The Homebrew Network is an application much like the PlayStation Network. But instead of Paid games, it provides free homebrew. With The Homebrew Network, you can do all sorts of things. You can of course download homebrew, you can chat with other users through IRC, you can even get the latest news from straight on your desktop! The Homebrew Network is a lightweight application available for both Windows and Linux. It is updated regularly with new features and homebrew.

The interface is simple, when you start the application, you will get a window which looks something like:
Screen 1
To start, just choose a category, the list of homebrew in the chosen category will be shown. Just choose which homebrew you want and click ‘Download to PC!’, the white bar below the buttons will show the download progress. When the download is complete a message will be shown

Click ‘OK’ and the folder to which the homebrew has been downloaded will open, then just extract and transfer to your system. The ‘Transfer’ function is not complete yet but it produces the save data structure with the homebrew name if you are transferring with OpenCMA

    1. Brendan B.’s avatar

      Same issue here.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

      ************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging

      For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Program does everything except downloading homebrew for me. ;)

Alright! I liked what I saw from this when it was posted in the forums, really glad it got front page! Great job hgoel0974!

  7. HaHussle’s avatar

  8. Astig_808’s avatar

    very very nice

  9. Duke’s avatar

I’m still waiting for a way to get Vita games for free…

    1. Mr. Awsome’s avatar

Then you dont deserve to live in this world anymore! Just buy the damn games!

    2. AyeGuy’s avatar

I will go as far as pirating psp games, but I love sony and am willing to pay full price for vita games to keep them in business.

  10. mangosteam’s avatar

hope you can also release an html5 internet explorer on ecfw?? or an internet browser with flash homebrew? on ecfw…

  11. carlos’s avatar

I could not buy the game to make vhbl
this system there is in the game to add vita, or have another way to fix the…

  12. ecocle’s avatar

Finally something like this is starting! Maybe it could be combined with PRO Online so we can have a full network on the PSP or PS Vita someday

  13. SSJ-Vita’s avatar

Awesome job as usual to everyone involved. Not everyone gives 2 cents about free games, in all honesty I don’t even so much want free psp games. I just wanna junk this underdeveloped slave operating system and at this point pretty much ANY other os on this tablet would be a life saver. Here’s hoping that feat isn’t too far off! As always thanks for all the hard work you guys put into these projects and developments and look forward to other interesting stuff like tn-c and whatnot.

  14. Skars’s avatar

    Can’t move the windows?!

Reporting that I can’t unzip some emulators downloaded from Homebrew Network

I’m using winrar and tried to change file extension to .7z, .rar, and got the same error message:

The file is in a unknown format or damaged.

The same happens with files from others sections, like apps and games.

PSP Quake is an example, couldn’t unzip it.

  15. IgnusArmagadan’s avatar

Not seeing the point, nothing is in this program. None of the buttons do anything, Chat never loads up, and when a button does do something, it’s an error message…

      1. IgnusArmagadan’s avatar

Well not much has changed in the 6 versions before this then, has there? =|

        1. AyeGuy’s avatar

          …you may have a point

  16. Roland’s avatar

    Worth mentioning:
We have something akin to this in both the wii and ps3 hack scenes.
With wii we get the homebrew channel and with ps3 it’s a web interface you can visit using the browser (obviously this would only be useful to modded ps3′s)
A desktop interface for something like this is a pretty cool idea. It can allow for much more familiar management of such things. This is a good thing and I like it!

  17. qberty’s avatar

Worst looking GUI i’ve ever seen in my entire life.

  18. Mars’s avatar

Sounds promising. Will be checking this out for sure.

  19. coto’s avatar

Why do you release it if it doesn’t work at all?
    Can’t get it

  20. Mr. Jack’s avatar

What about the version that worked directly from the PSP as a homebrew app? That one was awesome. Lol

    1. IgnusArmagadan’s avatar

Sadly, I think it died. I had it and used it every day but one day, it just stopped connecting =\

  21. bin_0717’s avatar

Can’t download the app from the link given…please help…thanks…:)
