Incoming Vita Firmware 2.10: Folders, Web Videos And More.
As announced on the Playstation blog, Vita software 2.10 has been showcased, and it looks pretty cool!
The firmwares new features will be greatly recieved if you decide to update your vita, you will get the following:
- Create folders to more easily manage your favorite application icons on the home screen, with up to 10 icons in each folder and a maximum of 100 on the home screen (including icons inside the folders).
- Verify which PS Vita card you are using by looking at the home screen’s info bar. You can also save the layout of your home screen icons in the memory card. *
- Added video support allows you to play videos within the browser (memory card required; some videos are not supported).
- New email enhancements allows you to view HTML messages, add multiple email addresses to your contacts, and easily search your messages using the new search feature.
- PlayStation Plus members will be able to automatically update PlayStation Mobile format software and upload game save data onto online storage using 3G connection.
- New “Mute Automatically” option will mute your PS Vita speakers when your headset is unplugged and pause your music when using the music app.
Thanks to us playstation blog for the update list. 😀
*This means that if you swap a memory card, the home screen icons wont be all over the place. 🙂
I am really in a fiddle now. I have my kernel exploit on Uno, and I don’t want to give it up……… but the new features are pretty awesome, watching videos on the web? Folders? HTML email viewing?
I tell you what! I will be opening up a poll seeing your view, and if you are answering here, and whatever the most popular answer is, I’ll go with it!
This is how I feel at the moment:
You’ve just been rick rolled!
By the time you’ve finished reading this, you’ll realise it’s just my signature.
Just poke the admins of such sites to support html5.
Yay,we got a feature that should had been there on release…
How about themes next?
true they should of been there on release but they should fix what they have already. like adding backgrounds and pages to folders. or antialiasing to the edges of those icons. the pixelated look around the edges is just so…yuck!
Folders aren’t worth losing my exploit. Sorry, Sony.
i don’t even care about ePSP exploit since PSO2 Vita released 😀
nice read. I am updating right now as i have 4 vitas, one that i keep on current ofw, 2 that run ecfw, and one in the box on 1.6 ofw< hoping that someday a lower ofw will be cracked and i wont have to mess with a downgrader! to those worried about updating buy a 2nd vita and a psp then you wont have to play this cat and mouse game anymore.
I am updating, from 1.67 to 2.10. I have been wanting web video for a long time and there still has not been an native vita hack released so Its not that much of a loss.
TN-V will be getting a compatibility SC3/urbanix jp fix soon if you want to wait on that.
are you sure the app limit is 100?
i know it was before folders. but we have more room to but apps now so wouldnt that make the total number of apps to be 1000?
10 apps per folder and 10 folders per page. thats 100 apps for each page the vitas main screen can support and it goes upto 10 pages so….
in any case this was a good update.
Does OpenCMA work with this update ?
OMG this update screws alot of psvita gamers that owns physical games for the psvita system ive tried everything to get games to boot like UMVSC3 and other games too except digital games psn network it froze the psvita system countless times sony needs to fix this quick…

Sooo what if you are a PS Plus member with a Wifi-only Vita?
