Wololo.net turns 5 years old, and I have presents for you
Seven years ago, I bought a refurbished PSP and made my commute to work less boring. One year later I had become a pretty hungry consumer of everything the psp scene could give me: exploits, CFW, downgrades, emulators, homebrews, open source code to look at… everything felt extremely interesting to me. Shortly after that, I decided it was time for me to try to give back to the scene, and in 2008 I set up this blog to talk about the progress on my very own homebrew Wagic, an ambitious PSP project for a game with an AI, based on a famous Trading Card Game that shall not be named.
Five years later, this place is unofficially known as “the” PSP and PS Vita scene site.
This anniversary is an impressive and humbling milestone for me. Wololo.net has evolved a lot depending on my own interests, but also the readers of the blog. This site wouldn’t be what it is today without some of my decisions, but more importantly it wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you, the community. I kinda sound like any website trying to make a typical PR here, but I really mean it. Some of you have been around for as long as me, and it’s heart warming to see you still stick around.
So, this month, I’ll try to make this anniversary a lot about me and a lot about you: a lot about me because I’ll probably be writing a few “history” articles about this site and myself, and a lot about you because I’ll be giving away presents throughout the month. To be honest, my dream would have been to give away a “secret” VHBL release based on an exploit I own to a few “winners” of some sort of contest, but I didn’t find the time to work on that. Instead, I’ll be having a few PSN Codes giveaways for the next few weeks, and, who knows, maybe a bit bigger present towards the end of the month.
I’ll start right away with two US $20 PSN Codes:
- One $20 psn code to a random one of our Twitter followers who retweets this tweet.
- One $20 psn code to a person chosen randomly among those who reply to this thread on /talk: Just say how and when you were first introduced to the PSP/Vita scene 🙂
Winners for both codes will be chosen at the end of the week, and we’ll have more gifts after that!

Nice dude, keep doing this stuff and soon you will become a legend in the scene ^^ (Legen – wait for it – DARY!)

For some reason compos never interest me. 😆
i get into ps vita scene when i purchased my vita 1 year before
I got a psp as a gift almost 3 years ago, found this site and got a cfw for my psp.
Happy anniversary wololo! I got introduced to the scene when I bought a PSP at a garage sale for $50.

I’ve first crossed your lines a few weeks ago, when i gathered enought money to buy a vita (some month of grind ^^)
I don’t have any games now but my only interest were into getting emulator on this one 🙂

Thanks again 🙂
A french follower
I got into the scene around 2006/07 shortly after getting a psp and hacking it with GTA Liberty City Stories disc (which I still have). I now have a Vita running 2.02 with Uno. Yaaaaaay! I win!!!
I got into the PSP scene when my friend hacked his PSP to play ff7 on 4.01 m33
got my PSP 6 years ago and heard about dark_alex(the M33 series) CFW a couple of months after. and got into the PS Vita scene when it was launched
make it another 5 years
will you also be making the vita run vita/psp backups as a gift too?
Wololo!! Im not worthy to receive the gifts but only say the word and I shall be healed!! amen 😉
Funny! I think Jesus must’ve read this and chuckled lol
I was first brought here because during my freshman year of highschool I was given a psp for Christmas. So I bought a few games and that was great and all, but I was getting bored with them, so I decided to “jailbreak” my psp. The first hack I had for it was Half Byte Loader for 6.35 (it was an exploit for the everyone’s surikki demo or something along the lines of that) and eventually I downgraded and installed TN-HEN. I got more involved in the psp scene and began to fall in love with plugins and homebrews (especially lamecraft) , and I went from TN-HEN to PRO CFW.
Hacking my PSP was the best thing I’ve done with it.
i got into the psp scene a few months after they released the psp in the us. my very first exploit was using wipeout pure to use the internet on a psp with 1.50 firmware. soon after that i had a simple nes and gb emulator and it exploded after that! it made all my favorite games playable again after lots of lost years and broken lost sold stolen cartridges later!
Celebrate good times…
I got into the PSP scene when I got one when I was 13. I loved it but I always wanted to do more, so I installed cfw and got a 32gb memory stick and to this day it is my favorite handheld. Unless my vita get a kernel exploit!
Congrats wololo!!! I’d porbably never take into hacking the PSP if it weren’t for this site! Thanks for everything!
I got into the psp scene with my white phat and I recently had to give up my uno exploit to play soul sacrifice.
got my psp when it came out, same with Vita, tok me quite some time to get my psp hacked but loved playing all my emulator games on it, even though Vita has much better screen and i dont touch my psp much nowadays; i still consider it one of the best handheld; it was user friendly, simple to use, no restrictions, so many games to play now as well.
I was first introduced to the beta scene when i first got my vita and got the MBA exploit 🙂
I remember seeing all the stuff that Dark_AleX made at the beginning of the real big PSP firmwares. It was impressive. It got me into experimenting with my own homebrew overtime. I never had any other Playstation system before PSP, and all the awesome hacks, homebrews, and firmwares brought me further into the PS world as a whole. I love it.
i got introduced by the zett on twitter and when i got my vita for christmas
I got introduced to the PSP scene when I got a 2000 from cousins. I researched things about it, found homebrew, and a few months later (when I had gathered money for it) got a store to install CFW on my PSP. This was 2~ years ago,, I think…
COBRA ODE IS GOING TO BE RELEASED WOLOLO PLEASE VISIT THEIR WEBSITE

So much time!!
your articles are very helpful, for that, thank’s a lot dude!!
^^
First time poster, long time lurker, free stuff woot
When I got my Vita last year, I was bummed to not have more of an arcade game presence available. The hope of a working VHBL, then the actual VHBL have made my Vita much more fun for me.
have any answer for ps vita scene (CFW)?
Congratulations FOR scene
This site makes my vita worth owning. Without homebrew it would worthless. Thank you for your had work
I’ve owned a PSP1000 since its initial debut in Japan in December 2004 (I happened to have been studying abroad there). There were literally 4 games on the shelf at the time: Ridge racer, Dynasty warriors, Lumines, and Minna no Golf. (And I bought all of them lol)
I first learned of PSP’s homebrew capability around May 2005, when my cousin showed me his PSP running a GBC emulator. As of firmware version 1.5, I’ve been following the homebrew scene religiously. To date, I still actually have ALL the firmware versions and their respective exploits backed up –such as:
– dev loader
– dax loader
– hen (with the super buggy .gif)
– Pandora’s Battery
– magic juice stick
– …etc
My PSP1000 finally went FUBAR in 2009, after about 3 thousand hours of game play in Monster Hunter and DJ Max Portable (among other things). I’ve done about 5 instances of DIY repairs by then, including key-membrane replacement, joystick replacement…etc. When the joystick ghosting was beyond repair, that’s when I went and got a PSP2000.
The 2000 didn’t last me very long, about 12 months later the joystick ghosting caused me to get another PSP. This time the PSPGo. It’s higher DPI, built in 16GB memory, and elegant slide design really captured my attention. I was really unlucky however, and had to get it replaced twice in the first year of ownership. Sony never made a fuss over the replacements, so thank god for that! The unit is still around and kicking, and I still play it occasionally.
As of early 2012, I’ve been a PS Vita owner; and immediately I started researching into its homebrew potential. This is when I discovered Wololo and recognized it as the ONE and ONLY reliable source of homebrew updates for the Vita. I now check this blog on a daily basis, always on the lookout for exciting news.
So yah… I’ve been with the PSP / PS Vita scene literally every step of the way. My loyalty towards this Sony line of products has out lasted 40% of North American marriages. How about that? =D
Nice to see a fellow original PSP scener. I got into the scene in March 2005, but didn’t get my PSP till Euro launch in September 2005.
I vaguely recall Wololo’s name back in the golden days of the PSP, but didn’t become acquainted with him fully until the Vita hacking began.

Wololo talk more about this video
true or false
This is an obvious scam: random youtube video from a nobody that asks you to download a .exe file? You’ll get a virus at best. There is *NO* Vita CFW or hack that lets you play Vita pirated games. The day it happens, it will be on the frontpage of this blog
thank you , my friend
My friends introduced me to wololo, just january of this year. They said there’s an exploit coming out for the vita, since then, I’ve been checking out this site everytime I have a chance.
Thank you wololo and congratulations!
not interest in $$ but the kernel exploit of Vita… hoho…
I just stumbled upon your website during my early PSP days searching for stuffs… i think that was 6 years ago hehehe how time flies
Congratulations, game is a part of my life.
