Borderlands 2 Vita sells on May 6th
Today was a big day for Iron Galaxy Studios; not only did the studio unveil a new character for their two button fighting game Dive Kick but their Borderlands 2 PS Vita port also got an official release date. Let’s not beat about the bush, mark your calendars for May 6th because just under a month from now Borderlands 2 Vita will be available as a digital copy. May 6th is also the day that the new and “improved” PS Vita slim will be available in the US, sold as a bundle with aforementioned Borderlands 2 and a 8GB memory card.
Borderlands 2 – Limited Edition – PlayStation Vita Bundle
The Borderlands 2 Vita bundle includes;
- The New PS Vita Slim PCH 2000 (WiFi only, improved battery life and
LEDLCD display, smaller touchpad on the back). - A voucher code with which you can download the digital version of Borderlands 2. This will give you access to the full game and six of the Borderlands 2 DLC packs; Captain Scarlet and her Pirate’s Booty Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, the Psycho Character Class, Mechromancher Character Class. Vault Hunter upgrade pack 1 and the Collector’s Edition Pack
- An 8GB memory Card
If you would like to pre-order or buy the Borderlands Vita bundle feel free to use this affiliate Amazon link (Borderlands 2 PS Vita bundle)
doing so might enable me to buy me a soda and it won’t cost you anything extra.
If you already have a first generation PS Vita than you might want to buy Borderlands 2 Vita separately (Borderlands 2 physical version).
PlayStation customers who use the North American PlayStation Network Store can either buy the digital version of the game on may 6th or wait for the physical copy that will be in stores starting May 13th.
Borderlands 2 cross-save compatibility with PS3 version
When the Borderlands 2 Vita arrives the PS3 version of the game will get a patch, enabling cross-save for this title between the two platforms . Players can then send their save back and forth between PS3 and PS Vita via the cloud to take their progress on the go ( a PS plus subscription isn’t needed to make use of this feature ).
Trophy hunters will be glad to hear that Borderlands 2 will have a separate trophy list on PS Vita. Trophies earned in either version should automatically unlock on the other.
Will the Vita port be good?
Frequent visitors of this blog might remember my hesitation regarding the PS Vita port of an AAA game like Borderlands 2. To summarize, in my opinion Vita has had enough rushed ports of big name franchises and for the sake of Vita owners I certainly hope Borderlands 2 lives up to the expectations. I feel like a large part of how Vita will be perceived in the immediate future rides on the success of upcoming Vita titles such as the God of War Collection, Borderlands 2 and Freedom wars. The team at Iron Galaxy is still hard at work optimizing the shoot ‘n loot game for our favorite handheld. A month can be both a short and a long time depending on how you look at it (do you feel the agony that waiting for this game might bring you?). With Quality Assurance still ahead of the Borderlands 2 Vita port technically speaking anything could happen, although at this point it is more likely that the game will be in stores on time than that a sudden delay will be announced. Let’s just rely on craftsmanship of the folks over at Iron Galaxy and assume we get a well polished Borderlands experience on Vita.

You’re late
It’s my bad for publishing it a bit later than I could have. The article was ready a little while ago.
Unless this game really lives up to the console version I doubt I’ll be purchasing it. I own it on pc with all the dlc and I ps3 courtesy of ps+. So I see no reason to purchase a sub par version of the game just for portability.
I think they kinda sc*** up when they gave it for free in PS+ … now I have it already played.
is it just me or the frame rate is very low?
It does seem a little choppy at spots but that could be more because of youtube rather than the game itself.

WHAT WHAT WHAT NOW IT”S LED INTEREST OF LCD???
It won’t cost you 200$ to get a replacement lcd and it also cost them much less money.
Although a typo still a BIG mistake on my part. You are correct the Vita slim has a LCD display.
internet please don’t feed me to the fish
It’s LCD.
Yeah, original was OLED. This slim model is LCD
Normally, it wouldn’t interest me too much. I would just play it on PC, anyway.
But as I got Borderlands 2 on PS3, via PS Plus and this supports cross save, I’m actually interested in this. I think I’ll pick it up at some point, because I already have the PS3 version and love to use the cross save feature.
I’ve heard that earlier versions of the game were not quite finished yet and had performance problems, but I suppose, it’ll be a good port at last, as 2K spent a really long time on it.
still no europe update?
So, will this work on Vita’s that are on 3.01? Or will I need to update?(As I keep saying, I’m new to this hacking business, idk how this stuff works lol)
You will probably have to update.
From my limited experience in this matter you can play games that have online features on a lower fw for Vita…just put your Vita in AIRPLANE mode and restart, then it’ll let you play w/o asking you to update. Works for me on UNIT 13.
Ohh, okay, that makes sense. I’ll give that a try, thanks!
He’s mistaken, all the games have a minimum firmware. Borderlands 2, as a game that isn’t out yet, probably will require above 3.01. Presumably it matters when the game was actually “finished,” though, so we might be lucky and have it require 3.01. I’d guess higher, though.
Here’s a list of games and their minimum required firmwares from the forum.

This comes out the same day as the God of War Collections HD PS Vita remake 🙂
The link to the bundle is the same as the physical version. Or isn’t the bundle available anymore?
Honestly this what i feel will happen with the ps vita 2000, since the ps vita 1000’s release sony has used memory card pricing to make up for the lost of profit, but now since the ps vita 2000 is a LOT cheaper to reproduce, they’re gonna keep the $200 price mark but then drastically reduce the memory card prices. Yea i called it lol
you have too much optimism. they’re going to pocket the additional profit
I will buy this and be excited about it only if I can stay on 3.01. Bought the Fifa exploit and it was pricey so I will not be willing to lose that over one game.
You’ll have to be above version 3.01 of the operating system to play Borderlands 2 on the PS Vita. Maybe somebody will find a workaround hack for that soon(?).
If it was cross buy that would be great i already have the game for the ps3, if not i guess i wont playit.
Well, it’s the 6th today, and so far, nobody has the Vita Borderlands 2. An update would have been nice saying that the date has/had been moved to the 13th…
