Minimur, WTH Happened This Week? DS4 Problems, Games with Gold coming to Xbox One, And Fallout 4?
So as the title suggests, Xbox’s response to PS Plus – games with gold is on its way to Xbox One, other news includes the best video that is currently out there for PS4 (its a bit naughty) and also as always, reddit time is awesome!
You know what, I’ll mix it up a bit. Vita news isn’t going to be first this week. Muahahaha.
First news this week is how a while ago an article surfaced on how Ps4 is being manufactured by Foxconn and they aren’t treating the interns too well. Well I guess this backfired and an topic on a forum surfaced recently at how this guy had sabotaged the PS4 purposely. Photos were found of one PS4 owners hard drive wasn’t slotted in all the way and the screw was missing, others and what about that HDMI problem? Could this be the caused by one of the interns working at Foxconn?
But let’s not blame these guys for everything, we all know that not all console launches are perfect, high price point and not many games like the ps3, RROD like the Xbox 360, and others. Well apart from Nintendo, they seem to always do good.
Now we can get onto vita news, let’s first talk about the new games announced for it:
The Rayman: Legends for vita shipped with around 30 missing levels, well it’s been announced that those levels will be available for free on 26th of November for you to download for free, along with the addition of leaderboards.
Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty has announced on PS Blog that it will be released in Spring 2014 for PS Vita, PS3 and PS4
I couldn’t find much else, unfortunately. If I’ve missed anything, feel free to point it out!
More news was how Microsoft congratulated Sony on their next gen launch and tweeted this photo:
Congrats @Playstation. From, #Xbox. pic.twitter.com/XnQIzXIHQ9
— Xbox (@Xbox) November 15, 2013
This is pretty cool for Microsoft to do this, I’ve even gained some respect for them. 🙂
More Microsoft news for this week includes the likes of how through a tweet, and only a tweet, Major Nelson confirmed that the games with gold programming will be coming to Xbox one…. In 2014. Here’s the tweet:
Great news: Access to free games each month is coming for Xbox Live Gold members on #XboxOne – Details coming later in 2014
— Larry Hryb (@majornelson) November 14, 2013
I wonder what the first game is going to be, being as its not just a set rental service like PSN, you actually keep the game. My guess is that it will either be either one of their launch exclusives, and along with an indie game, and games will probably come at a rate of 1 per month, unlike the 2 per month that it offered on Xbox 360. Not to downplay it or anything, but that’s just my guess.
A man who is lucky enough to be the 1 of 1 million PS4 owners showcased the Vita remote play feature… over 3G WiFi hotspot on his phone. And it turns out surprisingly well, here’s the video for it:
Man I’m so jealous!
Also it has been recently confirmed that Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag for PS4 will have a day one update which makes it a beautiful 1080p, but its making me wonder, with all these ‘day one updates’ for AC, CoD, making it 1080p, with people saying Native is better than upscaled(which it is) how do we know these updates aren’t making it 1080p through upscaling? And not actual native 1080p, or is that just my tech-head being on the wrong way round, and a game can actually be updated to make it native 1080p?
And just a bit of trivia for you guys, the game was developed on PC and then ported over, I remember watching an interview with Ashraf Ismail, game director and he mentioned that they were ‘working on PC’s. ‘
Good news Fallout fans! Fallout 4 has been trademarked, and along with this a teaser website was uploaded called thesurvivor2299.com/ it features a simple countdown and this a logo, with repeated morse code in the background:
A redditor went about de-coding the morse code, and came up with the date of 12/11/13.
But remember guys, just like the half life 3 trademark a while ago, this could be fake. First of all it’s domain name is registered under godaddy, a top game developers choice for a teaser site, right?
In any case, don’t get your hopes too high as it may just be fake.
Next, on to Dualshock 4 problems I mentioned in the title, it seems that the analogue sticks have been wearing out very fast, right down to the supporting plastic. Here’s what has happened:
Hopefully this, like the damaged PS4’s are just isolated cases and not for the every DS4 out there, for those who have a PS4, what are the analogue sticks like? are they susceptible to wearing away, or are they the unlucky souls who got the bad batch of rubber?
There’s a few more photos of the same problem if you follow this link. Hopefully this won’t be a porblem for me though, I’m not the sort of guy that digs my nails and knaws on the analogue sticks.
Weekly blog round-up
- Sony patched up to 20 exploits with Vita firmware 3.00 – Much to our surprise, Sony have patched a huge amount of once-exploitable games. I guess they’re more on the ball than we thought!
- Amazon PSN Store for Digital games & DLC – The PSN store is now accessable through Amazon if you want to purchase games/DLC. Pretty cool.
- First Reports of PS4 Launch Unit Hardware Failures – Like every launch, it has it’s porblems. Apart from Nintendo of course!
- (Video) Vita TV Value pack: the messy unboxing – Wololo shows us him unboxing his VitaTV
- Confirmed: VitaTV currently only works with Japanese accounts, can only access the JP PSN – Wololo tries to set up his VitaTV into different regions, but it doesn’t work.
- VitaTV review – We get our own review of the Vita TV, and it doesn’t seem too good.
- PS4 HDMI Issue is Self-Fixable. Flashing Red Line is Not a Console Failure. -One of the problems some people were having with the PS4 was with the HDMI jack, and it turns out it’s self-fixable.
- Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate Review Part1 – italkgame lets us know….
- Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate Review Part 2 – what he thinks about the new Vita Batman game. But to be honest, I disagree, it doesn’t look like the AAA content you’d find on a home console, it looks like a handheld game that you’d find on an iOS/Android platform, I’m not going to go for it, unfortunately.
- Tutorial: running all your psp games on your ps3
- With 1 million units sold on Day 1, PS4 is probably the biggest console launch of all times – Wololo shows us a tweet from Shuhei Yoshida himself and how on launch, PS4 has sold 1 million. More than any console before.
- Greatness Arrives: PS4 All Access Launch Event In A Quick Article! – I sum up the PS4 Launch event, with some cool announcements like a new Uncharted on PS4 (YAY!), and a solid release date for inFamous: Second Son.
Reddit time!
Boy have I got a treat for you guys! I’ll get straight to it:
While reading through reddit I found this photo titled ‘Why E3 presentations are pointless’
Here are the comments for this reddit thread:
Man, I’m immature.
Let’s move on, this is the most powerful PC ever known to mankind, like literally. Known as the ‘Large Pixel Collider’
Sorry its late, I’ve been sidetracked and just didn’t get fully round to it. 🙁
Yeah, classy tweet from Microsoft, very cool of them. I’m a bit worried about the controller ‘issue’ though, at $60 each, I don’t wanna have to replace mine :/
Yea, games with gold is cool for XB1. I’m happy about this! And the PS4 controller issue I thought was interesting because mine started doing the same thing after about 8 hours of play. I have never had this happen with any of my other controllers before. I will contact Sony about this, maybe they will replace it.
Something cool from micro$hit?
I know something not cool, they are stopping games for windows live on july 1st 2014, means every game with the *ucking gfwl $hit will either stop working or in best case you will not be able to play multi.
All those games relying on the microsoft servers for activation will be complete obsolete paperweights.
THIS IS NOT COOL. I’M POINTING MY FINGER AT YOU, MICROSOFT, SHAME ON YOU AND I WISH YOU A BAD START ON YOUR XBONE, AND ANOTHER RROD DESASTER.
For those ps4 controllers, this squishy rubber thingy does not look solid and sturdy. :/
I have been using my DS4 since I got it on the 1st of this month (a friday in the southern hemisphere)
The rubber they use is almost exactly the same as the DS3 and has shown no tack or wear at all… I even have sweaty hands and have had no issues. This said I don’t dig my nails in or try and wear the thumb sticks down with bad behavior…
Actually not only have I been using the controller a lot but I also have the bad habit of twiddling it’s thumbsticks while watching TV shows so I don’t jiggle my legs, it may change and it may fall apart in the future, but I doubt it.
Well judging from those pictures, a few look like caused by fingernails scratching over the surface.
And maybe a few have a production damage, but that big rip looks like it was caused from falling and landing on the analog stick.
This is what I think could have caused those damages.
I agree, how can they do this? I have already forsaken Microsoft when they blamed me for 3 RROD consoles. I can see a game going down because of low population, but the entire GFWL?
BECAUSE, GFWL $UCK$ hard. It did not do what it was supposed to, 90% of the time it was failing -> crashing, not connecting, freaking out, or even rendering your original key useless.
Most devs saw that and soon they abandoned that platform, going to steam, apparently there are some real stubborn ones that tied themselves to GFWL, for example C(R)APCOM.
Even microsoft abandoned its OWN platform and began publishing games on their direct competition.
AND now, it’s finally dying, I don’t know if I should cry for loosing my games, or if I should celebrate for this horrible abomination to go down the toilet and then to heck.
They’re being patched, quit being a baby.
Really? I guess you have evidence for that?
Post me that link, please.
So far I only know of SEVEN GAMES that have abandoned the GFWL Virus and you can use your retail key in steam, and Bioshock 2 is one of them.
All others, nothing heard of, and I’m already following the steam thread of t(h)urd party drm.
And also this -> http://tinyurl.com/pyzq5lo
Halo 2 -> dead, Gears of war -> dead, Dead Rising 2 retail -> dead,… the list goes on, here is a wiki link: http://tinyurl.com/okcyyrf
AND what about the DLC stuff? Another story.
damn that vita remote play. Ill probably do it also except that the internet services here suck hard. Im using a broadband but its only like 2mbps… that lte mobile connection there is almost 3x faster.. >,,<
My home network is 4.5mbps max, that’s the highest in my area.
Should have talked about bf4 for ps4 on how much trouble its having… For me it deleted my campaign , twice… And can’t even access a 64 multi player server … Not just me who is experiencing this. a lot of people are.. I am *** off!!!! Fix this *** already
I’m mean we pay over 400 bucks for a ps4, 65 bucks for bf4 , 10 bucks for a digital copy, which is 34gb, and pay for PS plus so we play online only to find out this *** ain’t working the way it should. We pay a hefty price to enjoy our favorite game and favorite brand name, Sony, to get *** in return.. Man Alive..
well, it’s DICE fault, not the PS4. They host their own server.
an topic?
“a game can actually be updated to make it native 1080p?”
I don’t see why not. With most PC games, you can choose whatever resolution you want, as long as the game and your monitor support it. If they cleaned up some code so it could render faster, they could force it to output at 1080p.
About controllers, so far IMO it’s a mixed bag. The analogs are really uncomfortable. The bump at the edge feels too “sharp” and the rounded middle just feels a bit too high, more easily pushing my thumbs towards the sharp edges. I’m also not a fan of the L2/R2 buttons still being the controller’s feet.
I am watching :P, keep up
microsoft has always done that a while ago the internet explore team sent a cake to firefox and congratulated them on their 15th anniversary
Classy move, I like that.
so the ps4 no big issue jus got to mode it out of the box
My PS4 controller hasn’t done this, sucks that it happens though, I’ve never had anything like that happen to a first-party controller.
Otherwise I love the design, I do personally prefer it to the totally convex design.
lucky u have two ps4 wish i had two ps4 or at least a few set
