Apache Overkill PSP Mini removed from the EU PSN, US is next?
As we announced the upcoming release of a VHBL port by TomTomDu80 for Vita 2.06, Sony followed what is now a tradition, and pulled the game from their EU store as soon as they got the information. Many people contacted us about this now, and although I haven’t verified myself, this got confirmed by enough sources that I trust this is true.
As I type this, the game is still available on the US PSN, and that might be your last chance to grab the game before it’s gone, as we expect the US store to remove it as well as soon as office hours start over there. The game was not available in the JP or HK stores.
As a reminder, the upcoming release is “only” VHBL, which will not allow you to run psp isos, but “only” a subset of PSP homebrews. At this point, I do not know if a psp kernel exploit will be released that takes advantage of the Apache OVerkill exploit, but who knows. Historically, when a psp kernel exploit is released, the exploit gets backported to older user mode exploits, and maybe that will happen too, or maybe no new psp kernel exploit will ever be released after the 2.02 CEF/ARK series.

Some of our testing showed that compatibility was “not so great” in this VHBL version, but compatibility depends also a lot on what version of the homebrew/emulators we test, and, although our testers found that gPSP was not working great, The Z shows in the video below that gPSP work perfectly fine:
Assuming the US version of the game gets removed today as well, we will be doing our best to release the files when this happens, but please keep in mind that we have a real life to deal with too 🙂
Aaannnnddd it’s down!! (in the US) So hurry the *** up and post those files, already! I’d like to do what I need to do with the hack (which is just one thing, really) before Sony forces a FW update and prevents me from playing Disgaea 3 tomorrow (I’m a Plus member).

Yup the game isn’t in the US store. Even if you can see it, while you click it you will get a message reporting that it isn’t there anymore.
so if the game gets patched will the vhbl still work if u have it already?
Sony don’t patch games, they usually fix it with new fw update so the only way how you can keep your exploit is that you will not update
so let me get this straight we can only use the vhbl for only so long. how long will it take for them to put a fw update?
You can use it even if they will release new fw if you will not update, simple as that

You officially have my word, Apache Overkill is no longer in US PSN. It’s amazing you can mention any game here, without even releasing the files, and they pull it! Ha wololo if you ever hated a software company you could place hoaxes, and watch games disappear! It is probably safe to release the files now. It’s so entertaining I live on this blog 🙂

Why we need waiting for the game is pulled to get the exploit files? Anyone can explain about it?

I don’t know… You guys claim you know the reason why the file hasn’t been uploaded yet and it’s “Cause people have lives and are busy” As I see on the latest feed, He wasn’t to busy to post another article…. “Amazon One-Day Video Game Deal: 30% Off of Tomb Raider, and other discounts” Maybe there is another reason that the files aren’t uploaded yet…. Hmmm…. This sounds pretty sketchy if you ask me.

For the record, it takes longer to write the “how to run” explanations, update the VHBL page, prepare the zip, triple check that the files work, and post the related article, than it takes to write a single blog article.

I was debating on updating from 2.02 UNO exploit to 2.06 AOK (Apache OverKill), but so far I feel that I’m better off where I am… I guess this would help out those that missed the UNO release or accidentally/purposefully updated their Vitas to use PSN… Until something good comes by, or a new good Vita game comes out, I’ll stay right where I am…
If a new Sonic the Hedgehog game came out (seeing how the past few games were awesome again), I would update for that!
my opinion is stay on uno and also download the apache game incase you’d like to update in the future.

I updated my 2.02 uno exploit to 2.06. As much as I loved using xmb I gave into online gameplay, I will wait for the next major ecfw, but I will always be excited for the vita cfw aswell. Any ways happy gaming everyone 😀

Not necessarily. Some people, like me, might want to hurry up and get the hacks on our Vitas before the inevitible FW update is released, preventing people from accessing PSN (and therefore, Disgaea 3 for me) unless they do so.
