Minimur, WTH Happened This Week? Gaikai on PS3, Vita, PS4 Bundles, Naughty Dog’s PS4 Project to Debut ‘A Little Later’ And Another Giveaway!
Hey everybody! [Hi Dr. Nick!] So this week, I’ve got the monthly competition which includes Battlefield 3, Sims 3, Dead Space 3 and more. But news wise however, it turns out that you can plug any headphone/earphone into the DS4 and hear all of the games audio, there’s a new Conversations with Creators video that this time focuses on Knack and interviews Mark Cerny and Yasuke Watanabe. Also Sony now have a new studio and their mandate is to bring ports, localisations, and also new IP’s

Although insomniac were reluctant to say anything on a Vita version of their new game – Into the Nexus, it seems that there’s been multiple sightings online of listings for the game. The most recent listing would be an Amazon listing, and surprisingly, the game has been bundled with the console.
Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate finally got it’s own bit of attention with a trailer detailing the story and with plenty of new gameplay scenes. Here it is:
Looks cool, but in my opinion it doesn’t warrant a £30 purchase.
As I mentioned in the opening paragraph, Sony have acquired a third party production studio, and their mandate as I’ve said above is to create new IP’s, port AAA titles, and localise games, their current project is borderlands 2, which was announced at Gamescom.
This was announced on the US Playstation blog, and at the end of the blog post it said:
In the meantime, let me know in the comments what you want to see on PlayStation (PS3, PS4, PS Vita). Or contact me on Twitter through the ingenious and mesmerizing handle of @giocorsi — original I know, but man is it solid.
Skipping few the comments, the most requested game is a localisation project – Final Fantasy Type-0, and admittedly, I’ve asked for that as well. There is at least 10 requests on each page asking to bring the game over. I would definitely buy FF Type-0. Would you? I mean, a full blown FF game on a Vita. That’d be awesome.
Let’s move on to PS4 news now. Once again, Shu has taken to twitter to confirm/debunk any questions by the public. He has now confirmed that the 3.5mm Jack in the DS4 can stream full game audio. Which is pretty amazing.
@HyperXStream it’s not only for a voice chat, you can choose

I bought my Triton Kunai’s a few months ago for TLoU and I had to hook it up through scart and set up my PS3 for sound to come through scart while video output was set to HDMi, while also having a USB connected to my PS3 to use the headset audio. This feature makes it a whole lot easier and I was amazed at it. I don’t know why but I am totally stunned that you can do this!
He also answered another question on if you can use Vita remote play straight out of the box, without the need to set up, and yes, trolled while doing so (The following tweets are a whole conversation – Twitter didn’t let me embed all 4 in one picture however).
@yb_bobo Once you set it up (with a TV or a display with HDMI input), yes.

A PS4 bundle has been listed on Amazon France, and it is pretty good value. For €499 it contains the PS Camera, 2x DualShock 4 controllers and Killzone Shadowfall. Oh, and a PS4.
As I reported on previously, the camera has voice navigation and facial recognition – so the camera has a lot more to offer in terms of usability than just using it to detect the light bar on the controller.

As some know, the game ‘PlayRoom’ which utilizes the PS Camera comes pre-loaded on to every PS4. It was announced recently that it will get downloadable content from the studio DoubleFine. Who have produced some great games like Psychonauts, and are currently producing Broken Age, a very well successfully funded kickstarter project which will be coming soon to Steam for early access beta.
In an interview with EDGE, SCEE’s Jim Ryan gave us some more information on Gaikai, and also why it wasn’t spoken about at their Gamescom conference last week.
When asked about why Gaikai wasn’t at Gamescom, and if there is an update on it, he replied with:
Yeah sure and I’ll tell you why is wasn’t touched upon last night. So the plan is to begin with North America next year and the plan is to provide a streaming service that will allow for PS3 content initially to be streamed to firstly PS4 then PS Vita and then PS3.
And so that will happen in 2014 in North America initially. Now, and I touched upon these issues of broadband in Europe during the presentation – Europe is of course on the roadmap for that service to be deployed at some point in the future, but for reasons outside of our control we don’t yet have a timeline for it. So at a show which is now pretty global in its reach but primarily aimed at a European audience, we didn’t really want to start talking about the virtues of this great cloud-based service without knowing exactly when it’ll come to Europe.
We’ve got a roadmap, there’s just a few bumps along the road that need to be ironed out.
So Gaikai will be on Ps4 initially, and will eventually make it’s way to Vita and then PS3.
Unfortunately for us Europeans, there’s no timescale for Gaikai at the moment 🙁
So it’s next year?
2014 – early-ish for North America.
No word on Europe?
Nothing to say yet.
It’s a good interview – You can read the rest of it here :

A Playstation team in UK known as ‘Playstation Access’ has interviewed Michael Denny, SVP of Sony Worldwide Studios Europe. He told them in an interview:
We didn’t announce their titles, as you know. The reality is we’ve announced a lot of AAA blockbusters from first-party and third-party. I think the teams you talk about there, you will have noticed they’ve done some quite big games on PlayStation 3 recently, yeah? So, hence why their PlayStation 4 debuts will come a little later.
So it was that chance to look at the other side of what PlayStation 4 can offer as well with some of those smaller, innovative titles as well.
Mark Cerny, the person who’s voice sounds like leather. Even in Japanese! In this installment of Conversations with Creators it sees Mark Cerny and Yasuke Watanabe talking about Knack, and about 60% of the video is in Japanese (with subtitles, of course).
Prize Time!
At the moment we have 2 giveaways live. Unit 13 & Gravity Rush, Tonakai’s weekly giveaway, and now this one. Awesome /talk member JeoWay was kind enough to give me his origin keys to post below to give away. But it isn’t a simple ‘here’s the code, redeem it’ oh no. This is a game. Somewhere in this blog I made a mistake, and that mistaken word contains a letter that has corresponds to the missing letter in the code. JeoWay contributed these games, all for Origin:
-Dead Space
-Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box
-Crysis 2 Maximum Edition
-Dead Space 3
-Medal of Honor
-Command & Conqeur: Red Alert 3
The first key is for Dead Space:
4QK3-?R5T-9G8D-PUB5-7LTZ
I’ll give you the answer being as this is the first time. I spelt Conqeur wrong in ‘Command & Conquer’ the letters I switched around are E and U. The letter you need is U.
4QK3-UR5T-9G8D-PUB5-7LTZ
Moar!
I wasn’t entirely done. Here’s another competition. Just leave a comment and I’ll randomly choose the winner. Although, the more effort you put into a comment you’re more likely to win! 🙂
Comment on here for a chance to win the entire humble bundle – viewtopic.php?f=8&t=34682&p=292080#p292080

If you buy it on amazon, you can say you won it but you had to pay £349.99 to enter the competition.Unfortunately Wololo isn’t rich enough to give away 2 PS4’s – Neither am I. Even if I did work 29 days last month 🙂

Nice article, Minimur! Some interesting news.
I thought the spelling mistake was at the start when you said DS4…
These weekly updates are useful.
That’s the point in them 😀
FF Type0 localisation? Well, this is going to sell some VITAs 😀 Would buy it certainly as it is said to be similar to Crisis Core and that game rocks.
