I managed to port HBL to the US version of Teck4′s exploit in exactly 45 minutes (including writing the savedata exploit and the binary loader), which is a new personal record, thanks to the scripts included in HBL’s repository, and also to the fact that the different versions of the game are internally fairly similar (which is to be expected because technically the game is supposed to be the same, just translated, but I seem to recall it wasn’t that easy for the Hotshots golf exploit)
I also updated the EU/US versions of this HBL port to get the tweaks I worked on for the past weeks in order to get a fair amount of homebrews to work.
The next step for me is to write a bit of documentation on how to use all this, and then patiently wait. As far as a release is concerned… well check the FAQ I wrote yesterday.
I could spend time polishing this port of HBL for the Vita, improve compatibility, and I might do it, but since there’s a high risk this gets used by only a small amount of people before it gets patched, I’ll probably leave it in its current state for now. It’s probably not worth working too much on the details if nobody ends up using it. Of course if by some sort of miracle this doesn’t get patched immediately by Sony, I’ll update it accordingly.
Now let’s all wait (I’m probably more excited than anybody else about this release, really…)
-
Is just me it or does it look like you are giving your self a self-esteem boost?
-
Nice!
The EU versions of hostshots golf had an additional language select screen. At least for Everybody’s Golf 2 this meant that 4 byte of the overflowing name couldn’t just be random data or it would crash before the exploitet function was run.
-
wow, gambateh, even though i dont have a psvita, but i m excited for the hacking too
-
Well done Wololo! Keep up the good work and thanks
-
I cant wait for this to be released. Though I hope its a store bought game as it will be quickly patched like wololo said if its a digial download.
Wish team M33 would come out of hiding
-
i dont think store bought psp games will work. no umd drive… the weird thing is that my psn account was made in taiwain, i hope they have the game up on psn.. so far only like 10-15 psp games are up…
-
-
Can’t wait to play DOOM!!!!on ma vita oh yeah just a quick question have you tested out how long can it last when we run the emulator?
-
Seems weird reasoning, i will not work on compability cause sony might patch it, sure, sony will patch it sooner or later, but since HBL is so OOP (I assume this since you can port it this fast) why not increase compability to enhance your next exploit-to-release time ?
I will prolly never own a PSP Vita but for now this is the only lead for homebrew on PSV

Bonjours wololo.
Half-Byte Loader compatible PS-Vita…

HBL will run in user mode in a sandwiched Emulator enviroment. Sony wants to sell PSVs. HBL will not be a danger for their software-sales but generate income if people buy the hardware they will also buy games…
Will Sony be stuipd enough to kill their own sales? Time will tell…its sony after all
-
Yes – Yes they will.
You fail to realize that Sony is forced to handle upon this for several reasons… the most important one being emulators.
They will suffer a big ammount of peer pressure, especially from Nintendo if they indirectly steal money from them by ruining their Virtual Console sales.
Just my few cents though, however I hope that I’m wrong.
-
No. I don’t think they will suffer any of that. Most of the emulators emulate outdated games that are not in production any more, so if no one is going really loose money then ‘no problemo’ for those big gaming companies. With that being said, Sony is all about statistis and money (Like you all state), so if HBL decreases the chance of someone buying thier games (By having your ‘gaming needs’ fulfilled with free homebrews and emulators rather than buying official Sony games) then it will be a ‘money wise issue’ for them (Just accept the fact that this world doesnt run on ‘care for thier customers’ and there is nothing we can do about this (This is the sad truth).

-
i have a question wich format uses the psp vita homebrew? it’s always the same pbp? can you run signed homebrews in the pspvita?
-
i love playing ISO. flashing and what-notting the psp.. but i dont like the way the psp died… i just got my psp this 2011 and i can say i did not enjoy it that much,.. so i realized that piracy is bad though we enjoy it…
having a homebrew while saving money to buy a new game is cool i think….
but i still have high hopes that like the ps3, the psvita will be hacked…. it inevitable i think..
-
though i played most of the best titles…lol
-
There are a massive amount of great titles on the psp, especially if you like rpgs or oddball titles. I think the biggest reason the psp failed in western countries (because it succeeded massively in japan) is that the majority of games we got over here were poor quality 3rd person shooters, racing games, fps and the worst but most prolific… the movie tie in game.
The fantastic games took so long to come out and were never really pushed in western countries… Most of the good games never saw the shelves over here in Australia.
Piracy didn’t kill the psp in my eyes, it was the mentality of flooding the market with crap games and publishers assuming for the masses that western culture didn’t want rpgs.
(Which btw I have pirated games, but before I owned a GO I used to buy all my games… This stopped when KH BBS was revealed to not be coming from GO owners)

-
Is there any chance that a homebrew that will convert psp games to vita format will appear?
-
iono… suggestion… small one… SHUT UP…
Crimson it may be a little bit but yea most likely it will take a bit but there will end up file conversion that is if the PSN file formats change. I doubt they will though, so pbp will live on… and old titles will be compatible and iso/cso will find a converter… just takes time..
-
oh and wololo awesome job 45 mins is a nice job
-
-
Déjà vu… XD
