Where the F… is TN-v4?
Where the heck is TN-V4, and why hasn’t it been released yet? Well, if I got a dollar every time I got that question… you know the rest.
The truth is, TotalNoob has been extremely secretive about this project and his release plans, probably for good reasons. As a result though, for the moment I cannot give a precise date as to when he plans to release his upcoming Homebrew Enabler (his most precise answer so far has been “somewhere between November and January”).
If you’re just joining us, TN-V4 is an upcoming hack for the PS Vita that will run inside the Vita’s PSP emulator. It will let users, among other things, run plugins, PSP homebrews, a wide variety of emulators, and psp isos. Because it involves a Kernel exploit, it has access to much more functionality than our “typical” VHBL releases. As such, it is also a much rarer event (the latest similar exploit was released a year ago) and awaited by many.
For now, only TotalNoob himself and his beta testers have had a chance to use it, but we’ve seen a few screenshots, and got confirmation that TN-V4 also runs on the Vita TV.
As I contacted TotalNoob recently, he clarified to me a few steps of the release process: the TN-v4 release will be preceded by a usermode exploit announcement: this will be a psp game, that we will most likely announce as a ninja release here. The game will be required to trigger a usermode exploit, itself leading to run the kernel exploit. Of course, any other usermode exploit released in the past should work with the kernel exploit, but people on the latest Vita firmware will definitely need a “fresh” and unpatched usermode exploit.
Based on his latest message to me, TotalNoob is ironing out a few last bugs. I am also guessing that the massive exploit cleanup from Sony with firmware 3.00 (they patched about 20 usermode exploits) has probably disrupted the release plans a little bit, which is why we are seeing some delay. Or maybe making us wait a little bit more was part of the plan all along. All I can say at this point is that TotalNoob told me he would “let me know” as soon as things are ready.

Thanks for info wololo 🙂 But I think V4 could be released faster for current exploits since V4 for older exploits is sth like “update” not as ninia released new exploit. It could help TN to fix bugs if lots of user have it and could test it on their games/homebrews. 🙂

I think that he will release it after the ps4 relese in europe- wich is tomorow , may be a few days later becouse of possible update for ps vita-ps4 better compability, or something like that. ( this is only my personal opinion).
But should us that are on 2.02 update and maybe even pair to the ps4 in advance b4 the release? Wondering if this holiday, Sony doesn’t make their employees work, just to combat this release. They know we’re out here. >.> <.< They are watching… waiting… O.O *hides*

i hope that tn would release a new usermode exploit with his release of his kexploit in order for others not to find it difficult to use other past usermode exploit. new usermode exploit and the kexploit can be release together will be easy work and not gonna be complicated as for all the new b’s.. just a suggestion—thanks tn-wololo
well im sure the change sony made to the psp emulator in the 3.00 update had alot to do with it so yeah

I don’t think the PS4 is updated enough to release it yet. We should wait for $ony to add bluetooth support and support for the accessorys we already own. Just my .02.

Seriously guys, PS4 has no games, why wait for a dead console. Just release the exploit, there will always be exploits in the future or other ways to hack the vita. Im not donating to wololo to wait 10years for a vita hax

Please wait a little more until the Vita TV is sold in USA and in Europe. Like that TN-v4 will have a much larger audience and that will be motivate and support more homebrew development.

TN-v4 was lots of work and this might be the last kernel exploit ever released.
It would make sense to wait at least ’till January with the release so that the ones who buy or receive a new PS Vita/Vita TV on X-Mas can also profit from TN-v4!
TN on Vita TV is pointless IMO, If I want to play PSP games on my TV, I will do it with my PS3, or Emulator on PC. That being said, TN released last New Year to “stall” Sony from patching the exploit. He will probably follow suit, either way, Im interested in PSP games on the go. (without buying another PSP)

Probably a stupid question but couldn’t some including me just make a Psp emulator or shell that ran games such as snes emulator make a file that reads tons of files like some type of Psp such as how you can play it on a android device idk. Just a guess I can’t put into words at the moment
I don’t want to sound impatient, but if the ones who already have the past exploits especially the ones on 2.02 for Uno, then why not release just the files? I mean its just because certain new games are out and others keep thinking of opting out
