Official TN-V4 changelog revealed!
It is already the 2nd December 2013 and we are still patiently waiting for the official release of the new TN-V4 eCFW, which will bring us a kernel mode to the firmwares above 2.02 (up to 3.00+) and will turn all usermode exploits, that we’ve released this year, into kernel mode. But now let’s take a look at the changelog of TN-V4:
Official TN-V4 changelog:
- Added high memory support for
FW 2.1x ONLY.
(Update to Firmware 2.10/2.11/2.12 and get one of the 2.12+ exploit games!)
Added an option in the recovery menu to apply the PS Vitas registry (Registry hacks ->). (These registries will be applied: PSN, language, button assign, password lock, date, adhoc, wifi)
Added automatic recovery menu boot at first use. (This prevents you to boot into an error message)
Added ‘Fix exploit savedata’ option. (With this enabled, you can play the exploit game. The first 2 letters of the savedata folder will be replaced with ‘TN’)
Added possibility to hide the exploit game in XMB.
Added ISO category support for GCLite.
Added possibility to change HOME and NOTE combo buttons (Advanced -> Advanced configuration ->). (If no buttons are choosen, you can HOLD the Livearea button (the blue PlayStation button) to simulate the HOME button)
Added patch to enable 6.60 kernel modules decryption.
Fixed CPU underclock.
Fixed infinite bluescreen error.
Fixed lots of Sony’s msfs driver bugs.
Fixed all bugs made in TN-V3.
Fixed original pscode region determination.
Fixed bug that did not allow you to go to the Livearea screen.
Fixed bug where HOME button was simulated, when you opened the Vita OSK.
Dummied Temperature and Volt power functions to avoid long negative strings.
Improved ISO cache core.
Improved ‘Install Addon’ feature. This option is now removed from recovery menu and is always enabled.
Removed semaphore wait in flash0 emulation. This enhances the reading speed of flash0 files (most noticable in Theme Settings).
Made some cosmetic changes in VSH Menu and recovery menu and added possibility to change the color of these menus.
Wow.
This sounds like a lot of awesome and great new features and functions. With the released TN-V4 changelog, we might can expect TN-V4 to hit soon~ish.
Remember, TN himself gave us a time frame which was ‘November to January’, so it is possible that TN-V4 can hit in the next few weeks.
And now, since people like pictures, some pictures of the new functions.
There are a few colours to choose from:
Red, Blue, Green, Purple, Cyan and Yellow.
Same for the recovery menu. The following colours can be chosen:
Red, Blue, Green, Cyan, Purple and Yellow.
You can use 2 buttons to simluate the Home and the Note button. You can choose from the following buttons:
Up, Down, Left, Right, Start, Select, Cross, Circle, Square, Triangle, L and R.
You can not choose the volume buttons or the touch screen.
This will apply the PS Vitas registry to the PSPemulator. This includes the language, the PSN account, the Nickname (PSN Name) and other settings.
We can’t say this enough, be sure to prepare your PSN Wallet and keep an eye at our forums. TN-V4 might be available soon.

Do you think it I should update and then use this when released or stick to my old Uno Exploit on 2.02? I mean theres no other benefits considering maybe compatibility and things mentioned in the changelog but since i am already on an exploit is it truly recommended?
I think TN-V3 is good enough. No need to update at the moment!
If you ever plan to get a ps4 and want to crossplay, then its worth it. I had the uno exploit but updated since I wasnt playing any of the psp games and wanted some of the games available on ps plus.
Exactly the same thing I did. PS4 Link and PS+ were too tempting and I didn’t even complete any PSP or emulated games on my UNO Exploit. My 1000 is always waiting for me.
Thanks for the response guys! I will definitely hold onto the exploit until I buy a ps4 later in the year otherwise keep it and enjoy the portable emulators for the time being.
But I definitely agree, with all the ps+ and ps4 cross play, it is definitely a big tease to get off the exploit and keep it official.

Wasn’t the high memory support for 2.12 and lower FW ? Like the uno exploit on 2.02.
TN reported higher ram on 2.10 – 2.12, he said this a few months ago.

IMO most PS1 games don’t need sound. I.e. Final Fantasy, you read the whole thing. I would just see if the music plugin I have works and play the OST with the game. PS1 is emulated everywhere, this is still fantastic.

Saying the cost of the game narrows down the list of possible exploits. This makes it easier for Sony to patch before release, thus as I understand, they never post the cost of the game. Just when adding funds don’t be shy, and say tuned.
Please release this in late January so that anyone who receives or purchases a Vita on Christmas could profit from it.
Nov. – Jan., most likely means a Christmas, or New Years release. I waited a year without any Kernel exploit, the sooner the better.

yes you can connect to the PSP’s PSN just like you can with the currently released TN-Vs
Most of the online PSP servers are sadly closed, or closing soon.
Does firmware 3.0’s no high memory support affect PS1/PS2/PSP backup compatibility?
Could it affect potential future TN-vX PS2 sound support compatibility?
And does firmware 3.0 affect OpenCMA compatibility and PS3-offline-transfer compatibility?
Would you recommend to upgrade from firmware 2.x to firmware 3.0 prior to the TN-v4 release?

First, wololo may not know. Second, giving out a price would not be smart. It would be giving out clues to the release game.
Since the last one was too expensive and for the *** japanese store we hope that never happen again,too expensive and only for EU amd JP stores.

I am using TN-3 under 1.81 system. I am wondering should I upgrade the system to 3.0 and wait for TN-4? Also I don’t understand why we need to prepare PSN wallet beforehand, can’t I just top up the account and buy the game on the same day when user mode exploit release?

As to if you should update now, well, that depends. If you don’t, when you see the game you will have to update. What if during that time the game is pulled? That would REALLY suck. But, if you do use TN-V everyday, then without it the Vita is useless to you. So, eh.
At least if you do just update then you will get a much better browser and youtube.

Please I have a question: I thought TNV4 only required a file download from the internet, then uploaded to vita and exploited. I did not know you had to buy a game. How do you buy a game on PSN if you’re on an earlier firmware? This will be the first kexploit i have been around to see. Will someone briefly explain it to me?
It is difficult to buy a game when you are on a lower firmware. It is expected that when you are on a lower firmware, you already have one of the exploited games, otherwise there is no good reason for you to stay on a lower firmware in the first place (do you follow?).
