Will there be a new release of a PS Vita eCFW in near future?
A few months ago Sony fixed the kernel mode exploit, that was used for firmwares 3.01 (and below), which therefore disabled the ability to run an eCFW at a PS Vita with newer firmwares installed.
Despite being fixed, there is a chance for another kernel exploit in near future!
A new kernel exploit for Firmware 3.15?!
Developer Acid_Snake said in his ARK-2 beta testing thread that they could potentially release another kernel mode exploit in the future, as long as they are satisfied with their ARK-2 testing results.
A new kernel exploit would enable the usage of an eCFW at the PS Vita firmwares 3.10 to 3.15+. An eCFW would enable the usage of self-created PSP game backups, the execution of PSP homebrews and the ability to use most PSP plugins.
A new kernel exploit for the firmware 3.15 would not mean that TN-V gets ported to this firmware.
Since TN left the scene, and was so “kind” to not share his sources with well-trusted and capable developers, he would have to port TN-V to firmware 3.15 himself. Otherwise there would be no (stable) TN-V for firmware 3.15, despite having access to a kernel mode exploit.
It is currently not known when or if this new kernel exploit will be released, but we expect to gather more information about this in the future!

Obligatory “first” comment 😛
I’m surprised I haven’t seen “Second!” here…
Friend don’t act like the psvita isn’t expensive because it is. Their was no reason for the propitary memory cards but greed. The Psvita 3G\Wifi is not worth 300 by any means.
“Friend” don’t like it isn’t cheap. Even at release $300 plus a memory $80-$100 32 GB memory card, although expensive alone, does not mark of to the same price as other devices that cannot do as much as it can in the realm of raw power. Now, it’s $200 and a 64 GB you can get, although not as easily as I’d like, for about $100. $300 for a device with 64 GB built in storage, even if it’s coming from someone like Amazon or Google, is more expensive then that total asking price.
The VITA is really cheap. People, like you, just don’t see it. I’d love some built in storage as well, but at least I can get the device and wait on the sales to get my storage. If it’s built in, there is no sale for your storage ever! It’s always at the premium price they offer. Built in storage would increase the standard price, and as a gaming platform that require a low-entry point to pick up sales, that doesn’t make business sense. Maybe after manufacturing costs can get cut down to around $100 for the VITA itself, they’ll add-in some built in storage with a $200 value. We’ll see. Idk. But one thing is for sure.
The VITA is NOT expensive(relative to every other device) for what it can do. No matter how you look at it.
Arggggh…
Correction:
…don’t [act like]* it isn’t…
🙁
“The VITA is NOT expensive(relative to every other device) for what it can do. No matter how you look at it.”
That’s one of the most insane comments I’ve ever read.
32g SD cards are less than $20.
It’s almost 4 times that for Vita memory stick.
If you don’t think that’s expensive, you must like wasting your money.
Total Noob can go F |_| C |< himself
stupid drama queen
hes the justin bieber of the dev scene
As exciting news as this is, kernel exploits still require that a game save exploit still be used, correct? If so, I probably won’t be getting in on this due to my money being too tight to spend on games I may never play after their exploit is patched.
I had the King of Pool exploit for 3.01, it was $3.
Sadly, money is so tight, I can’t even afford the dirt cheap games for exploits most of the time.
Sorry to hear money is so tight, that being said, how could you afford a Vita but not a $3 game?
Maybe he has no money now but had when he bought his vita, that’s it.
People can be as dirt poor as they want, but if they can buy a Vita, how comes that they can not afford a 2$ game?
If the Vita is too expensive to buy games for it, and you try to use this as a reason for using piracy, then you’re a scumbag and/or should’ve gotten a PSP/Go.
Not always true. You need to consider the international scene. Brazil has high taxes for about everything a commom and cheap game like lego series that costs about $20 take us the equivalent to $90 – $100 (no kidding).
So even cheap games would be the cost of new ones for u guys. Not to mention the fact that our average salary is way lower then yours and it may not be acceptable to spend especially in games that we already bought earlier. I sold my old psp. But kept the games. It doesn’t seem fair to spend a new fortune to buy games that I already have when I have important bills to pay and am short on money. I truly love gaming. And no way support piracy, but things are not always simple enough so we can judge it without excitation.
Actually here in Brazil everything is very expensive, the PS4 is sold for U.S. $ 1,770.00, the government’s fault and the sony, so sometimes I end up playing pirated games, but if it was fair sure playing only genuine, can not wait the exploit launch to play SNES emulator 🙂
And in any part of the world do not have $ 2.00 ~ U.S. $ 6.00, should not have a vita a psp would certainly be a better option
I guess, the next will be all about ARK, no more TN-V .. =)
Meesa be thinkin’ so. No ecfw? That’sa allll bombad. “Help us Acid_Snake and Qwikrazor, you’re our only hope”.
ARK-2 is an eCFW, it just doesn’t have XMB for now but it is an eCFW
this is still a good news after all.. ^_^ wish TN comes back and support the new kexploit with his TN-V.. *fingers crossed*
Borderlands is full of exploits
It HAS to be a Psp game…
You’re talking about bugs
bugs =/= exploits
>this clueless
is it no hope to hack psv mod?why always be said to hack psp mod
I don’t mean to be rude, but I don’t see how this is news worthy – I mean we know there are other kernel exploits in the wild, and we know acid snake has access to At least one on 3.15 – iirc he’s even admitted to having access to multiple. heck he’s even got it in his sig “ARK and TN-V on 3.15, problem sony?”
All he was saying is that there is always that possibility that one could be released
The news is relevant, because HE said HE (himself) could release one, not “someone will release one some day in the future, lol”.
can anyone help
am in 3.01 and i have fifa 11 i was able to run psp hombrew and iso
but acidentaly i erase the data base wich mean i delete my playstation account from my vita
now am stuck because the vita need a ps account in order to run whatever you have on your memory stick
even with open cm can anyone help me
what i worry about is not running ecfw on vita
but running about ecfw in all other emulators
(jpcsp epsp pspdisassembler ppsspp …)
as most brew wont run …
is ther a developer guide for psp for emulators …
?.?
it wouldn’t do much good.
emulators are often imperfect and miss little details.
this can sometimes lead to some games and homebrew crashing.
if you run a cfw through an emulator it’s even more likely to crash because it touches stuff no game ever would.
and a cfw doesn’t make missing/broken functions work all of a sudden.
Well its too early to release another kernel exploit, but im hoping i get one after ps now, tales of heart and type zero fan translation are released, or hope they release something unpatchable ecfw soon too…
PS Now won’t be publicly released world wide until summer 2015.
oh i love having psnow beta 😉
Do you know is some people are working on a exploit/hack for psvita (not psp emulator)?
I bought the psvita since first day but she’s waiting in her box… I bought one year of psp plus but i don’t use it…
Thanks
This post made my day! I only brought my Vita yesterday and found it I can firmware mod it yet. Great news thanks for sharing!!
i guess it will be named psp mph firmware loader …
hi,
been trying firmware loader … the eboot loads but does not install automatic or manually
and all it would needs according to devhooks eboot is a prx extend handler in the psp emulator for pc lol
allthough mph loads it fails to load manuall install flash0 flash1 files
only got this minor succes in ppsspp not in any of ther other emus …
what loads ur firmware ?.?
tnv :p
re: segmentation fault when trying to load
yay another full year before i can register to playstation now beta :0
Hummm. Leis think a while. I will pay to download a stupid game to play PSP games and sony release a next firmware to Block this. So, i must have a choice between play PSP or psvita online game since i alreadly have a PSP. No more PSP exploits for me. I wanna a native exploit. That is a waste of time. Psvita hackers, focus on the True objetive: PSVITA firmware!
THIS.
What is so difficult with finding PS VIta exploits? PSP homebrew is fine, and almost all of us have one, and already hacked… why not focus on Vita instead of re-hacking a PSP emulator inside a VITA?
You’re right, why didn’t we think about that earlier??? Just email me once you have a native PS Vita exploit, I guarantee you’ll be at the frontpage of this blog for a month
wololo please help me
if you know a tutorial for sig in with ps network account
i rebuild the database by mistake am on 3.01 am i used fifa 11 every thin was allright till i delete accidentaly when i went in services mode i been looking all iver the web and find no way can you point me in right directions
topkek/10
“What is so difficult with finding PS VIta exploits? ” This very statement just gives away all your ignorance. You have no right to *** about anything, when you clearly no nothing. It’s been explained a hundred times over why the PSVita itself is so difficult to hack at this time – The psp was an easy target, and still is. THe Vita is a much harder nut to crack – Sony has taken away everything that made the psp so hackable. The fact that we still haven’t gotten anywhere with the ps vita should make this even more obvious.
It’s simple, whoever gives me enough money to buy beer and rum for the Roland Garros final will get the kxploit and a signed picture of me in underwear.
Wow, that is simple!… hey! I think I found a native Vita exploit in my pocket! Everyone other than the true devs were right! It was easy….
So Acid, about them underwear pics… frilly lace or no dice!
**SPOILER ALERT**
This comment was laced with sarcasm against those whom think a native exploit is easy. I agree with Acid_Snake. However, I’m still awaiting the answer from him if the underwear have frilly lace.
Lmao!
Awesome =D
lol Acid_Snake hook me up with ur pay-pal Ima on it!!
btw does that come in full poster size?
for the right price I’ll make a full motion video xD
pls what the purpose of having a psp games on vita why notjust play your old psp… ifyu dont hav games in ps vite then get a job save up for your games… i dont support these ecfw things… id rather here news that the vita games can be actually hacked…. waste of time
Psvita games are limited and say good bye to PSP they stopped production anyway. =p
Right…I forgot anyone that has a PSVita also has a PSP…
no one cares about your opinion
At one time the scene of the inverse code was free, many kids are playing these solutions were funny, now thought only to capitalism and to bring out your own name. That’s why the scene has become slow is no longer wants to do something without acknowledgments or no money taken from donations.
Now all the reverser criticize those who use the software in order to play for free because now the games are at a very low cost, but the real criticism should also be seen that the reverser now without notoriety do nothing.
we built this for you and you are you taking him away.
***. This was always about fame, and sometimes money. I can’t recall a single time in the past 8 years when fame or money wasn’t involved in hacking
There is just one name I remember well from my old PSP times, and it’s Dark_Alex.
I was just a kid, and as far as I can remember, all CFW were free, and many updates came out pretty often… was because of that, that I remember such a Name.
Keep being greedy with new Vita CFW releases, and you not only will have 0 money but 0 notoriety.
Bring us a great CFW or Vita hack, and you will have it. I’m the kind of people that won’t pay for such a hack, but however I would indeed do a symbolic donation to those who bring it to us.
maybe becuz its simple hasnt been done yet or before …
that is a psvita exploit ?
plus its great as it is … buy one psp game … get to run any psp game available free …
the thing is to exploit psvita ther must exist an exploit in a psvita game
or a know method howto exploit a psvita game
and those are secure as of yet …
but if u builded it for me … then why do i feel so dumb like i got nothing to run on it …
maybe test some firmware loaders from the past or even bochs update to 660 with danzeff to run android or macintoch on my psp maybe with even a pc speedup net lib ofc lol
cheers dark_alex
You do realize that’s not Dark_Alex? he’s the most impersonated hacker in the scene.
Did you seriously just took a comment of “ivo” as a serious comment?
I mean, I don’t know who is it, but most of its comments are sh*t, stupid and non-sense talking.
maybe … but i was saying cheers like i was the him.
what about starting to exploit windows7 tutorials first …
i got a pc with timefreez on it …
somehow i do want to have an apps collection on it
but somehow timefreez restores the restore point every boot
so the answer is put my boot in timefreez and run some apps without loosing them every time i boot …
?????
I gave up on exploits after the Uno one, reasoning that i would have to forfeit it and update once a game that interested me came along. I was also very disappointed in the quality of the SNES’s emulation. Nevertheless, thanks for all your effort guys!
wii U had bad sells in the latest quarter, nintendo worry and coming soon will be in bankruptcy.
MK8 released.
Nintendo is good again, plus the games that will be anounced at E3
I guess I want a WiiU…
It took Sega two consecutive generations of bad consoles that didn’t sell and a console that sold well but not that well to go bankrupt, and Sega’s only big console was the Genesis, so imagine how much it would take for Nintendo to go bankrupt, considering they’ve always have a console that sells like hotcakes in every generation.
Please email me for the exploit again I appreciate your previous email on the recent exploit but sadly I got no Japanese PSN account. I hope this time it would be a North American PSN Game.Thanks.
Just follow the website like all of us do
Yes It will be Cos this topic has apear on this blog and its repeating 😀 we can preapere wallets online or digital 😀 its comming soon
Some of these comments just drive me crazy….. People, be greatful for the fabulous things we have gotten (all for free) from the devs here and those past greats like DAX. Couple of things:
I love playing PSP and homebrew on my eCFW vita. It’s such a better device (screen, form factor AND all of the retail vita features plus everything I loved about my hacked PSP. So please, stop your whining about how eCFW does nothing a PSP can’t do. When you figure out how to install an OLED screen on my PSP2000 and play FFX/X2 on it maybe I’ll listen.
Lastly, it’s clearly only easy to find a naive kxploit on vita. Everyone forgets or was too young to realize that FW1.00 on the PSP was basically wide open so day 1 (or near enough) devs had a TON of access to view the inner workings of the PSP. The Vita is a totally different story. Besides yifanlu’s great work with the user exploit was patched we’ve had very little insight into how the Vita works. Plus don’t think sony is stupid. They learned a ton about locking down a system from the cat and dog chase with the PSP and lesser extent the PS3. With the Vita they were able to apply all of those learning so to the Vita before it even launched! I’m more convinced than ever the only native kxploit we will see on Vita is if a disgruntled sony employee leaks keys or something. Given their financial woes it might not be too far fetched.
So in conclusion, stop ***. Use your brains. Read up on the history of this scene and praise devs like acid_snake and all the other past greats for giving us a reason to follow this site and enjoy our Vitas.
*not easy to find a native kxploit
**Not easy to find a native user exploit
rofl, just because TN left doesn’t automatically mean you have the right to have his source code.
How did we now which is PS Vita exploit
Mods – why did my longer post not get posted? Said it was waiting for admin review and then nothing? Just my second correction post?
posts that contain the word “first” are put in the moderation queue. It was the weekend so it took longer for me than usual to approve posts
I’ve had enough of this.
Have fun kids!

“Since TN left the scene, and was so “kind" to not share his sources with well-trusted and capable developers”
it is completely his choice to share or not share the sources. he was kind to support his tn-v till the v8.
well, do you say the same thing for the unshared kxploits too? you know they are not shared too.
I find it extremely amazing that just as soon as the scene is about to blow open to newer and greater possibilities with regards to TN-V, then the Dev falls away and cancels all progress. I understand one thing, time is scarce, money is scarce and appreciation is almost the scarcest of them all, but just when there is an exploit that is released having stated ” Unpatchable by Sony” (3.15) now is the single most NON-EXPLOITED spot for TN-V or ARK, I do realize the differences and the limits of each exploit in the sense that each has its own kernel access limits, but I find it strange that the LEAST patchable (Going on the history of these exploit, Sony isn’t having much of a hard time patching all of this, all they have to do is release a new firmware and force everyone to adapt an pray for further exploit loopholes..) I suppose this may be seen as ranting and pure nonsense, although considerably there has been PLENTY hardware and Software exploitation, ALL primarily touching on the PSP side of the VITA, I realize it is VERY easy to talk, although it would probably be in the best interest to start backing those prepared to start dipping their feet into the VITA Kermit Kernel, rather than try to stay ahead of Sony and try to get 9 years of hacks onto a new kernel, factor in this idea; the ps3, how long did it take to “fully” hack a ps3? 5 years? we are heading down the same path and we have yet to see a viable solution, looking down the hole leading down the old road we have already passed. As you have said Wololo, in order for us to get anywhere near the kermit we need donations of some kind in place to make it worthwhile hacking (Risks and all). To me those risks way back when PSP was stripped of its armour and HARD MODDED to create PANDORA, was Nerve-wrecking but paid off due to its GREAT potential, it gave us early access to PSP CFW, which eventually lead to simply Booting CFW straight from SAVEDATA/ MEM: ACCESS. Yes this has changed, yes it is highly complex, As was it back then, but if there’s a will there’s a way! and irrespective of what day that happens, the people who have been supporting devs by downloading and following them wholeheartedly is what still keeps your site alive today. We need all the support of those WITH the knowledge, and those with the WILL to continue on this BATTLE for Freedom to do with OUR hardware what we will! We have all paid the price, thus what we do with it is our own destiny. We are still paying that price and applying the knowledge that those who appreciate their OWN efforts share with the rest of us.
This is just my thoughts, I love the thrill of having to think about how tedious and elusive these different steps are in each exploit, it tickles me in the right places! If only I had the experience of coding/ reversing I would gladly contribute where I can, even if only in the smallest of ways.
Again, I think we need to take a hard look at history and do the math again:
– psp hacked almost day 1 w/ FW1.00 allowing folks to use unsigned code. Led to uncountable list of security enhancements plugging holes
– ps3 hacked 5 years into life cycle which also produced keys for PSP. don’t forget, folks at the time, including geohot, thought it was “unfixable” by sony. Guess what? PS3 has been basically locked down from 3.56 to today. There hasn’t been another exploit like that since fw3.55 for ps3 almost 2+ years ago.
– vita to be hacked 7-10 years in?? If we’re lucky? Considering sony learned many of its mistakes from psp and ps3?
in honest defense of a lot of the previous coders and big names in the scene… There are so many people complaining about devs getting into the work and moving forward.. Or asking why isn’t this person helping, or flaming a dev for leaving… Well people.. LIFE HAPPENS… It’s not all about games for most of them anymore.. I’m sure they still tinker, but are more busy living, working, loving, raising kids… They do what they can when they can, and some left with their fame (DAX) intact, and I dunno how old he was but I was writing tutorials for some of the first PSP apps back then… A lot of the devs were really young on this stuff…. And now their names are gone. I assume they just grew up, and moved on..
But fortunately we do have people that have carried on the tradition, and also a new crop of devs working hard now… It’s always only a matter of time… One way or another anything can be hacked//
o god seems that this year is going to be hacks only about psp on ps vita .. poor ps vita
How about not trying to run a dead system (PSP) on the Vita but runnig VITA custom firmware for ***’s sake, it’s about time now
