First! Well, I hope I can finally watch 3D blurays on my PS4 soon!

I guess the stability issues must have been pretty serious for them to bring out 1.74 when they had 3D BD playback planned the next week. Makes you wonder whether it was something exploitable afterall.

Possibly a test, to prepare for this firmware update. The best way to test firmware is a real world release, and that may have been just that. A release to make sure there’s nothing wrong before a “big” update, which is what I gather this is, I predict a wide-range media update is what this is, aside from 3D-movie support.

I’m not sure about this being a large update, if it were I’m sure we’d see a much larger increase in the firmware version.; 1.74 to 1.75 isn’t large, statistically if Sony release a large firmware update, we see this jump in firmware version. If this were going to be a large update, the firmware would jump to either 1.80 or 2.0.

Well, by “Big” I don’t mean fundamental changes to the OS, which is what a 1.8 or 2.0 would bring. Adding features, they’ve had .01+ updates that add some features that can appear as “Big” improvements, but not necessarily “Big” changes to anything to the PS4.

I expect some media functionality aside from just 3D, and that’s it. At least, they would seem to indicate there’s more to grab our interest than just merely 3D. I don’t consider that a Big update personally, but the changes I do consider significant and positive features while still minimal, and therefore “Big”. It’s all semantics though.

Well all I’m really wanting right now is DLNA support. It’s kind of stupid Sony left out integrating a technology they themselves developed. Just shows they’re trying to push their online media services, but hopefully they’ve received enough complaints to give us DLNA…

I guess more customization, support for more media formats and better organization of the home menu is just not as important as being able to watch things in 3D, you know the gimmick that wore off years ago, that was fun for about 5 minutes and doesn’t add anything to the PS4 experience, I can see how important is it for Sony to add it right after their “stability” improvements in 1.7.4.

One can only imagine what awesome most requested features the next Vita update would bring.

Finally, I hope 3D gaming will be avalaible soon so I can enjoy it with my 3D Vision monitor (VG278H).

The vita is almost dead I went to gamestop yesterday to trade in some old games and asked for a list of vita games coming out and they handed me a paper with 12 games on it up till 2016! Thats dead in my eyes I’m using 3.01 100in1 megamix TN-V9 and thats the only thing I do with my vita thats sad.

gamestop sucks then… because there are A LOT of upcoming titles till 2016

I bet you a lot of them are download only because they are indies.. but 16 non-indie games in 2 years? That sounds dead to me. I wish it wasnt the case, but i am simply convinced now..

        • hinata says:

Depends on where you are looking since there are quite a lot of non-indie titles coming out for the Vita in Japan, its only dead if you are expecting western support.

Good step by Sony. They focused on games in the beginning, & after they made sure everything is alright, they started with the multimedia features.
