I would prefer playing most game with cinematic on TV (toukiden, god eater 2,killzone)

  2. monte carlo

Most definitely. One of the things I love about my psp go over the Vita right now. That and dualshock support should have been built in from the beginning.

I think the poll is too vague. I mean, sure I’d like Video out. But I wouldn’t pay more than $20 for a feature like that – which is probably an unrealistic price – judging by how much you say the original video out mod cost.

I mean, you could get 300 people reply yes to the poll, but only 20 actually go through with it once the cost is figured out. Don’t you have a general idea of what this could cost?

    • the3

I agree u will get alot of ppl that want it but look at it like vhbl if there is a release for a mini yes lots of ppl with do it cause its cheap but do one like monster hunter and most will just complain. I say if u want to do it for your own personal accomplishment go for it if not ur just doing it to give us a tut and a price guide and probably 25% of the yes votes just my opinion. But I do think its an awsome idea and will be a awsome accomplishment good luck to u and ur team

    That’s great!

  5. FireCracker

Jay Dr, i do not want to sound like a buzz killer, i would love to have video output but native from my vita, in your place i would do the project, if it sounds like a fun ride, not because there is people out there looking for this too

    Regards

  6. Mamimi

Cost isn’t even the first concern for me. The first hurdle is how much hardware modification it would need, and how skilled a user would have to be to actually get this to work. Once opening the case and the word “solder” is involved, 99% of us are done. I’m interested, but only if I’d just have to plug something into the Vita to get it to work.

  7. Impregnate

Would it be that TV out mod would be purchased, or would you only put up directions on how to do it? I’d pay $20 to buy a video out cable from you, but will most likely not want to attempt in building one myself.

  8. DS_Marine

Hmmm I think the name is wrong… Of course almost everybody would like to have the option of having TV output on vita, so..who would vote no? But will they buy it? that’s a completely different matter.
So maybe it could have been ‘would you consider buying a tv out mod’.. but for answering that you would need to have a vague idea of the final price, which I guess it’s not possible to know yet, and also it sounds a little too commertial to be here on Wololo.
So, enjoy your foreseeable +90% yes 😀

  9. It would be easier to just make a cable for the Vita’s accesory port then to just hard mod it

    • fatman01923

Yes it would except that a single accessory hasn’t been made yet and the fact that they took away the port with Vita 2000.

  10. Kira_Slith

I would most definately purchase a Video Out mod if the total cost is cheaper than the VitaTV is from PlayAsia (including shipping). I want PSO2 on my TV, if I can have video out on my vita (and support modders) instead of having a VitaTV then I’m all for it.

  11. ivo

    def yes but
WHAT ABOUT MODCHIPSETS FOR MIPSEL or vita ?.?

  12. z2

Hope, no hardware modding, vita opening is required for this

    😛

  13. AsDraS

it would be great to have hdmi out and i would like to help you guys to achieve this 🙂 i’ve been working a lot with electronic parts and i have some basic skills in programming.

  14. Dragar

Didn’t katsu achieve this with only cheap components found in most electrical stores? If so I sure there could possibly be a way to use he’s mod externally through either the usb port or the accessory port that is still unused. If katsu released information on how he achieved the video put I’m sure there be a heck of a lot of people working on it right now, and possibly even step by step tutorials.

    • fatman01923

Don’t believe katsu’s mod without schematics posted. Profit is not an excuse to release something, people need to stop trying to force morals on others. Tired of this trend lately in the hombrew dev sphere. Its a tease and nothing else.

  15. DavidTheTech

it will be good for people who dont have a ps3 or a ps4 that cant use remote play

  16. Shayne

U should want to look do it.

  17. razor

Definitely! I was wishing this feature even today, so that I could play Vita games on a bigger screen.

  18. Alex

Don’t get me wrong, it’s an excellent feat to accomplish, but isn’t the whole idea of psp and ps vita for them to be portables, played on the go whilst in a car or on a plane. Why revert back to the days of yore when we can already drive 88 mph and visit our grandchildren when they’re older…?

  19. Thedon247

    YEAH BOY!
I think any control over the vita usb port would be a very useful thing to have in general

    • dmaskell92

A USB mod would be to convenient. I’m sure Sony neglected to add video out solely to sell VitaTV.

  20. Cameron

Yes, I would support and even go as far as to donate to this concept and project.
    Also while on the subject.
Someone make a PS3 controller compatibility mod, surely since the vita has built in bluetooth this is possible?

    • Cameron

Come to think of it, would it be possible to use the mystery port as some sort of controller port?

  21. mangosteam

yes that would be very great portable with tv out you wouldnt ask for anything more lol

  22. madaoden

mod worked on psvita 2000 ?

  23. Techni

Yes please. I’m very disappointed at how much of PSP’s features were removed from Vita, and how much of Vita’s were removed from VitaTV

  24. DeathOfChaos

    I would!!!

  25. Giovanni

I am really happy to see you working on that interest and asking all the people around there to answer your question. Personally, I love the Idea of playing my Vita games on the big screen, but I don’t really think that the hardware mod is the right way to achive that. Sure, it is the only way by mow and it seems fun to work on it and help all the guys who want it now… but I’d say you don’t have to invest all this time in fact that I think the vita is about to get exploited/hacked in the next years. imagine you do all that work, and one year later, there is a software way to play on a big screen, that would be a bit awkward wouldn’t it? I’m just sayin’ it is too much work for something that could be solved in an much easier way 😉

  26. twiliteFox

So sad that the Vita has such wasted potential. If Sony had changed just a few things there wouldn’t be any competition from Nintendo except Pokemon Mario and Zelda. Video out would be ideal, but it would kill the need for cross play titles, and I think Sony would rather dominate the home console market more than the handheld market. I don’t know what their excuse is when it comes to backwards compatibility though.

  27. fresno

    Yes Wololo, I am interested.

And by advance, I’ll say Thank you.

  28. clambake

That is literally all I’ve been waiting for since the device’s launch. With the accessory port rendered useless, it just pains me as I see it as a wasted opportunity. Unless you’re a developer who’s reeeeaaaal close to Sony or you pay a ton for the existing video mods, there isn’t really an affordable, realistic way to have video out on Vita. Makes me sad, it does.

  29. Nazar_Ops

Too late, already ordered my modded Vita from the company that makes HDMI modded Vitas.

    • clambake

They’re not modded with HDMI, it’s mini USB, as stated in the article.
That’s the expensive method Jay would like people to avoid because it’s impractical.

  30. jacey1972

Hmmm I’m sceptical, wouldn’t the graphics suffer dramatically for gaming using a large screen TV. They cut out loads of shadows and detail on vita as you don’t notice on such a small screen. I hooked up my old ps1 to a 50″ TV to play wipeout 2097 the results were horrific. I thought to myself, I used to live this game the graphics the speed the music but the big screen killed it. So I hooked up the ps1 to an old 32″ CRT TV and hey presto I was taken back 20yrs it was great….
We need some way of using that accessory port as a modding tool to delve into the guts of the firmware in my opinion.
Maybe somebody could code a program in a CFW to send a picture signal by WiFi to your TV as most new TVs have WiFi….
But any move forward for us vita owners in the modding and firmware section is great news the vita has loads of life left in it yet it just needs opening up to us all rather than being on lockdown!!!!!

    • Nazar_Ops

The modded PS Vitas show great video out quality. So no, I don’t Think it would cause the graphics to scale down. Maybe a little, but not a lot.

    • Nazar_Ops

Well, the Japanese Company that is Selling the modded Vitas managed to do Video out without and the graphics does not seem to be toned down.

  31. ivo

what if this could be achieved way easier …
dont think with a hardware mod
    think software

so what u need is a pc via hdmi connected to ur big tv
then psplink2.271 and a nethost rewrite with a remotejoy rewrite so it uses net instead of usb.

    thank u very mutch sir
i do appreciate the wololo patches 🙂

  32. Artmaze

I’m a PS Vita YouTuber who records with a normal camera. It is very troublesome and it would help exponentially if you can provide a cheap and efficient way to get HDMI out on the PS Vita!

    Regards,
    Artmaze

Check out my youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/PsVitaArtmaze7
I post high quality gameplay videos and more!

    • Elliot

Please, no one likes the people who do this. Stop asking people to check out your youtube channel. in unrelated places.

  33. darktbs7

I doubt it makes much difference but personally, I couldn’t care about video out, or id have bought a console rather than a portable console. I don’t own a TV, or have a need for this. Its a vaguely interesting concept, but as there is already a video out mod, albeit an expensive and difficult mod, you wouldn’t be producing something that new. Not meaning to stifle the idea or anything, just one guys opinion, but yeah. If you want a TV console buy a ps4, for people who want to make gameplay videos, just don’t, they are terrible. Once again no offense.

However if doing this would give insight into the vitas hardware side more, then I am cool with it, hardware interests me a lot. Just not sure this would achieve anything that cool.

  34. xXToYeDXx

Yes. God yes. And with HDMI if at all possible with compatibility for some set top recorders like AverMedia or Hauppauge. I would love to record Vita gameplay for my youtube channel.

  35. LennyVita

This would be a great idea of course, and people would want it. I sure would. Is this something that someone would spend loads of time doing and then sony just block with an update?

Also the vita has an expansion card slot. Is this where the card would go? i sure would not rip apart either of my vitas to mod it for HDMI output.

This is a feature id want, also DS support. I hate having to use a sub account to just play my games with remote place. It is such a simple thing Sony can fix but wont.

If i could play my TN-V vita on the big screen and use a DS3/DS4 controller it would be fantastic. There is a product Sony already has called Vita TV, too bad it may never be available here to but.

But YES please make this and in card format, if it was able to be added in the card slot and work true hdmi out, id pay $20-40 at most, HDMI output is now common, Sony should have this feature themselves.

  36. mma_jedi

Nice! I want it for shows/moviez as much as game, well not az muchh az gamme, but u know.. good for when the younglingz come over on the wknds

  37. ponxpunks

yes we want psvita on TV….

  38. DongsMBM

    heck YES!!!
I was hoping the most that vita 2000 could have added video out functions, and it disappointed me greatly.

  39. jayko

It is the coolest things a vita can do. Go for it and you have our support. We sure can finance it.
