Minimur, WTH Happened This Week? Gaystation, EA Access and Playstation Now and TLoU: R news!
Yes, you read the title correctly, I did write ‘Gaystation’, which I’ll elaborate on later, what else did I find? Well news about The Last OF Us’s framerate, and also some news on Watch_Dogs new DLC, based in New Jersey, and something interesting about inFamous: First Light!
We all know what comes first though right?
New Game announcements:
Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham – November 11, also on PC, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the Wii U.
Damn, can that really be it?!?
Ah well, anything thats missed I’m sure you guys will let me know my mistakes. But Lego Batman is a pretty good addition to the Vita library…
So first up, there’s a bit of news about the infamous DLC, known as ‘First Light’ I guess it can no longer be considered ‘DLC’ as it is getting it’s very own standalone retail release, here’s the box art ad tweet announcing it:
NEWS! inFAMOUS First Light coming as a standalone PS4 Blu-ray disc in Europe 10 Sept 2014 #4ThePlayers PACKSHOT -> pic.twitter.com/4h59p3z1Dj — PlayStation Europe (@PlayStationEU) July 29, 2014
This is all fine and dandy, catering for the digi-phobes* out there, but how long will this game really last? maximum 4-6 hours? I couldn’t warrant a physical release for a game lasting that long, *cough* Ground Zeroes *cough*
No price has been announced yet for the physical edition, but my guess is that it might be £20 for the physical edition, and £15 for the digital, which is how much inFamous: Blood Trail was when it first got released, if I remember correctly.
Here’s the E3 trailer for the game, hopefully we’ll hear more about it at Gamescom soon.
This was announced via the EU twitter, and not through the US, so maybe the US will be missing out on a *highly anticipated* physical release of the game… heh. *Digi-phobes are those that have a phobia of digital games, and must have everything in physical format… Are you a digi-phobe?
GAYSTATION 4….. Okay, so before you think I’ve gone crazy and forgotten the name of the console I bought about 9 months ago (holy ***…) I haven’t. For a pride festival in Sweden, a retailer has auctioned off a specially designed PS4, it looks pretty snazzy, and being as my favourite colour is ‘rainbow’ I’m kinda jealous. Here’s the Playstation Gaystation in question:
‘Insamilngsstiftlesen’ translated to ‘Collection Foundation’ which I assume translates properly to Auction for charity, the retailer, Webhallen, gave this message for the reason of creating such auction;
To a lot of youths, gaming is a helping hand to escape from abuse, or worse in the real world. We at Webhallen are gamers in our hearts and souls, wanting everyone to be apart of the worlds fastest growing hobby, computer and video games.
The console went for 28,300Krona, which works out to be £2,450/$4,100 (currency converter)
I’m just waiting for them to create a ‘Sexbox’ now in support for… erm…. Prostitution?
*I do not mean to offend anyone with my comments in this article, the opinions are mine (Minimur12’s) and mine only. They do not reflect Wololo.net’s opinions and the view of the LGBT community.
Eugh, more Playstation news! This is actually about Little Big Planet 3, pre-order bonuses and a new announcement that it’ll be coming to PS3! I’m not entirely sure if they’ve already announced the box art, but here it is if you want to look at it:
The pre order bonuses were announced for US, and they seem to have gone crazy and had a separate pre-order bonus for every damn retailer.
If you would like to see them on the Playstation blog website, where there are better words, better article layout and more professional (but minus the Minimur and fun-loving humor….) take a look at it here: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/07/29/littlebigplanet-3-pre-orders-announced-plushies-dlc-and-ps3-oh-my-2/
Being as there are so many different bonuses, I’ll post the best ones that I think. So target’s have bonus is pretty cool, you get a Sackboy plushie. Unfortunately you don’t have the option of the different characters, If I had to choose one it’d probably be Oddsock, the dog-like character. Here’s what it looks like:
The next coolest thing would probably be a Dragon Age themed costume set, for each of the characters, you’ll get this if you pre-order anywhere, you’ll also get some Sony character costumes, like Delsin and Nathan Drake:
Okay, so the next best thing would probaly be the Playstation themed pack. You’ll get this if you pre-order from Amazon.com, unsurprisingly the characters are for Sackboy only:
The Last of Us: Remastered has been released now and it comes in the form of how they utilised the framerate for the game, the article comes from Complex, and is an interview with Neil Druckmann, he goes on to say how when the framerate was completely unlocked, it ran at 80FPS.
When [we] unlock the framerate completely, most of the time it runs at 80 [FPS] that’s unnecessary, because TVs don’t render at 80 FPS. So there’s still so much untapped power for us.
Pretty crazy, but it wasn’t all this good, he explained how in the testing stage, Joel could barely move and if you were to pull the gun out to shoot, bad thing would happed:
One of the earliest things Jason showed me was just [protagonist] Joel, barely moving in one environment, like a test environment, systems were broken. If you tried to pull out your gun and shoot the game would crash.
Programming is always amazed me, being as you can type and create things…. I tried it and it was crazy tedious, I commend anyone that can program to a high level. He also mentioned how some people were saying porting the game would be simple, but the programmers had to reverse engineer the engine, and rebuild in into the PS4, being as it’s a completely different architecture;
I’ve seen [players] make comments like, ‘You’re just porting over. Just hit the switch. Just copy the files over and you’re done, it’s actually very complex, reverse engineering an engine from the bottom up and trying to match a look on very different architecture, and then trying to push that look even further. Each one of our programmers could be a rocket scientist for NASA.
In fact, one of their programmes did work for NASA, Corrine Yu, their graphics programmer used to, and left NASA to create games… how awesome. If you fancy reading the full interview, head here: http://www.complex.com/pop-culture/2014/07/the-last-of-us-remastered-ps4
Playstation Now is, well, Now in it’s open beta phase, and has quite a few games available for rent, some people think the prices are a bit steep, and are being amended.
Here’s the currrent pricing options:
4 hours: $2.99
7 days: $6.99
30 days:$8-15
90 Days: $15-50
Most prices do range from $2.99 to $30, however, obviously the most recent games will be more, it is $15 for Darksiders at 90 days, and the slightly steeper $50 is for F1 2013.
Ps released an open beta walkthrough video with Jack Buser, PS Now director showed us the ropes. Here it is:

In the title, I mentioned EA access, something that was announced and hadn’t gotten much publicity/visibility.
It’s a $5 per month service where you have access to EA games, exclusively for Xbox One. It’s in Beta at the moment and there’s 4 games available to play,
The difference between PS Now and EA Access, other than only EA games, is that it isn’t a streaming service, it is actually a download and play service, so you must download the games in order to play them.
Prices are a bit simpler than PS Now, a fixed $4.99 per month or a seemingly well-priced $30 for the year. Considering this is EA, I’m pretty impressed.
The layout is pretty similar to the Xbox dashboard, which is pretty good, I’m interested to see how this will develop, We all know that EA have a megaton of yearly franchises, but surely all their games can’t come to the service? I wouldn’t see how it will be viable for EA to make a profit with such a good service….

What’s this? More Watch_Dogs DLC? It seems so. Announced/Teased through a tweet, this photo was posted along with a small quote…

This looks pretty cool, I’d like to know if you’l be playing as a new character or as Aiden, I haven’t played T-bone’s DLC yet, has anyone played it? Is it any good?
Weekly Blog Round-up
Zeitmaschine Reloaded: Time Machine software updated to support the 6.60 ME-2.2! – It’s crazy how there’s people still supporting the PSP, even though it’s ceased production. What an awesome little handheld….
PS4 System firmware 1.75 brings Blu-Ray 3D support, minor additional features – Well I’m pretty sure it’ safe to say that the PS4 is one of the most stable consoles out there, close to the PSVita.
These are the most anticipated Vita games in 2014 – Yes, you tell me what game I’m looking forward to…
There wasn’t a crazy amount this week, we’ve certainly had more in a week. There’s definitely going to be slower weeks than other though so hopefully next week will be busier, There’s no saying though, being as Wololo is actually on holiday so the approval process may be slightly delayed!
Have a nice week folks!
Little big planet ignore PS Vita 😛
I’m sure there will be Cross-Controller support just like in LBP2.
Infamous festival of blood? Never heard of infamous blood trail
It was for the original Infamous.
…just to say that Blood Trail is one of the missions from the first inFamous. Like MovingxTarget said above, the DLC is Festival of Blood. I think all this blood is getting you confused, man…8D
I remember hearing or reading during E3 that LBP3 would be on PS3 and PS4…
Either way, I’m passing on it, but still.
LBP is like the dumbest game I’ve ever tried to sit down and play. So yea, not gonna buy.
The appeal of LBP is in its great potential for user generated content. The base game is just a generic platformer but the editor is where it really shines. When you open up an editor like the one in LBP you turn your entire playerbase into potential content developers/modders. Its the PCs biggest appeal and its great to see games being that openness to non PC platforms. It turns a 60 dollar generic platformed into an ocean sized treasure trove of play hours playing other player’s content and even more play hours creating your own.
rekt
I know that console games are overpriced compared to PC games but PS Now pricing is ridiculous. You pay a full release price for a month long rental? Whatever they are smoking at their marketing department they should quit it.
Woops, correction, for 3 months long. Still silly.
