If you’ve ever been to Japan, you know that in many aspects, it’s a crazy country. I’ve been living here for a while, but I’m always happy to see that I can still get surprised once in a while. Today a new convenience store (Family Mart) opened close to my workplace, and they were selling something…interesting.
Nintendo players will probably recognize those blobby blue things immediately, they are the “slime” monsters from Dragon Quest. But these blue things here are not plushes or keyrings. No, that’s some bread filled with meat. Nikuman are basically the Japanese equivalent of the hot dog. Except this time, they’re blue…

The text says: Slime nikuman, 170 yen. The "menu" on the right says "buy? >yes >no"
Ok, add a comment if you want me to risk my life and eat one of those (oh my god, now that I think about it, they’re probably made of smurf blood or something…)

Do not check this picture if you are still a kid…I guess?

Well, considering they’re steamed meat buns and the face is still on there I’d say they did a pretty good job. However, despite the fact that I do love niku-man (used to live in Japan myself) I think I’d opt for the regular, non-blue version. Besides, it says, “Slime Meat Bun.” Gross.

Eat it.

Hey Wololo! I know this is a little bit off topic, but I can’t help but ask. Did you actually eat the meat bun thingy from dragon quest? I must say I thought it was some sort of candy or bread. But anyhow here is the link to the article in case you forgot.
