Why we banned Acid_Snake
(Update: yeah, as many of you guessed, that was our obligatory April Fool’s of the year. The site being down for 8 hours on the other hand… that wasn’t part of the plan) I am getting the question a lot these days: Acid_Snake has been banned from our forum and people want to understand why.
Acid_Snake had been helping a lot with our community for years, not only as a moderator on /talk, but also by being one of the most active hackers on the PSP/Vita scene. He has been directly working with many teams and contributed to several of the exploit releases we’ve done recently, in particular the “Arcade pool” exploits.
Unfortunately, it was recently reported to me by trusted sources that Acid_Snake had been selling psp kernel exploits that were not his to share, let alone sell, in the first place.

Allow me to ellaborate on what happened as it was closely related to me and my team’s work.
A few months ago I entered the scene with a friend (who goes by the name 0xdeadbeef, but he’s not registered on the site). We were specially interested in learning MIPS, and what better way to do it than by attempting to find a kernel exploit? a few weeks into our research we were able to produce 6 kernel exploits. We contacted wololo, Acid_Snake and qwikrazor87 to share our findings and ask them to join our team. Initially Acid_Snake was doubtful of our work and even blatantly attacked us and deemed us as “fakers”.After giving him our kxploit he changed his mind and decided to join. I respected and trusted him, but not long ago he created a giveaway contest (we all know about it). The giveaway seemed innocent enough, until I found out from respectful sources (I don’t want to name them as I don’t want anyone mad at them) that Acid_Snake had been selling our kernel exploits to anyone who “donated” to him 20€.
I immediately told wololo and presented him with the proof. After many negative and disrespectful answers from Acid_Snake, wololo decided to demote him from the moderator group, and since he didn’t want to stop with the bashing on my person, wololo just banned him.
It’s a big drama that hopefully doesn’t lead to anything bad as I now fear for the privacy of our kxploit.
The right move was therefore to ban Acid_Snake and remove his moderator rights.

I fully agree with your decision, especially that he sold it before I could, this is very frustrating….

Now keep in mind I don’t really know wololo, but from his posts and his overall “principles” this seems like an elaborate April fools. This has never come across as a “for profit” site.
So I say give it a day or two before snapping to judgement and flaming. Afterall it’s now officially April Fool’s. Has been for around 6 hours give or take where you live.

It’s gotta be an April Fools joke. But even so, this is why I hate this day, any “jokes” or “pranks” tend to be a lot meaner on this day.

All of these guys just fooling us here, no public release, just private releases which means you have to pay for that. Now this egg fooling, and beside people in these days wants to find these foolish eggs and many many people start to click click and click! Which also make them rich!

April fools joke or not I think the whole CFW scene should ALWAYS be free. That’s the way I keep it. I will downgrade, install CFW on PS3s, PSP, iPhone, you name it I jailbreak or customise it for free.

The lie is essentially highlighted in Wololo’s last sentence:

I tend to agree, i cannot see anyone here wanting to profit from the exploits. The last paragraph does seem strange to me. Not sure if this is a joke or not. If this is true about Acid_snake, i still thank him for his work and dedication to the scene. I think this is just a joke, i sure hope so.
