  1. Thank Gawd i got them downloaded and bought them for 99 cen’ts when i did. Its f’ed up that the white list was a error but WHY EVEN LIMIT what games can and cannot be downloaded, that’s just so stupid. The games work and look fine on the Vita.

    • anonanon

It’s clearly for legal issues. The fact that a lot of games are not available for download on the Vita, is because the publishers are not allowing sony to provide them. let’s not blame Sony here when it’s clearly not their fault.

      • Yeah, its a real shame tho but i guess some of us got lucky. I was able to get Capcom Collections, Legend of Dragoon, Both R-Type games and all three Spyros. The only real gems imo i really wanted on the vita so i don’t have to lug around the PSP. Was worth the short window.

I hope eventually they all get white listed when the PSP is 100% Phased out and ONLY then maybe?

      • psp411

Stupid hater, get out of this site and the internet please 🙂

        • arz02

And you can’t demand Sony because there’s on it’s terms and conditions that you agree to not demand.

It’s a shame that sony get back all of those games, i couldn’t download even a demo.

Vita es una consola increible, aun sin Crash.

      • lolwut

        +1000

      • asmith906

I don’t understand why Spyro and Crash work in EVERY other region but on North American Vita’s. SCEA sucks

      • Jackattack

        ***.

It’s THEIR platform. A lot of it is THEIR rules. THEM wanting extra money. Or them being ridiculously ***.

Publishers are slightly at fault, but most of this is Sony’s doing. And they don’t have to block being able to transfer to the VITA from the PS3. Which is what they did before this “glitch”. I don’t know if they still do, but that is where it gets to even more ***.

If a publisher won’t play nice with multiplatform releases, remove the game. Period. don’t let them run over you and better yet, don’t charge them extra for a convenience for THE CUSTOMER.

        • Lennyvita

I hear ya…. Sony does what they want. they don’t care for the customer, only the almighty $.

    • Rodney

Actually what I did was downloaded them directly to my PS3 console and then a hardwired feed direct to my psp. I was able to get those games added. But I hate that the games I purchased in gamestop and amazon wont work unless I find some hack to download some psp Emu of some kind…

  2. rowjack1993

well, that sucks, but oh well, the only PS1 game i want on my VITA isn’t even on the AUS PSN

  3. ChrisHighwind

Well, I’ve still got the Crash and Spyro PSone games on my Vita, and I’m not going to delete them. For some reason, I kinda doubt you’ll be able to transfer them from your PC to your Vita either.

    • ChrisHighwind

Still, figures that the one time they do something right for the Vita, they didn’t intend to do it.

  4. BigBossJC

I really don’t understand this. One of the best things about all of the cd based systems was the fact that they played old games. When I got my ps2 I was so happy I could play ps1 games because I then already had a library of great games (mgs1 which I STILL play by the way lol) Then I got the ps3 launch version and had a MASSIVE library of ps1 and ps2 games to play (mgs2 and mgs3 which I STILL play).

Yet for some reason in recent history they seemed to turn away from the idea of allowing loyal customers who have been with them for years to use content they have already bought. Sadly it just seems to be greed. Like soon enough it is said the ps4 will be able to play old games BUT we will have to buy them again off the psn store.

Basically the harder they make it to play their old content the easier it is for them to recycle the stuff and keep making money off it. Backwards compatibility should be the standard not something we have to hope and pray for or wait for some mistake at Sony like what happened here.

    • lololow

So.. Do you want a CD reader to play your old games on Vita?
      WHAT. THE. ***?

      • BigBossJC

I was making a general point about sony not the vita. And its not hard to dump a cd or umd onto a memory card and make it play. Not having a cd slot it not a excuse for very little backwards compatibility.

        • mlc

To be fair, they really wouldn’t want to encourage people to dump games with their PC due to emulation. I’d personally like some sort of DRM proprietary software solution that reads your disc, verifies it, and then gives you a voucher to download it. (even limiting the number of devices more than a normal purchase would be a massive improvement over their current system)

It seems entirely possible that there is no way to verify each unique copy of a game, though. At best, maybe there is some aspect of that original disc that couldn’t be reproduced by a consumer grade burner. But that doesn’t prevent people from renting or borrowing games, or perhaps even faking input from a CD/DVD drive, so Sony certainly wouldn’t take the chance when they already know that no one bought PS1 games expecting to play them on portable consoles 10+ years in the future.

Basically, companies aren’t built to be kind or generous, and there are likely some implementation issues that would make this a big headache and money sink for Sony. (it’s actually a good argument for “Club Nintendo” – I think that’s what it’s called – style game registration, though it’s pretty obvious that the companies still won’t give away future access if they don’t have to)

You make a good point, though. The PS3 situation was probably the biggest slap in the face: If they really wanted to discourage it, they could have left backwards compatibility on those models, or even sold a more expensive model that maintained that feature when they were discontinuing it. If the system has a physical reason to maintain compatibility, like the Wii, PS2, or early PS3, then I say go for it. (Xbox/One too? i dunno about it) But allowing full backwards compatibility with no monetary benefit (other than systems sold, if that’s an advertised feature *COUGH ps3*) is an enormous waste of effort from a profit standpoint, especially if you’re just opening yourselves up to huge losses. If everyone can easily get a fake or temporary copy of all PS1 and PS2 games, and play them forever on each of your new consoles, then you’re likely costing yourselves a huge amount in new game sales. New games would be competing against actual “masterpieces” from previous generations, including the entire rest of older console’s libraries, so only the best or most innovative new games would be likely to sell well.

        • gunblade

Possible if u think about the old psone had a back port jus probly have to hook the back port of the psone to like the ps vita usb and game port. but I guess my thought is that Sony knows about softmodding and and well Sony not making much money on old game disk fo the psone so Sony CEO guess making money off of digital copies the best thing. iam all it’s five dallers fo a psone game and fifty dallers for a new ps3 and ps4 game. What weird is how Sony ps4 wen came out there were put together like crapy so well that business. shity thing was if Sony was about making money wy is the vita tv only avalible in Japan and Sony a Japan company well not good fo Japan economy i would think but then Sony CEO end up getting me a bit *** and well I was about to watch the nikkie stocks drop again so well that’s business then seems like Sony CEO ended up lossing more money.

      • alpmaster

No what i want is to be able transfer the games i bought on to my Vita that i know is capable of playing =p

  5. Blue

And this is why I don’t like digital-only copies of games. In theory, it’s great, but you REALLY don’t own the game, and it can be taken away from you at any moment.

    • mlc

Pretty much. Unless they’re charging significantly less, which becomes impossible due to used prices, it is a huge rip off. Even ignoring the fact that you are paying an inflated price for the storage space, which would otherwise be included in the ~$9.99 to $59.99, it is ridiculous that they will sell an impermanent digital copy and then limit your access to it. You are even forced to use inefficient DRM-riddled software to make backup copies, which makes it far more likely that their falling out with a content provider or abandonment of their service will harm you. While it might make it more difficult to permanently “lose,” it still requires more time input and effort to store “securely.” Unless you follow Sony’s news very carefully, it’s not like they’ll inform you that they’re planning to remove your access to your purchase.

    • drd7of14

How are those physical PSP copies helping you on your VITA now?

Digital copies are the only thing that can be easily transferred in the future. It is linked to our account.

When you buy games, even physical, you buy a license. That’s how software works. The only difference is, you need a medium on which to install it. Either that license is the physical disk itself, or the digital ownership. Both are licenses. You don’t own anything. It is just a method of distribution. And that physical distribution is unique to that unit’s parameters. If you buy VITA cards, for the next portable Playstation device( if there is one), don’t expect them to be compatible.

Digitally, there’s always a chance. And with SONY, there digital license systems, are way better than the physical. For Nintendo, how they work, or Apple…I would disagree. Their digital distribution really sucks.

  6. theluxx

    DAMN IT!!

I had Phantasy Star Portable 2, Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Suikoden on my account that I needed to download onto my vita 🙁

  7. mlc

Shouldn’t they give refunds to people who were unable to download or backup these games? Sony’s own storefront advertised them as Vita compatible, and allowed people to purchase them for that purpose. Anyone who wasn’t able to download the games in time should probably call for a refund of the purchase. (you could probably do this with a credit card as well, depending upon how much your card company likes you, but Sony will just hold your account and all of your games hostage… lol yay capitalism)

  8. alpmaster

Sadly i will probably never have Crash Bandicoot 1 2 and 3 on my U.S vita. Also i got Command and Conquer on my U.S Vita before Sony fixed it =p
But i will have them on my E.U account =D

  9. bryan garcia

i don know ,how but i buy ctr for the ps3 , and now i can play in my vita , this shows in my downloads list, how this could happend

  10. Well looks like Sony’s E3 “surprise” had a slip up

  11. pitu

all the games are back no?

  12. darktbs7

Meh, Sony are scum either way. Allowing backwards compatibility doesn’t hurt sales, as long as they produce decent native games for the console. Until they can sort that out they just make any cent they can out of any old ***.

  13. cavinrocks

man this sucks, good thing I got the demos on my vita/cma pc.

  14. gamr13

I got one of my games anyway…But it’s not something I’ll keep. When I saw this post I literally just get the urge to f**k away the Vita, It’s just the biggest load of *** and waste of money, I don’t own a PS4 and I have absolutely NO intention of getting one ever due to $ony being absolute f**king c***s to their gamers, RESTRICTING THEM of games they might have played during their childhood or even games they’ve played but the consoles have broken and/or discs being scratched. $ony have lost me as a customer, and I’m guessing I’m not alone on that one, The majority of my games library I cannot download, so I have to use my PSP which has a cracked screen leaving 3/4 visible parts to see. I’m sticking with PC, This gen and the previous gen (PS4, XB1, PS3,XB360) Was the worst that I have lived in, The older gens did it right! The newer ones are locked too tight!

    • monte carlo

I agree. I literally have hundreds of games in storage from over the years for all consoles. It is nearly impossible to find good used controllers for some of these older systems and I am picky about my controllers. This and the hassle of hooking up an old system to play a game or two for just a few days makes it very convenient to have backwards compatibility for me but seems to be a low priority for Sony. Very glad I got my backwards PS3 when I did not knowing they would remove those features from newer models. I also will not be spending any more of my money on new systems as they do not have my concerns in mind and do not cater to my gaming wishes. Plus, you did not mention the extreme amount of hardware failures in this last generation for all systems. When I have to buy more than one system from a company in a single generation, it is time to call it quits and look at P.C. It is indeed a sad state for gaming when my android phone is a far better option for my retro stuff than the consoles. At least the Xperia Play has a gamepad even though it is underpowered.

      • gamr13

While the old generation had a lot of hardware failures, I suppose I was lucky in a sense I never experienced them which is why I had left that out, I had an 80GB PS3 with no backwards compatibility and seeing that on the side of the PS3 box was just the last of it for me, I started to look into gaming PCs that would work well for gaming, emulating and general usage, my current setup gets me around 60-70 FPS on PS2 games which I am quite happy with now my PS2 is broken, So I use my PS3 controller on it via bluetooth as I have 4 others. My Galaxy S3 I use for emulating NES, SNES, PS1 and so on, using another PS3 controller. So in summary, this gen and last gen have completely turned me off of console gaming entirely, mainly due to manufacturers focusing on hardware specs for consoles and not the software for them, Reason why the Vita was a flop *Lack of games, but a poweful-ish handheld* while Android phones may be underpowered they can still have an impact on gaming, dare I say Flappy Bird was a really quick spreading game world wide whereas with console games if the graphics don’t look perfect and push limits they’re automatically tagged as being bad or not as great.

    • drd7of14

      “…the previous gen (PS4, XB1, PS3,XB360)”

      ?????? What…?

  15. yo

you cant buy syphon filter in Eu spain where are these captures from??

  16. Faiz

WOLOLO PLZ MAKE A EXPLOIT,ONE LAST EXPLOIT AND I WILL NEVER ASK AGAIN PLZ,(ive never asked before)

    • gamr13

Making exploits is not as simple as “oh look a game! Maybe I can post these files and bam! TN-V/VHBL” Not offending you but it takes a bit of time and the Vita scene is quite slim, from what I’ve witnessed.

  17. gunblade

so like i jus had to update my ps vita and download some games i was *** for a bit might take it out on sony.com and psn.com so like watch tv if u cant play dust 514 again on the psn guess sony got more maintance coming for psn.

  27. J

What a bunch of idiots, you can’t blame Sony for licensing issues. Don’t be mad you can’t exploit the system anymore, all titles are clearly marked.

    • alpmaster

Oh what’s going to happen to me shame shame I was able to transfer Common and Conquer before they fixed it does this mean EA going to sue Sony?? :/
Please stop lieing to us saying these games are not compatible for the system because they are :p

  28. moha

i was lucky , i got them all , and i did a backup on my pc ,
waiting for the next free demo exploit , i think it’s just a challenge from sony to test their new exploit blocker on 3.12 ,

  29. Sarge127

Heh! Glad i got Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops Plus and Phantasy Star Portable 2 in time, i was jumping with joy and very happy… <3 Those games got me through high school.

what about running vita firmware on a pc ?.?

    cheers ivo

  31. jigaHbooboo

Fu Sony and you dummies saying its a licensing issue.
Its not they already paid for it thats why the game would still be stored on Psn period. Sony will keep
on with these moves until customers really take a stand and truly make a change
Hackers are too busy to do so but that does not mean you a person can amount as many to make change. This generation is lazy i regret being born around these laid back times.

    • jake

The owners of the games wanted it published only for a specific console.

When PSN started it was just for PS3 (and PSP?), so publishers of the game only had agreed to those consoles.

Vita pops along. Sure, it CAN run those games, but the publishers didn’t agree to letting sony sell to PSV. So they can’t. Has nothing to do with Sony at all.

(by the way Crash is owned by Universal not SCE aka Sony…)

      • yomudderskuntstinks

If that was true dipshit then why do every other territory have them, every single game fukkface!!

        • RSRazer

Firstly, the language was unessicary. that was quite rude. as for the resoning, yes, it is licensing issues. just because it is avaliable in a certain region doesnt mean that is is for another. different regions, different laws. from what i have understood, the games that you cannot get on the vita in the us is due to licensing limitations. the laws in the us and the wording of the license prevent immediate release on the vita or even the ps3 for that matter. however, many of the same games in other regions have the license worded differently, or laws in place that prevent such strict regulations. while that part is not sony’s fault, it still stands that sony has lied to the customers blatently calling the games incompatible. it would have been more respectful had they simply told the truth. so the reality is that both parties are at fault here. Sony lately has been too focused on security and anti homebrew. better yet, its not the homebrew so much as the piracy. the problem is people keep looking for a kernel exploit for full access, instead of simply sticking with non piracy homebrew measures. sony has to be the bad guy and patch these exploits as they provide full open access eventually if left unchecked. if anything, dont blame the company, blame the *** that cannot behave. with great power comes great responsibility. If the need to play nes or atari on a device is so great, there are plenty of cheap android phones that dont need special hacks to do such. $50 can easily get you a used android for that purpose. though this generation has become so stingy that the “inconvienence” of carrying around a small phone to play your retro games < hacking a console (when in reality, many o the *** that get pissy about shuch couldnt even hack it themselves). That is the very reason i do not intend to release my progress on a possible VBHL exploit for the us 3.15. if you want to do so, figure it out yourselves. If things go through, I will keep attempting this exploit in the future and may eventually release it if i freakin feel like it. This scene is the worst in comparison with the ps3 because so many people i see commenting act like they are entitled to an exploit. if your that entitled, try reading Wololo's tutorials about finding it yourselves. your obviously smarter than the hackers and sony themselves and obviously understand the laws and everything surrounding such.

  32. jake

Also talking about *laid back times*, you could always get yourself an older console that the people of whatever-time-you-wish-to-be-in had.

Wanted to be born in the 90s? Go ahead and buy a PS1 then…. no not a pre hacked PS3 which already has a hdd and watevs, GET A PROPER PS1 AND HAVE A GOOD TIME DISCSWAPPING (assuming you get ur hands on one)

People these days act like the hacking scene aren’t doing anything lol remember PSP exploits gta back in the day. We were lucky to get one of those in a year lol now they came out every second week and you guys still complain?

  33. BlackFire27

    Needs more llamas.

  34. RSRazer

obviously, they more or less allow anything to be posted. Seriously, you should take some classes in politeness and ethics as your approach to a comment is absolutely rude. please refer to my other reply to you for understanding as to why the games are not avaliable in the us. I do agree that the us has nasty laws in place, but the game pulling is not a specific allowance under these laws, but a right by sony of north america due once again to licensing. some more modern age laws do need to be written as the balance of power is actually pushing the border of unconstitutional and unlawful, however sony as a whole is not to blame, but ultimately the end consumer who refuses to do anything about it. since i have my personal preferances, my personal library, and dont mind taking 5 minutes to hook up my older consoles, this whole backwards compatibility, homebrew, piracy, and all that is stupid. part of the reason the security is so tight is due once again, to the jerks who cannot buy their own games, but instead have to push the bar so far they pirate everything. Sony has a lot to fix, but they are trying to keep a business going. if things get out of hand, no more sony. microsoft and nintendo is already suffering because of their business decisions, and sony is having to check their steps to ensure the same doesnt happen to them. Personally, I am a nintendo fan before any other company. I abhor microsoft. sony fits right in that middle of neutrality, and i would call them on their *** before anyone else (as i would nintendo. *** were they thinking upgrading the wii a bit and claiming it as a next gen?). seriously, try to be a bit more respectful and actually take time to research the laws of different regions, and the things the business in question must follow in order not to be shut down. a good example is a law in korea or china (i forget where exactly) that prevents the consoles from being released as “game consoles” and makes them sell at a much higher price. different areas of the world have different rules. the same goes with language. the word *** in america is offensive, but in france, it means a cigarette. take time to research things before spitting out profanity to others who dont deserve such.
