Apparently we're on twitter tooJust a quick note because I don’t have much time to go in details: I just got an email from Sony saying that the Playstation Suite open Beta is (finally! It’s not like the console was out for 5 months already) now available.
If you have ideas of apps or games you would like to see on the vita and/or Android, think you have the skills to do it, and, who knows, hope you might get rich by selling it on the psn store, check their official page here:

Wowsers…so for example, you would be able to develop an emulator for sale? Or alternatively, other homebrews become “Apps”. That’s great enterprising spirit from Sony!

Most likely, emulators will be rejected. They clearly specify that the stuff you develop will work on your device without any specific activation as long as the beta lasts, but then it will stop working (how? That is not clear, timebomb in the firmware or the compiled binary? Force people to update?) and you will have to sign a contract with them if you want to distribute your stuff. Of course, at that point, emulators will be rejected.
However, if the cost is “stay on a lower firmware to enjoy unsigned homebrews”, I might go with this…-
Thanks Wololo. I would love to see an Appstore-like opportunity for developers and for consumers. Although Apple is quite limiting, its Appstore has opened up to all kinds of creativity…. there wouldn’t be Angry Birds without the Appstore right?! lol.
Too bad emulators would be rejected. Still – the prospect of homebrew apps being legit is great also.

Not sure if this was stated but couldnt the upper homebrew people make an emulator that works but then distribute the source code etc to the public so those who are registered with sonys program can install it on their own device?
Or is this the type of contract distribution thats not allowed

Also, could you guys make a simple (but hopefully) cheap game, then add a hidden exploit that is hard to find by sony, release to market, then later on announce you have discovered an exploit and port etc to it?

1: Its a game by a major scene advocate of Sony being more open on its devices. Sony may deny it solely on this basis.
2: wololo would have no say in how much the app will cost, nor how much he would receive from each sale, nor is he allowed to make the app free.
3: Wizards of the Coast may not approve.
4: It would require the removal of all Wagic statements from this site, and all other works based on Wagic would not be allowed to be used except by Sony’s direct written permission.
5: Wagic is GPL, and the license forbids such apps.

Does the Suite take control of the Vita’s functions? Such as using its GPU core to the max? To me, it doesn’t seem much could come out of this for the Vita’s sake when the game would have to work on all PS Certified devices and it would limit the developer to whatever works on the lowest platform (idk which one that is though).
Guess I’ll have to try it out later and see, but I’m not keeping my hopes up for this to be a full way into the Vita homebrew wise. Another question: How long does the open beta last?

My speculation, if he releases it now sony can take it down the same day. If he releases it on the weekend, they’ll have to wait til Monday to take it down because they only do changes to the PSN store on business days.

xmm if the suite has access to ps vita kernel a tool to inject random code in order to crash the system or loop fuctions and look ram will be possible and then exploit the system.Nop i dont think sony will allow that restrictions on the suite are sure
