VHBL Contest. And the winners are…

After weeks of intense suspense, here are our winners for the VHBL contest. As a reminder, there was a total of 167$ to win, in reference to firmware 1.67, which is the firmware running the latest VHBL exploit of Super Collapse 3.

Ok, no more suspense, here are our winners:

VHBL MEnu contest

With 94% of the votes, this is a clear victory for Yosh‘s “yMenu”, a nice menu looking like a horizontal version of the official XMB:

You can download yMenu here and enhance your VHBL experience, this is definitely a step up compared to the current wMenu :)

For his outstanding achievement, Yosh will get a prize of 77$

Video Contest

Ok, all the videos were brilliant, but my personal favorite is EpicVita (Spyro) ‘s “VHBL Review”, which showcases a pretty extensive list of homebrews!

Spyro will receive a 70$ prize for his video, congrats!

I also randomly selected two videos that will each get a 10$ prize, this is a symbolic prize to “make VHBL free” by paying the price of Super Collapse 3 to these two guys: natsu and metalslug53, respectively for these 2 videos: here and here

Thanks!

Many thanks to all participants, it’s sad that not everybody can win, but one of the goals of this contest is also to raise awareness about the Vita hacking scene :) Again, thanks for all the entries. I will be in touch with all 4 winners in the days to come, in order to send them their prizes!

Wololo, I think I found a way to prolong the time it takes sony to remove the game featured by a vhbl release. Is there any way I can directly contact you?

    Wololo, quick question:

How will you be contacting me for the prize? Will it be via email, by my /talk forum account, or on my YouTube channel?

I just wanna know where I need to be checking. ^-^

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on a potential bug that is a major inconvenience.

I’ve installed countless homebrew on VHBL, and I like to think I generally have a basic idea of what I’m doing (read: I’m not a total idiot). I attempted to install ymenu the same way I’ve installed everything else, make an install.zip(store mode only)>copy as a psp save>etc.

Anyway, after I did so and tried to install it through VHBL it did the infinite click noise that usually happens when you try to install something that is compressed. Later on after I gave up I noticed something odd when I was seeing if Adhoc Transfer would work to send files from my PSP to my Vita(mind you, I hadn’t transferred anything yet, so that homebrew isn’t to blame); ALL of my ‘eboot.pbp’ files had been renamed to wmenu.bin, thus rendering all my currently installed homebrew unplayable. I could just reinstall them, but I have a lot, and that would take a lot of extra time.

Normally you’d just think “Oh, I’ll just rename them all back to eboot.pbp”(which is annoying but do-able enough), however then when I tried to do so I remembered why it wouldn’t be that simple. When a homebrew calls up the OSK it crashes VHBL. My question to you guys is if there is a file manager hombrew that works for VHBL that has it’s own keyboard function built in? All I need to fix these files is to rename them.

There is a reason all eboot.pbp are renamed into wmenu.bin. the menu in vhbl does that, because the vita prevents us from creating files nemed eboot.pbp

OsirisFael friend, so copy the SaveDate for pc and subistituir, wmenu archives, vhbl and presto, you have a new menu.
