Total_Noob Has Left The PSP/Vita Hacking Scene

A very well respected dev in the PSP/PS Vita scene has decided that it is time to leave.
As you probably know, TN-V8 was Total_Noob’s final public update. What you probably didn’t know, is that it is his goodbye gift to the scene.
Life has caught up to Total_Noob, and when push comes to shove, there are some tough decisions you have to make. Reasons why, will remain undisclosed, but Total_Noob is not quitting, he is doing what is best.
Total_Noob was an appreciable dev, so I thought that it would be fit to have a bit of a timeline of his TN-V achievements (I could not include everything, as it would be to long, but if you want to see more Total_Noob work, check out his blog here).
(Note from Wololo: it is worth mentioning that Total_Noob was active on the PSP scene way before his work on TN-V for the Vita. He actually released the first kernel exploit ever on the psp go, back in 2010. Talking “only” about his recent work on TN-V with the vita is not necessarily doing full justice to his entire work, but it is probably what people think of the most when they think about his work today. For some juicy slices of history, you can check all our TN related articles in our archives)
Total_noob TN-V career sum-up
Total_Noob first announces 6.60 TN-V – Total_Noob first reported that he was working on TN-V. he included a Youtube video for POC and feature examplementation (yes, I did just make that word up).
Total_Noob releases TN-V – This was a day that many of you looked forward to.
TN-V2 released – This release much improved the recovery menu, and made it possible to launch backups located in the savedata folder.
TN-V3 released – Update allowed users to play the exploited game.
The release of TN-V4 – This version brought a lot of new updates, including fixing all bugs made in TN-V3!
Total_Noob releases TN-V5 – This update brought one of my favorite features, the Plugin Installer.
TN-V6 released – TN-V5 brought a plugin installer, but what’s the point of an installer if you don’t have a remover! This version included a plugin remover.
TN-V7/7.1/7.2/7.3 – All three of these versions came out fairly close to each other. with this update, came a ‘Restore QSP folder’ option, for that darn QSP FTP bug.
TN Savestate plugin – A great plugin, developed by Total_Noob, that allows you to save your game anywhere in any game.
TN-V8 – This was Total_Noob’s final contribution to the scene. You can see the full changelog here:
* Added Inferno Driver by Coldbird.
* Added in-XMB FTP feature.
* Fixed NoDRM crash in FW’s below 1.80.
* Fixed bug where PSPFiler didn’t work without any plugins activated.
That sums it up. Enjoy TN-V8 and the TN Savestate plugin. That’s all for now from me, The Jay Doctor. The comments are there, use them. I can also be contacted/followed on Twitter @The_Jay_Doctor (you can use the handy links below).
Thanks to Hackinformer for the details on this

I will miss you TN, although I am glad to have read “Reasons why, will remain undisclosed, but Total_Noob is not quitting, he is doing what is best.”

I think many users here owe Total Noob a big thank you for all the work he has done towards the PSP/Vita scene. Hope you get situated whatever you are going through :). I will continue to have TNV on my psvita for as long as possible because I know there won’t be anymore. Take care for now.

Last thing here is a message from my side and gamesonic.it staff for the dev: Dear Total Noob we would like to thank you for your incredible work, to get it done with the utmost seriousness and for having given us a means for endless hours of fun.We wish you all the best, and I hope one day to see a new release.
Well he shure deserved a better article, not the TN-V timeline.
Back in the PSP scene he released many exploits, for example the Lumines one, that brought me in CFW.
BIG THANK YOU Total_Noob FOR MAKING THESE THINGS HAPPEN!
Much Respect! Wish you all the best things in life!
this isn’t news , drama queen total_noob always does this
He ll be back guys don’t cry
This is his 4th time I believe

Proof of last time- wololo.net/2011/06/12/did-total_noob-leave-the-scene/
Thank you so much Total_Noob for all of your hard work, many people I know were actually introduced to PS Vita hacks through your recent updates and are now very big into the system and all of the updates that happen here. So for everyone I give you a giant thanks for all your hard work and here’s hoping you’ll return to the scene again one day!
what a loser…finally admitting it
I know right?
Na-na na-na-na na na na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye
Hey hey-hey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye
I really wish TN would reconsider, even if he cuts back on releases. I appreciate your effort, and your decision. Without you most of us would be here with only VHBL. You don’t have to keep coding, just don’t disappear.
Wow. You didn’t even scratch upon the surface of all he has done for this scene. He deserves a much better farewell than this.
thanks total noobs ur the best..
from Philippines here ^_^
Goodluck T0tal_N00b and thanks for all your work!
Kung di dahil kay total noob wala tayong tn-v s ps vita naten kylngan p mgdala ng seperate psp lol.. Too bad theirs no dedicated dev left for vita
God bless Total_Noob. He’s done so much for the scene. We will sorely miss him.
Good, now that he’s gone we can have a real developer who knows what they’re doing get to work. I mean my vita still can’t massage my back, go to work , go clothes shopping with my wife, or make me a sandwich.
Worthless.
Jk, have fun with life and thank for tn-v and for including the inferno driver before you went out. If you ever want to come back even though you said you’re done, well …. we’ll only make fun of you a little bit.
FTP Feature in the XMB for the V8 is REALLY usefull when developping PSP homebrew using a PSVITA.
Save lotta time. Thanks TN.
“He actually released the first kernel exploit ever on the psp go, back in 2010.”
While that’s technically true that he “released” the first kernel exploit, Davee was the one who found the first kernel exploit: http://www.lolhax.org/2010/12/23/arcanum/
The timestamp tells the whole story 😉
That doesn’t take away from the great work TN did with TN-V and other stuff.
he’s gonna be back! and thats when it will be the return of TNV9
I never post on here but I wanted to say thanks to Total Noob!! Because of you my Vita isn’t collecting dust on the shelf any longer. You’ve made significant contributions to the scene and I appreciate your time and effort you’ve put forth for us!
Hope you figure it all out, and I wish you best of luck in the future.
Total Noob you are a legend like the Dark. Thank-you, I will be able to enjoy my vita with psp games (cwcheat and saves states) for many many years to come. YOU noob has made made a lot of people (hundreds of thousands!) happy!! Thanks again, maybe we will you back years down the road.
Thank you sir Total_Noob… 🙂
