eCFW on my gf’s vita!! You guys are awesome!! I know you don’t get the props you deserve. In fact, you get mostly a**holes *** so thanks a million for what you guys do!!!!

  22. ......

hoping apache overkill can be boot for tnv fw 3.15

  23. Danilo

Sorry but running Iso’s PSP games?

    • ErnieBall

yep, that and psp homebrews is all you get. Oh and Playstation Games of course.
Pretty awesome if you ask me.

      • Ratman

I agree, pretty awesome indeed. That’s the only main real reason i bought the Vita for haha. I’ve bought a few Vita games and the rest is to revive my game collection from Mega Drive, GBA, PS1 and PSP onto the beautiful screen of the Vita with the addition of the much more comfortable dual analogue sticks, with the Vita grip enhancement of course haha, can’t wait. It’s a shame we have to “hack” the device to get what we truly want from it, thanks to our loved programmers/hackers.

  24. hinata

Awesome, hope this time the US store has access to it since last release was just on the EU store and many missed out.

  25. g3dn

ppsspp for android is better with HD graphics compare to vita’s psp emulator. 😀

  26. CosmicTacoCat

wait. does that mean im currently able to use tn-v on my vita? what do i need?

    • ErnieBall

the exploit files are not released yet, also we don’t know which game it is.
I guess all we can do is wait.

  27. 65uy

Guys, I have to say major kudyuuos. I’ve been waiting for someone with a lot more brain power than I to come up with an exploit so I can have eCFW on my gf’s vita!! You guys are awesome!! 33. according hack teams

this end year finish psp support, and begin psvita hack homebrew

    • Ratman

That would be awesome. If Sony gave up and stopped patching games so that these developers could develop more for the Vita, i’d say we’d have a chance at this, although at the rate at which Sony are at it, i doubt it will happen anytime soon. It’s pretty difficult to bypass the Vitas native security and hack it’s core. Imagine the possibilities with the Vita natively hacked. I would love to play N64 perfectly using the Vita side.

  34. Binebina

So one thing I don’t understand:
Does that mean I can use a 3.15 VHBL Exploit with a lower firmware kExploit (let say Numblast)?

    • ErnieBall

      quote by mlc :

“As in anyone with TN-V below 2.02 is using the 2.02 kernel exploit, and everyone with TN-V below 3.01 but above 2.02 is using the 3.01 kernel exploit. Assuming there is a kernel exploit in the future, it should be able to work with any of the currently released VHBL exploits above 3.01 but below whichever firmware patches the kernel exploit. (as long as people port it to each game exploit, and the new kernel exploit isn’t dependent upon some bug that was introduced in a particular later firmware)”

  35. ivo

authorized codec gamesave us uno NPUH10027DATA00
in sutch a way that u craft a real psp emulator first
this time a psp emulator that actually emulates the gameplay
instead of only the uno wave and player names

then the next step is to step into the gamesave and craft it so …
so that it doesnt merly only result in a grey screen on some pc emu

then next couple of steps could involve winPe or linuxPe making a bootcd
    from chrooted psp emulator setup
    enjoy ur psp
    🙂

  36. AlexTwolf

I just read that djgodman has the exploit…not to judge or anything but this could really suck

  37. FlamingSnot

So lets assume for a second that it is a kernal hack and it is all very cool. If we compare to how long it took to make emulators for PSP how long could we expect it to take between finding a kernal exploit and making a PSVita based emulator? Or is this not how it works maybe? I know I know nothing and I am not contributing to the cause I just am hoping someone who is might have a VERY ROUGH estimate on that time line.

TY for replying even if it is “*** off”.

  38. Day

Anyone advise if I should stay at 3.15 or update to 3.18?

    • jonas

if you have already bought space invaders, then i advise you to stay on 3.15, because it might already been patched on 3.18

    • JCK07115

Considering to update your Vita if you’re interested in a kernel exploit is not even an option.

      Lower Vita OFW FTW!!

      • JCK07115

        #Don’t update!

        • Artha Zeko

How will I get this exploit if I don’t update then?

          • JCK07115

The exploit they are working on WORKS on 3.15, according to them.

Didn’t you read this part of the article,

“Our forum Developers acid_snake and qwikrazor87 have found such a kernel mode exploit, one that is still working up to firmware 3.15, which enables the usage of the TN-V eCFW at firmwares higher than 3.01.”

Come on, it’s right there. Although there is a possibility that the new update (3.18) didn’t / doesn’t patch any possible future exploit because the exploit has not been released to the public so Sony can’t have patched an unreleased exploit; fate6 and The Z confirmed this in the article I will post below. But still, better safe than sorry. Consider staying on the lower firmware.

            Here is the article:

okay. totally off topic…but where can i get that wallpaper of Squid Girl!?

    • Zik

oh, and update 3.18 is out…when did we skipp 3.16 and 1.17?

      • JCK07115

It was probably a major update hence, the jump past the lower decimals (.16 & .17). My Vita is dysfunctional for now so I can’t view the update details. I am so glad I turned off the auto-update upon restart option; I still have a chance at any kernel exploit for 3.15. I’ll probably check the update out on Sony’s website.

    • The Z

For the wallpaper (it is a PSP CXMB theme, you need a PSP or 6.60 TN-V for this):

http://zload.net/v2/archives/file/?id=2417672 (It is the “Ika Theme”)
