Content On PS Vita Without Updating, Using Proxy, or a PS3
This is a method for those of you who want either an exploitable or any game for your PS Vita, but have issues with proxies, don’t have a PS3, and/or don’t want to update. I originally saw it here, but it was removed by the user. Then, I saw it here. This method can be used to acquire any of these unpatched exploit games.
Here is what you will need:
- PS Vita on FW 2.60+
- PSN Account
- Computer (or anything capable of accessing your PSN account that is not a PlayStation console)
How it’s done
Fully power off your PS Vita. On your computer, navigate to the Sony PSN Store. Log in to your account.
If you haven’t bought the game that you want, do that. Next, hover over your PSN name and click on “Download List”.
Once at your download list, click “Download to your PS Vita” on the game that you want.
Just to be sure that your game will download, at the top of your page click “Download Queue”.
Turn on your PS Vita and wait for the spinny circle on your notification bubble. If you wait a while and nothing happens, restart your Vita and it should work. You now have a game on your PS Vita without updating or any of the previous hassle.

By the way, if the download fails, the reason of the error will appear in the website, not in the Vita. In the Vita, it will just say that the download has failed.
Also, can I update games without updating the firmware?

I have a vita running 3.01 tn-v. Can I use the method above to download games from the ps store to vita? I don’t have a ps3 and would like to download ffx. Do not want to update firmware and lose the exploit.

Yea you can. I just downloaded Destiny of Spirits- Which is free to play on the vita.
i just downloaded destiny of spirits too, which came recently to psn..
but without updating the vita its useless, because this game needs to connect 🙁 i really liked to check this game out, damn it :(and i believe there is no other way to play it, or?

If you’re going to be republishing stuff, why not look at some of the older, more technical articles and post those? They are much more interesting.

I don’t understand, with these method I can acquire any game I want? The trick is just to buy using the sony psn store on my pc?
I used this method with my Final Fantasy X2 voucher and it worked just fine. Except I had to redeem the code on the site first, and then followed the same steps.
Guys i need some help. The game isnt downloading onto my vita alone. I did everything as stated above but nothing happened. How to solve this?

I’m on 3.01 and signed out of PS Store…..This trick worked for me. It took a solid 10 minutes for the button on the top right to push the game to my vita. Keep trying!

It is just possible via a PS3 or via the newest Vita firmware.

PSV Settings -> Update (Once the new FW shows up) ->
Charles Proxy Select the HTTP request -> Right Click -> Map Local -> replace the file (psp2-updatelist.xml) with a modified version with system_version=”03.010.000″ then ok -> On PSV Cancel and Update again (Then it tells you that you have latest FW) then now you can connect to PSN /or CMA /or Play Online via WiFi /or Cable without the latest FW.

I already have the full unlocked version of Charles Proxy and everything works fine i already had a modified psp2-updatelist.xml too.

I’m guessing this will also work for the free PS+ game of the month?
I tried all this. When I launch the numblast game and kept the R button pressed I got an error. an error has occurred (c1-2858-3). what can I do here. The exploit is on the vita and the game. It just does not work
Does not seem to work on 2.61 for a US account either. Some of the comments in the link that Yifanlu posted suggest that this only works under the same rules as Charles proxy. Meaning that you can only be one firmware revision older than the current one. In this case, probably means you need to be at least 3.01 or maybe even 3.10 for this to work. If someone on 2.6X really gets this to work please confirm.

good thing i have to update to get acces to the foto or pictures i took 🙁

None of these comments make sense. Tried everything to get the purchased game to download the the PS Vita via the PC. Purchased game, added it to the download cue using the PC. Started the PS Vita, and nothing. I am on 3.01. If you try to sign in to PSN with the PSV, it will force you to upgrade.
Can someone please clearify and write a concise guide on how to get the game to download to the PSV after purchase through PSN using a PC? I am on 3.01 – appreciate it.
Charles Proxy, or look for VitaUpdateBlocker on the forums (easier to use, but have a small problem with large files from PSN -no that much of a problem at all, you can still download large files-)

Numblast isn’t available anymore in the EU-Store since a few days.
I think actually there’s no way to get TN-V on a 3.01 System
I tried all mentioned above, all i got were several error messages on my Vita
