Vita: the annoying bugs Sony doesn’t seem to care about
The new firmware for the PSvita is a great new update and a step in the right direction with game save uploads with PS+, but I’m not here to talk about the new options. It seems that there’s a problem that Sony is not addressing with the PSvita and the Playstation store.
One of the downfalls in playstation store on the psvita is when you try to download a game,video,music etc.., it locks up on you. Then you have to restart the psvita and hope that the download is in your queue and has started to download. If not, you have to try redownloading it all over again and hope it does not lock up on you.
At first I thought it was just me having this problem. So I tried everything from making sure that the psvita has enough space on the memory card, to resetting my home network. Then I started to ask others psvita owners and found out that I’m not the only one having this problem with the Playstation store.
Other Playstation communities on the net seem to be reporting the same problems. I found these links while looking for more info:

But Sony seemingly hasn’t addressed it yet. This problem with the Playstation store has been going on for a long time now, well for me since the New Year around February. I don’t know why, Sony still has not addressed this issue or even tried to fix it.
So Sony need to get off their butts and actually fix this problem. I’m just getting sick of the psvita locking up in the Playstation store all the time, maybe some pressure on them is necessary.
How about you? Are there any persistent defects on your Vita that make you wonder if it is still a beta product ?

*** amazing that sony has released multiple firmware updates without fixing it. i’ve pretty much said “*** it” and download from my ps3 and just transfer it over, which takes more time by the way
I haven’t had this problem in 2 patches.
Haven’t had this issue yet but the Vita will be my last SONY product I’m tired of wasting money on their systems showing the possibilities of the consoles/handheld on to fail every time. also SONY has bad customer support. I never had issues with Nintendo and my Xbox 360
My problem is m vita keeps overheating when i put it to sleep. I dont have this problem with my black vita. Only with my black/white vita. Is it just me??
funny that you say that. there also seems to be a problem with chargers overheating the vite but it might be only the first models? i have the white assassin’s creed liberation vita and i never had any problems
i have a spare charger i bought so i switch them out and see if that helps. The thing I’ve noticed is that even when it’s not charging and i put it on standby mode after a few minutes it the home button will light up a solid blue and that’s when the overheating will begin as well.

Happens to me regularly when trying to download anything from Soul Sacrifice DLC to indie and full games infact it happened three days agao. I thought I had a faulty console but I’m glad thats not the issue, Hope sony figures whats the problem and fixes it (if they ever do).

After the 2.60 while using my psvita i my battery shows red with the message popping up saying its dying to me it was weird cause i was half way when i turn on vita after few second it goes up back to green halfway my battery still last but those annoying pops every few minutes is annoying i could be full but for few seconds it shows red and tells me my battery is dying and goes back to green again and also ive been having that playstation store problem also
I thought this was only happening to me also. When my vita is fully charged and I use it for 5 minutes, my battery bar will go red and keep saying “Battery is low” and in the next few minutes, my vita shuts off because it’s “out of juice”. When I power it back on, I have full battery left. Tell Sony that this error will turn our Vita batteries into a special battery with the same function as a pandora battery. They’ll fix it quicker than they do patching usermode exploits.
Strange, yesterday I was using my PSP 2000 and it went into standby saying low battery. Upon restarting I had 66% battery left. I am talking about a PSP here but it is a similar issue.
This might be a shot in the dark but I remember reading about lithium ion battery and smart batteries.
They say it is recommended that every once a month to drain your battery to 0 percent because after a while the smart battery looses its calibration accuracy. Then Charge you device to full battery.
It’s dangerous to drain lithium-ion battery to something lower than 5% because then it creates copper bridges between cathode and anode and then it’s same as if you made short circuit
You’re not that wrong with a controlled discharging once a Mont because it prolongs the lion Batterie lifespan through preventing a memory effect.
I would not care ab out hat 5℅ percent issue, as this is regulated by the lion batteries charging decharging logic board inside the battery housing.
Thrawn, memory effect is just a myth (now), it doesn’t happen on these newer types of batteries, it should happen on NiCd but it’s impossible on Li-Ion batteries, what you might see is your battery getting older and losing capacity but it’s totally unrelated to memory effect
That happens to me too.I really hope they fix it.
Along with the PSN store/Vita freezing error, I wish they would do something about the PC Vita transfer system.
It’s so fudging slow compared to PC PSP direct transfers.
Just tell Sony that this error could lead to a kernel exploit. They’ll fix it in a heart beat.

I have this weird bug where whenever I search the internet, the loading symbol pops up then disappears then pops up then disappears, and everytime it disappears, the browser stops loading. It literally takes me five minutes just to get to the home screen. I checked my other vita and it doesnt have an issue. The loading icon stays there all the time. Does anyone else have an issue?
same here. When the icon appears and quickly goes away, the pages fail to load or the network times out.
I thoght this was just a problem on my end too. Wierd.
I really dislike this bug. Several times while running MGSHD in the background I had this perpetual downloading now bug appear. I was forced to shutdown and could not save my Metal Gear Solid 3 game. It is very frustrating to lose hours of game play due to this bug. I even posted in the ps community thread linked above in the article. Sony does nothing about this problem so far.
i used the us store and nothing like this ever happened .Dont know about 2.60.i have bought many online games ps plus free game went smooth.could be a server issue.
This has been happening to me since 2.10. Usually only when I have a physical game card in the system, but not always. It is very random.

What about not being able to do automatic save data upload. I have never been able to keep the “automatic save data upload” check box after I leave ps+ section of the game. And I thought I was the only one who had this problem as well. Maybe now that it is out in the light Sony will do some thing about it.

Another huge problem is notifications. There is a whole section under settings dedicated to notifications but it doesn’t work. Try turning them on and off and you will still get notifications as none of them work. I would like to see them working like they are supposed to.
I put a complaint in the official Vita forums and got some really stupid replies like they don’t even own a vita and just replying from a PS3 manual.
As there is a section for notifications you would expect them to work. They never have.
Yep, happens all the dang time. I had soul sacrifice crash on me one time, no idea how though..It kicks you out of the game and asks you to submit a crash report to sony. Rather neat that it doesn’t break the entire system and force a restart.

They will probably fix this when they have nothing left to patch when a exploit is released just for them to say they did something productive in an update besides patching the goods hahah just a thought not saying its true
I too have this same issue. It mostly happens if I try to add more than one item to the queue. I find downloading content from the PSN Store on the Vita were slow to download even though the access point is less than 2 feet away.
I use a proxy server to get the URL of the download, download it to my Mac and then use the proxy server to map the download to the local file and my Vita downloads it much faster. The combined time for my Mac to download it and my Vita to download is still faster than if I only used the Vita to download it.
Also it seems like the latest PS3 update has issues with transferring content to the Vita. I get constant errors trying to transfer content to my OFW Vita.
Also, I don’t like that if I plug the Vita into my Mac while I am playing a game just to charge the Vita, the Vita pauses the game and auto starts the content manager. Sometimes it even quits the game to do so. I don’t have CMA running on my Mac so I don’t know why the Vita insists on starting the Content Manager.
I like the Vita but these issues need to be fixed.

It didn’t happen to me when I first got the Vita, but after a few of the patches it started to. It’s pretty annoying, hope they at least eventually fix it. Definitely by the release of the PS4 and hope they can deliver on all their promises, though Sony hasn’t always been one to deliver what they say….guess we’ll see.
Always occurs on my psn d/ld. Freezes on “Preparing to download", Must reboot. Once a PSN low cost game I just finished paying, got stuck and following reboot,nothing in download list. Called for refund and was told ..Just this once! Huh? Fix it!!!
Fucccccccccck sony, waste my time. Hope Sony die soon, i will put my psvita in closet and blame sony rest of my life.

This is the downside of the feature of videos in browser, and Sony obviously doesn’t have a fix, rather don’t know how to.

Happens to me sometimes, too.
Fortunately enough, I’ve not encountered the aforementioned bug on my Vita (imported it from Taiwan). For about 15 months now, I’ve only experienced a couple of events that I needed to hard reset my vita – and this was during 1.80 fw days. Lucky me, I guess 🙂 Oh yeah, I play at least an hour a day.
the only problem i got is the logo keeps flashing every 5 min when its in standby mode, anyone else with that problem?
The download problem also happened to me and I thought my Internet was the caused since I have very low speed.
