Holy *** man I’ve been waiting for this since like forever…

Unless you want to tell us how to get out of the debugging menu we get by launching the ELF file, we can’t use this to play PS2 games with.

And seeing as there’s no visible way out of the menu, it’s not possible.
Of course, I guess I’m obviously missing something, since you said yourself:
“you don’t have to use that once great, but now wretched DS2 to play your older games”

    Help?

FreeMcBoot is a softmod for PS2 memory cards that allows launching of homebrew and installing different files like this one.

      http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/

In my experience, it’s pretty easy to install. All I needed was a copy of 007 Agent Under Fire, a blank DVD and a credit card cut out to do the disc swap trick.

PS2 homebrew isn’t amazing, but there are fun things like a very functional NES emulator.

If you’re confused by the controls for The Last Of Us maybe you shouldn’t be playing video games.

  4. GuitaristMatt

For PS2 games the DS2 is much better suited.

  5. larger0o

I guess it’s just a POC. I’m not being able to get it to work with anything instead of that menu xD

    • mileleku

Same here, all of the News names kinda imply you can already use it in games. 🙁

If I load the .elf once, do the always recognize the DS3 or do I have to do this everytime the console goes off? I can’t test it now but since I got wireless microfones for SingStar, it would be great to use the wireless DS3, too!

  7. Awalsh053

Yes I would love video out on my vita been wanting this forever have 2 vitas don’t want to invest in vita tv

What is the need to use a DS3 controller on a PS2 system if you can’t use the wireless functionnality ? I assume that you can only use the controller with a USB cable on the PS2.

    • mixedfish

If you’ve got broken PS2 controllers, why buy new ones when you can just use what you have laying around.

  9. Frank

Yes I know but the benefit of the DS3 controller is to use it wireless. I also have 3 wired DS2 controller and 1 DS2 controller but if it was possible to use a DS3 controller wirelessly on the PS2, I would have done it.

And a wireless controller for PS2 sells less than 20 bucks on ebay shipping included.

For myself, this new is completely useless.

I want to record my Vita better !

    • mixedfish

Those wireless controllers for PS2 on Ebay are all fakes, I’d rather use a wired DS3 over any fake anyday. Fake controllers do not feel right.

      • Knofbath

You would need an extra long USB cable to beat the DS2, it was 7.87 feet long, so 6′ cables are kinda short. I think most of the cables I’ve got floating around are the 3′ variety, too short to use as a controller cable.

I’ve got an unopened DS2(picked up on clearance from Kmart) waiting in the wings, in case my other PS2 controllers finally *** out.

    • larger0o

This is not useless. Remember that PS2 controller didn’t include triggers, and PS3 ones do.

This is gonna be pretty good for PS2 diving games.

If by “would you like video out on your PS Vita?” do you mean “would you like to be able to plug it into your TV to play your games on the big screen?” Then heck yes, I would! Please tell me how to do that. haha

  11. Kira_Slith

A Video out mod would be Great! Especially if it is HDMI or atleast replaces the mystery port on top of the Vita. both would be awesome. Cheers! P.S. Dual Nand mods would be sweet too! I’d drop $200 for both in an instant, no dowbt.

  12. reprep

ds3 is nearly the same as ds2 anyway, but ds4 support would be great.

  13. BakaOsaka

Sweet! Will this also work with third party controllers such as arcade sticks?

  14. DeathOfChaos

Now all they need to do is write an ELF to get bluetooth dongles recognized, then we can get these working via bluetooth with the PS2. I wonder how possible that is.

  15. z2442

A port to the original xbox maybe?

  16. Gonzilla

I hope Ps vita video out isn’t a joke, beaouse i would love to have video out, Btw if big HDMI Doesn’t fits on Vita you can always use Mini HDMI 😉

  17. Darktbs7

By video out, do you mean the one from that japanese website from agesssss ago? the usb port one?

  18. Darktbs7

Because I posted it in the forums ages ago and it got locked for “been posted heaps of times”

  19. Darktbs7

Id be more interested to find out your involvement with koala.

  20. Ian

HDMI FOR THE WIN. What better way to stick it to Sony than to give us the thing that they promised then stole away. Bastards. I sooooooo want hdmi out, and I would pay a reasonable fee to be able to reliably have that BASIC Feature.

  21. Elliot

I am so excited to see that video out mod for the Vita.

  22. MadZiontist

“The above picture shows that you can use your DualShock 4 controller on your PS3.”

Um, no it doesn’t. It shows a PS3 and a hand holding a DS4. XD

  23. Cookies

I’m guessing this is just a beta… Not complete yet I guess.

  24. Mo

Can someone make a video instructing us how to get this to work on ps2? I got the files on my usb but not sure what to do afterwards. Thanks

  25. Omar

Time to dust off my ps2 and get playing again!

  26. Omar

    Hey all,
So I’m no expert in these things, I’m a simple gamer, I buy games and I play them. I don’t know how to hack or mod or all of these things. So can someone please give me detailed instructions on how to use DS3 on PS2. I don’t get the Read Me.
    Thank you in advance.

    • lol

fak the sony company’s owner’s wife and he will give u free wireless ps2 controllers it is ez

  27. joe

I have not seen anywhere that this has worked with any game or that anyone has installed this. Only one person says they are stuck on the testing screen. I can only get to the testing screen for a bit before the screen freezes. Is there any new info on this?

  28. I read this paragraph fully regarding the comparison of most up-to-date and earlier technologies, it’s
    remarkable article.

  29. Micky Kusanagi

Fantastic!! I know somebody has already asked, but does this work with Dualshock controllers only? Or 3rd party stuff too? I got a PS3/4 Real Arcade Pro coming in the mail and I’d like to know in advance if I’ll be able to use it on my PS2.

  30. guisadop

Except it can’t, lol. Everything has to be recompiled to use a Dualshock 3, and games are probably a no-go.

  31. Ephemeral

Has anyone tested if this works in games? If so, is a wired connection required?

  32. Stefan

It’s just a test menu. If someone were to make a ps2 game that supports these libraries, then it might work in game. It was incorporated into a gameboy emulator, but that’s it as far as I know.

  33. rudram saraf

i can find ds4ps2.irx and .elf file help me

  34. thefox

I have tried using this on my ps2 with my ds4. No luck.
